Jesus fucking Christ you morons, learn physics. Velocity (and thus momentum) is always relative, in Portal's case not to the world but to the portal itself. The cube flying into the portal at 60mph will have the same effect as the portal slamming into the cube at 60 mph.

If it can't get into your head, consider the following: the portal is closing the distance at say, 10 meters / second. The cube can't exit the other portal at any slower speed, or it would be crushed by itself. The momentum of the cube would be its velocity * its mass, with sufficient velocity, it would be sent flying to whatever direction the end portal is facing.
