>PC Option Revision

>Please note the following revision concerning PC option availability.

>In the previous Update On PC Version Rewards, the following option for the PC (Epic Games Store) version was announced:

>"If selecting either the PC Physical or PC Digital version, an option to also receive a Steam key one year later will be available."

>As negotiations with Valve are ongoing, we are not able to make a firm commitment at this point concerning the availability of the Steam keys.

>Requests for Steam keys will be accepted through the survey, however, there is the possibility that Steam keys will ultimately not be distributed depending on negotiations with Valve. An announcement will be posted in the updates with the outcome of the negotiations.

>We apologize for this revision to the previously stated PC option.

>Refund Eligibility

>Backers who had already selected a PC version of the game at the time of survey resend will be eligible for a refund. Please note that backers who selected a PS4 version will not be eligible.

>Refund Processing

>Refund processing timing may vary depending on payment service and transaction status. It may take 20 business days to 3 months from the time the refund request is made until the refund transaction is completed.

>We promise to proceed with refund request processing promptly and reliably, however, due to the fact that the campaign is now 4 years on, along with the complexity of the transactions and payment service system arrangements, we ask for your understanding that processing times may vary depending on individual transaction circumstances.

I funded this shit, time to die.

Despite what they say, you can do your refund request RIGHT fucking now. I just did.

Fuck off forever, Yu Suzuki. Never come back.

He'll be back, it still seems like there's more he wants to do with Shenmue.

Yakuza isn't comparable to Shenmue

Supposedly, according to Suzuki, Shenmue is supposed to be something like a 9 game series. I dont know what the fuck he is smoking if he thinks he is gonna get 9 games out of this series.

I'll probably do that, and just suck up to the fact that I had to make a interest free loan to a product that I had no influence over because Deep Silver was able to jew the fucking game and change the game without Kickstarter funding input. I mean, they can't even guarantee that their replacement Steam key can even happen and I paid damn money for a physical copy, I rather get the money and pirate the game.

So done with Kickstarter, I made a giant mistake. I don't care if it is the 2nd coming of Christ in video game format, if it lands on Kickstarter, not touching it until it is in a store.

He better hope Epic is willing to bankroll the games because people and fans like me he screwed over won't be coming back. I won't fund any of his future games ever. Will pirate all of them if they are even worth playing after the horrible showing from the demos.

Even if he had the money to keep it going, he certainly doesn't have the time.
He's already in his 60s, and he thinks he can bang out six more games of that scale? And that's assuming he only works on Shenmue for the rest of his life, and never gets an itch to go back to Virtua Fighter or something.

Hold on, that 9 game figure is new to me. I know he said that he separates the Shenmue games into "Chapters" and that there's 11 chapters of the main arc, but that's news to me.

I just don't get how he's so bad at poorly pacing this story. I hate to use Yakuza as a comparison but honestly the way how story is properly done in those games absolutely shits all over the almost nothing that happened in the 2 games of Shenmue that has existed for decades.

Looking back at it, SEGA had the right idea to not let him continue. Did the HD Collections do well? I barely hear anything about it outside of hardcore enthusiasts of the games.

Shenmue is the most popular game that nobody actually played.

Yes, Yakuza is on an entirely different level.

It's not even popular to watch on Jewtube.

Most "chapters" are one full game. We are currently at chapter 5 or something, with Shenmue 3. Guy is crazy.

The virgin Suzuki and the chad Nagoshi.

IIRC, Shenmue is Chapter 1, there's some graphic novel/comic that's Chapter 2, Shenmue 2 is chapter 3,4 and 5.

Either way it's a fucking bloated story.

...and for what? A simple revenge story that moves so slowly.

Exactly, Yakuza is milse better.

>because Deep Silver was able to jew the fucking game and change the game without Kickstarter funding input
I am torn on Shenmue 3 having so much sources of funding. According to a recent Gamespot article, without more funding it would've just been the story with quick time events in it, which was the same exact thing one user said in a Shenmue thread here or in /vr/ weeks ago. This is probably the only thing ensuring Shenmue 4 even gets made and we get closer to ending this series.

Far as I know SEGA never really commented on them or released sales figures. They always say something like "Yakuza/Judgment exceeded our expectations!", but never Shenmue.

I should've gotten a red flag when Yu said that Shenmue 3 was about 40% of the way through the main plot. I like Shenmue's life sim bits and the attention to detail, but we really don't need a simple martial arts revenge plot taking this goddamn long.

imagine loving a game so much that you give the company making it free money for literally no reason, and the thing that makes you realize you're a retard is not that you gave people money for nothing, but because you have to use a different downloader than you thought

Well the refund rates are pretty low for these Epic reversals so devs who want a quick buck will keep doing it.

That wouldn't have been that bad if it wasn't for the fact that the physical PC version got scrapped because Epic can't make it possible which is when I died inside.

I hope this bucks the trend. I will 100% refund. And I hope Apple Arcade and their gaming app store focus shift will fuck Tim Sweeny a new one.

>hurr durr different downloader

It's almost the end of 2019 user it's high time you realize it's not that simple.

Yakuza is way too different, Shenmue is much more about the daily life.

When you realize the deal is so good they can take a 100% refund but the refund rates won't even make it to 20% there's no financial incentive at all not to sell out.

There's that, but in a way I think that's why Yakuza is so successful and loved. Shenmue is slow, it's more interested in having players feel like they're in a virtual world than a simple action game that appeals to everyone.

Suzuki has already expressed interest in working on the Virtua Fighter series again.

Shenmue HD performed well according to Sega. Retail sales alone were +100K in it's first week

n4g.com/news/2208136/shenmue-i-and-ii-sells-an-estimated-107-971-units-first-week-at-retail

i have a feeling this game is pretty much dead on arrival

Normally you wouldn't be wrong, but it's hard to tell in this case. Shenmue 3's CE sold out within an hour, so clearly people are still excited, even if some of these people may just be people for what Shenmue 3 represented and not because its more Shenmue

5000 units at $100 a pop ain't too bad.
