Some places are pointlessly stretched on for no reason, but it's still an enjoyable game. I don't know why Yea Forums hates it so much.
Some places are pointlessly stretched on for no reason, but it's still an enjoyable game...
You must've not been here when it launched. It was like Yea Forums discovered the joys of video games for the first time.
Just look at the ground. Looks like he's standing on greenish diarrhea. The scenery is dull and bleached. Not even the low budget Sonic TV show in CGI looks this bad.
I felt like a kid playing Zelda 2 for the first time again. BotW was great.
Nintendo dominated the open world genre on their first try so I get why they're upset
this. every day had thread about it. it's like zoomers and sois discovered zelda games for the first time.
This was me. Buying a switch on launch was worth it solely for this experience.
>I don't know why Yea Forums hates it so much.
Seething snoygoys that didn't get a chance to play the game, that's why.
desu it's not my favourite Zelda but it's top ten easy. I love emulating it and starting a fresh file with some amiibo items like the Sword and Hero's shield and the complete wild outfit and just doing roaming around on Epona as soon as I can.
Yea Forums's not one person. The majority of people here that played it enjoyed it a lot. Some vocal, contrarian minority probably dislikes it, but they're just that. Most people that don't enjoy things don't go out of their way to shit on other peoples' parade.
Only thing I wish it had were some reocurring items and the ability to tame animals
That would be cool
So I haven't beaten the game yet, but I know the DLC introduces a motorcycle. Should I buy the DLC to get it? Or do I have to beat the game first.
Is the DLC even worth it?
I really liked the DLC, but I would rather use epona than use the motorcycle.
Just got a switch and have been playing a few other games, but after hearing about how good BotW is, finally got it.
Didn't get very far, just to the first village with the Sheikah but so far it doesn't really seem like a Zelda to me. The shrines are too samey, breakable weapons suck, and it just kind of feels like a Ubisoft collectathon. Not what I was expecting.
Am I just being too harsh? Does it get better?
they should have more world events like eventide and typhlo ruins or interesting locations like the forgotten temple instead of bandit camps out the ass. and 90% of enemy encounters are goblins or lizards; it would be more interesting if each area had its own variety.
>The shrines are too samey, breakable weapons suck, and it just kind of feels like a Ubisoft collectathon
Those points are absolutely valid, user. The game is flawed. I do think you're being too harsh, though.
Nah, it's a cool base game with solid mechanics and an enjoyable exploration aspect as long as it holds your attention.
Once you get the gameplay loop down it gets old real quick - at least it did for me. Feels like they were close to a fantastic game, and some of the moments are really cool. I'd say play until you really stop enjoying it, then just finish it up. Don't try and get/do everything.
Just started my third playthough since I finally got a switch and after 300 hours I am still discovering new shit.
>Yea Forums's is one person. The minority of people here that played it enjoyed it a lot. Some vocal, contrarian majority probably dislikes it, but they're just neck beards. Most people that don't enjoy things don't go out of their way to shit on other peoples' parade.
Fixed
I don't hate it. I just hate all the shitposting and I hate that the E3 gameplay made me look forward to something they absolutely didn't deliver on.
>the E3 gameplay made me look forward to something they absolutely didn't deliver on
what e3 gameplay are you talking about?
this fucking retard probably means that 2014 e3 video that was blatantly a bullshot cinematic that everyone with half a braincell knew wasn't going to be the final game. all actual gameplay videos after that showed pretty much exactly what was in the final game.
mod it on PC, fag. doesnt fix the ground textures, but it fixes the color palette and framerate, and verything except the ground textures is solid
Right looks better.
No, I'm talking about the E3 2016 gameplay. There was a part where someone picked up some rock salt and the description mentioned an "ancient sea," so I thought there would be lots of lore and connections to WW, but all we ended up getting was some bullshit about ancient robots and an advanced society we don't get to know anything about aside from their existence.
Also, I was hoping that areas would be more diverse with points of interest, people, sidequests, etc., but that wasn't necessarily based on what they showed off. To put it simply, I was hoping for an actually fleshed out WW from a gameplay standpoint where you could explore all sorts of cool areas in a similar way to Zelda 2 as well.
This guy had it right. The first like 3 weeks of the game being out was literally nothing but everyone getting giddy about what little shit they stumbled upon or what neat trick they found.
So you based all of your expectations entirely on a bit of flavor text and you just making up shit in your head? cool.
Do they not own pc?
Yeah, but what's wrong with that? From the beginning, they said they were rethinking the conventions of Zelda and boiling it down to the most basic parts, but they didn't do very much after that. The whole thing just comes off as half baked where there was a lot of potential.
So you read into the salt thing and that's the basis for your claim that they showed something the game "absolutely didn't deliver on"?
It's hard to say the e3 gameplay "made [you] look forward to something" when it was a benign detail they didn't go into or expand in any presentation.
>To put it simply, I was hoping for an actually fleshed out WW from a gameplay standpoint where you could explore all sorts of cool areas in a similar way to Zelda 2 as well.
That's what you got. Sounds like you're a WWfag that wanted Wind Waker 2.
It's literally different from all the other 3D games in the series and it's basically a re-imagining of the first game in a lot of ways. What kind of mush is your brain?
Why is the moonshine white when the moon is red?
It's just a giant piece of side content that suffers with the same problem MGSV suffers with in that it's too unfocused. Once you've burnt out the quirks in the mechanics everything starts being incredibly repetitive giving the game no replay value. Past games are more memorable and offer replayability going through the satisfying adventure.
>It's literally different from all the other 3D games in the series
I'm not denying that, I'm saying they stripped it down and did a half assed job building the game afterward.
>it's basically a re-imagining of the first game in a lot of ways
No, that's a retarded analogy Nintendo fed as a marketing tactic. The game has parallels to a lot of the past 3D titles despite what they said.
>So you read into the salt thing and that's the basis for your claim that they showed something the game "absolutely didn't deliver on"?
I was led to believe there was strong lore and was left sorely disappointed.
>It's hard to say the e3 gameplay "made [you] look forward to something" when it was a benign detail they didn't go into or expand in any presentation.
I thought they would, I thought they'd continue to pay attention to small details like that the same way they always have.
>That's what you got.
No, what I got was the same 10 hour tech demo repeated 8 times.
We must be from different timelines because every time I see this game people are kissing it's ass to high heavens.
"Stretched" is the last word I'd use to describe BOTW. It's very tight. The entire game is practically optional. The world is big, but it feels small due to the movement options. It's literally the only open world game I've ever played where the act of just moving from one place to another is fun in and of itself.
fairies
this, i played the game and i didnt have to buy a tendy console
>i have no imagination and require linear scripted "content" to enjoy a game
Its empty, ugly, repetitive and takes its cues from western openworld trash like ass creed. Not to mention the fucking awful dungeons. The praise for this turd is absolutely baffling
>i love making my own fun doing repetitive stuff in slightly different ways
See, I can do it too.
It's not the best game ever created and not the worst shit ever. Both retarded videogame journalist and 3rd worder consolewars retards take it to the extreme. They probably didn't play it at all. A fun and interesting experience for me. 80 hours and a lot replay. A must have on switch. 8/10
No, consolewar faggots are poorfags. Their PC barely runs emulators.
>i love making my own fun
And that's a problem? Kek
>doing repetitive stuff
Never, ever.
@477536782
0/10, not even worth a (You)
There's no point user, when a Zelda fan starts resorting to ad hominems over the latest 3D Zelda because you bring reasonable criticism to it they're unable to process the idea that what they defend is flawed.
