Is Zelda white? Why is it that Japan likes to blur racial lines so hard? Some characters like the new FF7 Tifa is undeniably asian but in the past it was more ambiguous (hence all the threads about her) To me most Zelda characters are white but Hyrule Warriors Link and Skyward Sword Link are weirdly kind of asian looking. Why the fuck do they do this?
Is Zelda white? Why is it that Japan likes to blur racial lines so hard...
The Japanese people worship Native Europeans. That's why they very often make their characters Native European looking, and the reason why in Dragonball for exmple, even though we're dealing with black haired monkeys (Saiyajins), when they get stronger they get blonde hair.
>Why is it that Japan likes to blur racial lines so hard?
>DURR WHAT IS FANTASY DURR
they're Hylian
They are based off of human beings
irrelevant
No? Even highly stylized characters can have racial markers, and Japan fascinates me because they get as close as they can to overt racial features without actually getting there. At least most of the time (more standard manga styles). However Zelda characters scream European but I still see people argue that they aren't sometimes.
Bump
It's just their style. Jill Valentine in RE is supposed to be hapa.
You're just faceblind. Pretty much all Japanese characters (like Tifa) have always been Asian, not white. You're just retarded
If I was faceblind there wouldn't be so many arguments about this. No one argues if western comic characters look white or not.
shut up nigger
>game based on western fantasy tropes
>DUUUHHH IS ZELDA WHITE? SHE CAN'T BE WHITE, BECUZ THIS IS A JAPANESE GAME, RIGHT?
Prosopagnosia. Learn the word you illiterate ass.
>Why is it that Japan likes to blur racial lines so hard
The real question is why the West is so intent on applying real races to fantasy settings.
Japan creators generally aren't thinking about race 24/7 unlike the west.
And it depends on the artist, some draw in specific ethnic facial features, while for most of them the only differing features they bother with are skin color and hair.
user, when a feature is ambiguous, your brain associates it with your own race. You're white so you associate Zelda's ambiguous features as white. A jap sees Zelda and he's 100% sure she's pure jap.
Calling bullshit. If you’re this invested in Zelda, you already know about Gerudos and Sheikah.
>and the reason why in Dragonball for exmple, even though we're dealing with black haired monkeys (Saiyajins), when they get stronger they get blonde hair.
What's it like talking about something you know nothing about?
>Is Zelda white?
Did you not play WInd Waker? It's a plot point in that game.
>Best zelda is in the worst zelda
Fuk me.
ST is not the worst Zelda game
No it's because Toriyama was a lazy fuck who didn't want to color in all the hair all the time so he made an excuse for himself not to do so
feet
You know what's funny though? Link from OoT is confirmed to be based on a popular 90s western actor, implied to be DiCaprio I believe. So the fucking character designers clearly didn't see him as japanese. It's contradictory.
I mean you don't need to attribute actors to specific incarnations of anyone. The design and concept for Link is so obviously based on Peter goddamn Pan that you've probably known this your entire life and never spoken of it.
