I've enjoyed making a new town in the original GCN version after the new horizons announcement. It does have some rough parts such as mailing away five fossils to be examined and only getting back three a day, but overall a good experience. The dialogue is much more engaging if the pics in this thread suffice. The stalk market is simpler with a spike always being a price that's 8x the value of the sunday price instead of patterns that can cause extremely bad luck such as mine in NL with 11 weeks of tracking, a single big spike, and 8 of those weeks being unpredictable Random pricing.

I'd say that the original on Gamecube will be different enough experience from the new one that you will avoid getting burnout from the experience.That being said, I've been stopping myself from playing just to make coming back to the game all the more fresh when it does get released.
The writing is definitely the highlight.

I think it's more the stark contrast compared to how utterly watered down they are now, literally everything they say is either about working out, how to use a fishing rod or "I'm a real [random food] guy you know?" and it's hard to play for any reasonable amount of time before you're seeing the same lines over and over, sometimes in a single session.
