It actually had to do with the limited space of catridges. When they wanted to make FFVII they couldn't figure out anyway they'd fit all 6 or whatever gigs of FMV's on the catridge and said fuck it. There is a 3D demo tho that uses 3D FF6 models. They made it to test the 64 specs.
