After all these years (how many...three?), the immense butthurt that a very successful game set in a fantasy setting (the tragedy!) caused histcucks has still not abated. The fact that here in Yea Forums, their own general they had for many years became ours in a matter of months, is still like cutting inside to their bone to this day.
After history failures like TOB or the fact that their beloved Rome 2 became only recently at least properly playable, is something that they cannot and will not ever swallow. Given where the 3rd game is located it is possible that they may reuse some assets from 3 Kingdoms and put in Cathay as a faction.
When we have the full unified Mortal Empires map they may also look at doing Dogs of War.

Well Mark of Chaos and Battle March were kinda more in the vein of SoTHR and Dark Omen (and these latter two indirectly inspired the Total War series). So it came full circle.

Honestly I wonder how they will make the 3rd game. Dark Lands and Mountains of Mourn are the logical steps onward. But then these would be only two factions (Chaos Dwarfs and Ogre Kingdoms). Three if we add Chaos Daemons. But how will they fit in Kislev? They would need to add a piece of the Old World map (Kislev + World Edge Mountains). Actually fitting since Chaos Dwarfs have a bone to pick up with their normal kin.

Pure luck. Total Warhammer being great was a 50/50 shot with CA, and Fatshark making Vermintide 1 & 2 as good as they are is literally insane. Odds are the global map will be panned slightly south (trimming off the huge swath of the northern pole north of Norsca) and slightly east (trimming off at least half of the western half of Naggaroth and Lustria) to make room for new lands east of the current eastern map edge. I also suspect many factions will be condensed, with multiple LL's filed under a single faction rather than each LL having their own. Ex no dozen lizardmen, delf, helf, or skaven factions.
