Undertale was only good for people that didnt play Earthbound before hand.

Same way this is only good for boomers that never played Symphony of the Night.

It good

hello I am mentally ill and shit in diapers so for years I've dedicated my life on literally repeating some thread formula to get my autism thread going 247

because it looks just like my flash animations 10 years ago when i was a babby

so is it worth buying or not

lmao all of these threads for this game are like copypasted
some bait question in the OP
same bait question posts in the thread

>durrrrr durrrrrrrrrr muh backtracking and reddit
actually kill yourself

I cant enjoy this either, my least favorite metroidvania. Cant point my finger why tho. Maybe its because I dont like the visuals, all the environments are boring and samey, and the lack of music is really boring.

>kill yourself
Does it help in your case, reddit tourist?

I think the music is pretty good actually, I like the dynamic changes.
The art style itself is appealing but there isn't enough distinguishing one room from another.

>the lack of music is really boring

So you played for 10 minutes?
This is the problem with you zoomers, you are a waste of perfectly good oxygen.

Listen to Sableye, shitters.

Yes

What the fuck is Reddit art style? Why because its hand drawn? And it's a metroidvania one of the Staples is backtracking once you aquired a new power to get to areas you couldn't before.

You don't have to like the game but Jesus pull your fucking head out of your ass.

Attached: 1499256921511.gif (366x206, 1.08M)

Yeah, anyone who uses >reddit or any other buzzwords as an argument is a shitposter who can't properly formulate their own opinions so they just want you to follow the blind hate group think.

I do agree on the backtracking after breaking the seals it gets rather tiresome.
I don’t understand how you hate the combat though, the bosses were tough but fair and had easy to read attack for a few counter attacks. The last two complaints are subjective.

>And it's a metroidvania one of the Staples is backtracking once you aquired a new power to get to areas you couldn't before.
a game isn't a good metroidvania just because it has backtracking, see megaman zx

Totally

Sure there's fucking boss tracks but common exploration track is fucking limited. At best you'll some shitty minimalist ambient track. Im sick of that shit, so I am biased

Ah yes, Megaman, my favorite metroidvania series.

please read to the end of the sentence in the future

>boomers
>never playing sotn
Are you just pretending to be retarded?

You can't bullshit me, kid.
You're a fucking scrub that did not make it to the City of Tears and your opinion is fucking shit.
All zoomers are shit and should be executed so the world can advance.

Soulsfags, that's why

Yes, it's a great game.

City of tears is that one water palace with that magic ball bug boss? I stopped playing after that and getting the power to visit the memories of dead bugs.

>so is it worth buying or not
not really. the overall map is enormous for the sake of being enormous, it is not dense at all.
it makes you traverse the whole thing for tedious things like upgrading your main weapon and buying upgrades.
by the time you get basic abilities you are already bored.
plus the game doesn't let you see complete the map until you find the map maker resulting in a central part of the map being hidden until the very end.

it's a different game but I'd suggest playing Deadcells instead, the gameplay is amazing and different every single time you play.

Even if you end up not liking it, it is just 15 bucks so it's really no huge investment

kek

it's worth about $10

You just outed yourself as a newfag. When this game released, and when the DLCs were released there were daily threads here that often reached bump limit.
You just hate this game because it became popular and you think Yea Forums is all about being contrarian

>He doesn't bring Wayward Compass in every boss fight

I've only fought two bosses so far. The false knight and some big fly and they were both easy. I got to the first bench in Greenpath and have 0 motivation to keep playing. It's just not fun.

Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games. People not liking it because of the artstyle, or the mapping system, or backtracking I can understand, but things like
>shitty combat
>reddit
>good for boomers that never played Symphony of the Night
>flash animations
>lack of music
Are just dumb, and feel like trolling.

What the fuck does reddit artstyle even mean

I just beat No Eyes. Am I gonna have to kill Hornet? I really dont want to. she seems like a good bug

Attached: 1568069230725.jpg (1024x950, 290K)

A game isn't bad just because it has backtracking either.

>What the fuck does reddit artstyle even mean

Attached: 1561214090980.png (644x790, 59K)

I'd say it's like $25, but you can get it for $8 on sale.

>stopped before the dreamers
Everytime.

at least fight Hornet

Of course, it always depends on the implementation. It works excellently in Super Metroid for example. I don't think it's HK's strength.

SILKSONG FUCKING WHEN?

I really enjoyed exploring in HK, mostly cause of all the optional bosses, though i guess if you don't like the combat it wouldn't be a plus.

I liked HK's combat and I'm glad there were a lot of bosses to use it on. I still think the exploration element is a bit too aimless and poorly conveyed, due to the size and sparseness of the world + samey art style.

>Nurageface
Like clockwork

have you noticed that reddit eyes are like the infected eyes?

buzzword = thing i don't like

DEEPEST LORE
Wait does that mean we're the HK fighting the infection that is reddit?

>I-it gets fun after 50 hours!!
lol

Here's some deep lore for you
Soul Master is being controlled directly by the Radiance
His eyes and balls are orange
His battle scream is the Radiance's, rather than the infection scream that the Broken Vessel and Hollow Knight use. It's her voice you're hearing, not his.
His body has been enlarged by the infection (like Traitor Lord), making him stronger. You can see how he deflates when you stagger him.
In the second phase of the fight, he stops using magic and starts throwing his body at you. This is one of the Radiance's favourite tactics - using a host's body like a hammer when she gets desperate.
The Radiance seems to have a tendency to freak out and panic when things go wrong. The final phase of her fight is 'run away and shoot panic lasers'

>infection causes independent creatures to turn into a zombie like hive mind with no thought of their own
You might just be on to something

pretty confident he just mistyped zoomers

Made by three guys and shitstomping esthetically 99% of what came out this gen
Still overrated

Like a specific flash animation based on a 25 year old cartoon by the same person.

youtube: maximov "5/4"
google: "full pipe" game

it is to the metroidvania genre what dark souls was to the action genre, a mediocre boring iteration that can't live up to the greats but is seen as the best thing ever because it's their first game that exposed them to the genre elements

you fight her in literally the second area of the game don't be such a fucking idiot

because it's the zoomer generation's first game*

That's kinda reaching.
Anyway is Silksong a sequel or a prequel faggot?

>shitty combat
i wouldn't call it shit but i would call it shallow and not worth creating all those bossfights for, foir me the point of a metroidvania is never its combat, it's the exploration and pathfinding itself

>i have finished the tutorial area, so i can judge this game in it's entirety
The game opens up after Hornet, which isn't that far in.
I wouldn't say it only gets fun from there, but it's definitely the best part of the game, and also the majority.

those last two points aren't even fucking reasons.

for 10 quid the game is fantastic and comfy as fuck

only bad points for me is the vague and uninteresting story, the locations are brilliant though.

How is the artstyle reddit? Its about a bug kingdom in the undergrowth.

Duuuuude, bugs are so frickin' cool!!

Attached: 1554781785196.png (644x800, 26K)

Actually, seems like author recorded a playthrough of this game of his own.

youtube.com/watch?v=pyrl9QLF8oo

How is it reaching? The Radiance's fucking VOICE comes out of a possessed madman sorceror bug.

How much of a soulless fuck do you have to be to not find bugs cool?

It's worth the asking price especially for how much content you get.

A full play through will get you 20-30 hours depending on your skill level, not counting the Godhome DLC.
For what it sells for, I think it’s worth it.

Kek you haven't even fought hornet yet? Yeah just go ahead and drop it you don't have the attention span to stick with it for like 2 hours tops

sign of a true casual

Stopped after getting an aerial dash of some sort, probably a good game but it didnt grab me at all.

Try it on steam. You don't like it, you can refund it.

this game IS fun though. so it is quite casual.

damn...you got me...

Define "Reddit artstyle"

probably one of my top rated game

>>tons of backtracking
Literally the main feature and the whole point of Metroidvanias. Good job faggot. Also, tons of quick travel points and shortcuts to open. Game does backtracking very well.
>>shitty combat
Great combat. Actually possibly the best platforming I've seen in two decades.
>>awful optimization
It would run on a fucking gameboy wtf are you on about
>>reddit artstyle
Reddit doesn't have any artstyle so I don't get it. Game has wonderful backgrounds. I'd agree the character sprites kinda look out of place, but it grows on you.

It's like Reddit gameplay except for artstyle, in other words: pure cringe

Artstyles that are in games I don't like (but it's ok if a similar artstyle is in a game I like)

Zoomers don't have the attention span for backtracking.

>reddit artstyle

Attached: niggawhat.gif (498x371, 4.05M)

Don't listen to anyone who says this game is good. The lore tries to be some deep thing but it's just so scrambled and triea to go over your head but fails hard. This was my first vania and it was shit. I have no motivation to go 100% the game. I got one ending then I stopped it's just not that good

nope there are shorter but way better games around, bloodstained shits all over HK in term of depth, Blasphemous has a better art direction, La mulana is just a plain better game, Rain world pushed the genre forward.
super metroid, SotN, Aria of sorrow, should all be played first before having an opinion about HK and understand why it s a bloated overrated game.

I played all these at release and HK shits all over them. Except La-Mulana, but that's hardly a metroidvania, that's a La-Mulana-like.

>Except La-Mulana, but that's hardly a metroidvania, that's a La-Mulana-like.
Nah, it's an Archaeological Ruin Exploration Action Game.

Your lack of self-awareness is disturbing.

I opted out.

Baby's first castlevania-like game.
>Inb4 Metroidvania
I'm using that lame-ass term.

I like having more than one weapon in my metroidvania games.

It's a Metroid-like you knob.

>awful optimization
lmao what? What kind of 20th century toaster are you using mate?

I got bored real fast, never trusting hype again.

Not all backtracking is created equally.

>19 y/o boomer here
>frogposter
You're not even trying to properly bait

>3 days to beat White Palace
I went full autism and spent two hours painfully forcing myself to finish it
There's a charm combination that basically gives you infinite hit points so you can never die while doing the white palace run
Fuck the Path of Pain though, I didn't even bother attempting that one

*kills you*

Attached: ooheq6wwwhj21.jpg (352x293, 11K)

Yes

You have shit taste then and you're unable to understand what should be the right length for a game in the genre. If your game has barely half the upgrades that super metroid has, it shouldn't br 4 times as long. Bigger is not better when the level design doesn't variate enough. If the focus is the boss fights, make a megaman game instead of a metroidvania.

Metroidvanias are non linear side scrollers focused on exploration. If the only draw of your game is its length with extremely vanilla action, your game can't be more than a 7/10

If you have the patience, hive blood makes it literally impossible to die.
If not, the grub charm and focus healing let’s you just tank hits and heal after.
Mark of pride and long nail also make pogo jumping easier

15 year old zoomer here, They're both great games and have huge differences from a game design point of view, making any comparisons not really fair. Igavanias have a "let's throw everything at the wall" approach, while Hollow Knight tries to keep everything very concise and textbook.
Hollow Knight is more solid, but also more boring.

>awful optimization

I thought it runs pretty well.

wat

I agree with everything, but complaints about optimization are retarded, the game runs super well on a toaster

I loved stuff like Salt and Sanctuary but I could never get into Hollow Knight. I guess it comes down to the game being more of a platform than a Souls-like

Played SotN in 1997 and can safely say that they are both pretty sweet

it ran fine for me, i dont know what kind of potato you have to be running it on to have performance issues in a 2d platformer. backtracking, sure, but thats a hallmark of metroidvanias. not my favourite thing ever but a lot of people like it. combat was pretty good, dunno what youre on about. artstyle is good, dont know how you can dislike the cartoon aesthetic

Doesn't being 19 in 2019 make you a zoomer?

It actually was optimized like shit when I first played it like 2 years ago, but it has been fixed since. I think they were rendering the background blurring in real time or something like that.

Problem Yea Forums?

Attached: 768689988.jpg (1366x768, 82K)

>>awful optimization

Attached: 1537832364214.jpg (297x545, 38K)

Yeah on release it was really god damn obvious that HK was made by first-timers.

There were so many bugs and unoptimized lagfests when it first came out.

I'm pretty far in blasphemous (fire sword quincie or whatever) and recommending this game over hollow knight is fucking criminal. blasphemous may have better art (debatable really. Apart from the fantastic backgrounds in places, a lot of the enemies are pretty amateur looking) but the overall art direction is much stronger in HK.

desu that makes it more impressive. i mean obviously the bugs and optimisation issues are bad, but the rest of the game is so well put-together, its pretty mental for a first game

pic to prove that I own it

The game sucks. I bought it discounted and stopped playing after about 4 hours;
-The map system is the WORST I have ever seen in any video game, like you have to buy the ability to draw the map and in each new zone you must find the map guy to buy the map for that area. This is ridiculous
-Combat isnt really fun and is just tedious; jump/void an enemy's attack and hit him once with your shitty sword. Rince and repeat until he's death
-While the artstyle is cool, the level design isnt really good and overall boring
-Never really know.where to go, no clear objectives
-A lot of items can be bought in town that have no explanation whatsoever as to what they do

>tl;dr
It's a game for autists. I bet autists love it actually

Attached: 20190124_203732.jpg (3264x1836, 1.12M)

Most of your criticism is subjective, it just sounds like you're not into exploration based games.
Getting lost and figuring out what stuff does is part of the fun.

>here are my entirely subjective criticisms, and if you like this game you must be autistic
How old are you?
