What do you think is going to end up being your game of the generation user?

What do you think is going to end up being your game of the generation user?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 236K)

It's undeniable that minecraft is the most influential game of the 2010s. It's the tetris of its age. But my gotg is W3.

Attached: 1563716773430.jpg (1145x873, 290K)

Factorio

Red Dead Redemption 2

probably bayo 3

this. and its not even close

Monster hunter world.

If you consider this gen a xbone/ps4/switch, then probably botw, mgs5, bloodborne or maybe witcher 3. But if popularity amongst masses is the criteria, then nothing comes close to overwatch, minecraft, fortnite and other casual multipiss for normies.

>Game of the generation
>Mechanically mediocre game with input delay that punishes you for not following the yellow line for missions
Ew

>muh tank controls and autismfests of meaningless timesink activities
rockstar overdoes it. and for a story driven game, second part of the game is a letdow

seething weebs

rocket league

>let's use our massive budgets and state of the art engine to create the most jaw dropping open world available...
>then let's focus heavily on linear walking sim garbage while an amazing cast of voice actors does their best to make houser garbage sound compelling to morons raised on dull cliches

>linear
confirmed for not playing the game

nobody gives a fuck about rdr2 allready. You know it's true, it was a tiresome and bloated experience.

>>God of Walk

It's just a picture to start the thread user. My own game of the generation right now is a three-way tie between Frozen Synapse 2 (based entirely on its multiplayer), Nex Machina and Hollow Knight. Tough to choose

It's better than W3

Attached: bear.webm (768x432, 2.88M)

Bloodborne I'd wager. If the entirety of TW3 was on the level of its DLC, it'd be TW3. G4d of War is The Last of Us but with Kratos.
Also a fine contender.
No way. Not with that two-dimensional as shit conflict with Micah.

Witcher 3
but i'm a gigantic witcher nerd so i'm biased

Attached: 1556024532641.jpg (1024x975, 161K)

lol what are you talking about it's one of the greatest open worlds of all times it also just happens to have a bunch of great singleplayer missions to with it

>a bunch of great singleplayer missions to with it
>Walk/ride slowly with character talking to you
>Something goes wrong and shootout happens on the trip
>Repeat forever

Technicaly? offcourse. storywise, lorewise, design wise? dunno. Considering that w3 is 4 years old, it is incredible how engaging and complete the experience it delivers

Yes there is more than one mission that has you horse ride to a place and shoot things, hardly the worst thing you could do in a horse ride and shoot game though, not to mention all of the missions that aren't that tbqh.

1. Witcher 3
2. Hollow Knight
3. RDR2
4. BotW
5. Celeste
Honorable mention goes to Xenoblade 2 and Wolfenstein 2

However, Cyberpunk 2077 has a chance of being the number one in the end, and games like Silksong, BotW 2, DQ11S and some others could definitely end up on this list.

Yes on all counts, even the UX in W3 is shit and only got a pass because le poor Slavic games studio lol

nah. maybe in graphics. I loved RDR2 but it really has nothing on Witcher 3 except hunting and voice acting I guess.

okay bud

Toss up between bloodborne and xenoblade 2, unless Prime 4 and the next xenoblade deliver more.

Keep being contrarian I guess.

Awesome cinematic animations bro

Attached: 1560134253645.png (800x900, 318K)

Nier Automata.

DMC5, it was everything I ever wanted and more.
Except the loading screens.

RDR2 story it's miles better than the "Let's find ciri" story of TW3.

lul

BB easily

But that's all gameplay, look at the prompts...

spbp

Resident evil 2 remake is a good game too.

With barely any interactivity outside of smashing B to break free. That's not compelling game mechanics

Keep mindlessly following whatever gets the most rewards from journalists I guess

Eeven though those are amazing games, every single person who neglects Breath of the Wild as the most influential game of this decade is objectively wrong and seriously biased.

Attached: 1494547546794.jpg (1500x844, 181K)

I was pinned down by a bear and would've died if I didn't hit the remedy prompts on time either.

Isn't that essentially the equivalent of QTEs?

There is someone that put time and effort making this holy shit. Someone actually has the necesity to defend the most reddit game of all time

>can’t just say he likes a game
>has to validate his feelings by couching it in language regarding influence
>but if you disagree YOURE the biased one

Did I touch a nerve, mate?

Attached: 1487194567042.jpg (600x800, 155K)

QTE's aren't inherently bad.

the game hasn’t been out long enough for these sorts of claims about its lasting impact. you’re deluded.

For me, it's Control.

Attached: controlimage.jpg (1920x1080, 290K)

Great story, but the gameplay is just mediocre and nothing crazy.

yeah I am. I think people like you are genuinely retarded. just say you like what you like, you don’t have to concoct some grand narrative to justify your feelings.

Personally I'm tempted to say something like Prey or Alien Isolation since they both really impressed me with faithfulness to being immersive sims.

However to be honest I'd have to put down this gem as my personal game of the generation.

RDR2

I would have to say The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild

Minecraft has clearly become a timeless classic, and should seriously be considered. Then BotW was clearly groundbreaking in the open world field and gave players as unprecedented amount of freedom, though if I were to guess, it will be soon overshadowed by its sequel if its improves on any lacking fields.

Witcher 3 because it always wins these fixed award ceremonies.

Breath of the Wild is my favorite this generation.

Hahahahahahaha cybercuck is not going to be a great game. Might be fun for a while

maybe stop coming on a discussion board for games if you don’t like discussing games? yes I’m mad, we’ve already established this. you’re the cancer killing this board and I would like you to fuck off.

These is some serious fuckery going on in this tier list.

>old blood is lower then tNC

Minecraft. Fortnite.

For me its DQXI

Out of the 3 in the op?
Bloodborne is the best game there but normies can't play Souls games because they require you to press more than 1 button so gow or witcher win automatically

You're the one getting butthurt lmao

Attached: 015.png (434x327, 37K)

I love Warband and I too think it's deserving of praise, but I don't consider 2010 to be this generation.

Agreed. I think BotW will be looked back on as the best

**Infiniminer

My game of the generation? Either Darkest Dungeon or Hitman 2 w/ Hitman1 DLC.

of the three my favorite is bloodborne.
but GOTG is entirely subjective and if you're going by the metric of how influential its still too early to tell.
So TDLR your thread is shit and OP is a fag

>big empty world with braindead combat and shitty story
>most influential game of the decade
loL

Attached: zoomda.png (1024x737, 1.09M)

I know no one will agree with me but Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Jurassic World Evolution were unironically the most fun I had with modern AAA games in probably 10 years

More like Red Dead Redemption Poo

Mine are a few:
>The Witcher 3
>Prey
>HITMAN
>Overwatch

Are you an idiot? The picture is just something pulled from Google images for the OP picture

You know what? Maybe you're right after all, bro. Ain't a shame to show my true colors, though

In terms of time spent playing it and how it affected the industry, PUBG

>as the most influential game of this decade
The game is two and a half years old and I ain't seeing any other empty climbing-simulators being released.

Cope

>complaining no other companies are releasing games like this
>real thing is not even the biggest AAA publishers can achieve a masterpiece like BotW, being that the reason no other games like this are released

>no game has been influenced by it
>b-b-but that is because they are too incompetent to be influenced by it
kek, cope more

It has better gameplay than either of them yes and don't pretend like MP wasn't worse with its cutscenes

Probably Witcher 3 just for the insane amount of content it’s the game that keeps on giving.

>It has better gameplay than either of them

It's not even close. Max Payne 3 is still the best shooting game Rockstar has made in terms of gameplay, even if the story wasn't particularly compelling.

but I didn't enjoy any game I played this generation

too linear, not enough gameplay

It’s Witcher 3

Looking back on this reply after reading the thread, it's funny how much people give RDR2 shit regarding input delay but don't have a problem with Witcher 3's own control issues, which had to be patched multiple times to lessen.

Boil more, you teapot

Attached: 1494943518415.jpg (392x532, 38K)

RDR2 doesn't even have control issues, it's just zoomers who can't handle that it doesn't play like their favorite Ubisoft trash

Bayo 2 was garbage and a step back from the original, don't know why do you think 3 will be any better

RDR2 has 10 frames of input lag, which is ludicrous on a 30fps title.

no it doesn't

For me, Shadow Tactics, although Desperados 3 has a good chance of topping it.

>bloodborne
>cinematic
based retard

>FOTM trash
Lmao.

In terms of influence on the industry this is most certainly worth consideration.

Attached: farcry3.jpg (220x274, 32K)

Aside from overly animated villains what did Far Cry 3 do? Also it's a last-gen game.

Witcher 3 is the most memorable one.

Bloodborne
Witcher 3

God of War
Spider-Man

in that order

>what is Genshin Impact

GoW
RDR2
Witcher 3
Sekiro
Bloodborne

in that order

RDR2 is like BOTW and it's the greatest video game of all time

Attached: 2019-07-01_10-00-31_AM-3anan5en.jpg (3840x2160, 2.2M)

except pubG literally stole game design from DayZ, which has effected the industry

From a technical perspective? Yes. From a gameplay and story prospective? No, the gameplay is a hot topic with valid arguments on both sides and the story falls apart with even the smallest amount of scrutiny after you pull rockstars wool off your eyes.

Arthur's probably the best voice acted/designed protagonist this generation though.

you sound biased

Who isn't? Bias is inherent.

yeah but you sound really biased

all videogame stories wouldn't even make a decent movie
the problem with RDR2 is that the world is just there for show and nothing really matters, no game mechanics actually influence the story, even money is useless, it's all just for show

I wasn't even that guy you replied to, I'm just pointing out that both people for and against RDR2 have their own inherent biases.

>Yea Forums told me what to think of the game: the post

Best games of this generation are, in order:
1. N++
2. The Evil Within
3. Dark Souls 3
4. Hotline Miami 2
5. Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions
6. Nex Machina
7. R6 Siege
8. Furi
9. DivOS 2
10. Red Dead 2 or Hollow Knight

Attached: 1563645383465.jpg (750x747, 67K)

okay

Probably TLoU in my opinion but I haven't played W3. I don't know why I can't be interested in it

>TLoU

Attached: 1368015607534.png (1280x720, 1002K)

DMC5. Not even sure what else was close.

I'm just going by my personal experience with the game, I played it twice to full completion. I was wowed by the story the first time I played it but the second go through I had a lot of "wait, this is retarded, why is Arthur doing this? His personal motivations are getting harder to support and it's making no sense at all". The game play is kind of hit or miss for me, I certainly don't mind how slow it is but I definitely had a couple of frustration moments.

> last of uf and detroit that high
> practically every fromsoft game near bottom
Shit taste mate . I can smell your dark sousl hate-boner over a mile away.

I'm just having fun fucking around. There's so much detail in the world it feels like a true next gen shooter

this but you can't say this on Yea Forums

Fortnite didn't just re-invent gaming as a whole...it also shaped humanity in something new..........

>TLOU in its' own tier
obvious bait

What was your biggest disappointment of the generation?

why bother when you can make another ultra casual friendly experience and rack up another 100m in sales

Fine probably red dead series as a whole

Dark Souls

DeS didn't make that much of an impact, but DaS set a new standard for difficulty and influenced gaming as a whole becoming a marker for ARPGs.

The amount of lore and discussion of the story rivals Elder Scrolls.

The variety of play keeps people hooked for hundreds, if not thousands, of hours.

Look at how many reviews call things "the dark souls of ______" it became something that we hold a standard to for the genre and games as a whole.

It's a testament to gameplay>graphics.

I'm a dumbass. Wrong generation...

all three are dogshit

MGS5

this

Why tho correct me if wrong but it belongs

Most influential? Probably MineCraft. My favorite of the decade would be Dark Souls.

Mario Odyssey

Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is the game of the millennium

Attached: 1550007913943.webm (720x538, 2.01M)

It didn't influence anything tho, everything was already done in the open world genre.

The Elden Ring.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ELDEN RING

>the most influential game of this decade
wouldn't that be Dark Souls? I know this thread is specifically this gen but DaS has continued having an impact since 2011

Bloodborne just for being part of the dark souls series. GoW is a far shot from being game of its generation. Witcher has always been very overrated, 3 was the only one with all the awards but I don't see it being influential to either game designers or the gaming public. Meanwhile dark souls sort of re-introduced this generation to very "gamey" games - little emphasis on story, very mechanical combat, item and character attribute system, etc.

I loved the game and played the hell out of it, but I can't say that it broke new ground. Despite its grand environment, sense of wonder & awe, and impressive physics engine utilized into gameplay, it was quite derivative of other games had done before it. Witcher 3 suffers the same problem, incredible game, but it didn't break that much new ground.

It was also weird how they pushed the player to explore. Players did a lot of sidequests in Witcher 3 to get more bits of story as a reward, players in Breath Of The Wild were always pushing into new terriotry to replenish their weapons which became consumables because they always broke. One of the tricks of Witcher 3 was also just adding sweet and sour to every thing.

Something bad happens, add a little humor. Something good happens, add drama or death.

That part where the lady bard sings the love song Lilacs and blueberries, where everybody in (and outside) the bar were just happy and enjoying the moment, some people crying, followed by a standing ovation.............then some random lady points at you and calls you a murderer.

Kids humorously saying they'll live in the wild, live happily ever after, and never grow old? Stress that the "never grow old" part will probably be true (becasue they'll die).

Some guy pretends to be a Witcher, impregnating women, eating the town's food & being general asshole? Make joke out of him and get him to work in the town fields the rest of his life, and town can "work him extra hard because he's a Witcher".

The game had nice writing and world building, but once you see that trick happen again and again, it loses its luster.

>1. N++
>5. Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions
>6. Nex Machina
>7. R6 Siege
>8. Furi
>9. DivOS 2
>Hollow Knight
Great taste. Only negative I'd say is Hotline Miami 2 which is a huge step down in level design compared to the first

That was a last gen game ported to this gen which disqualifies it.

Needs to be either PS4/Xbone only or released on PC after 2013, if it was on PS3/360 first or it was a PC game released before 2012 it doesn't count.

I agree, game as a lot of fun.

Attached: DRAGON QUEST XI Super-Resolution 2018.09.11 - 13.46.47.69.jpg (3840x2160, 3.61M)

this generation sucked

MGSV

Probably a game that doesn't deserve it.

Attached: 1567744438903.webm (892x642, 1.36M)

Personal GOTG is DOOM, the game which has had the most influence on the market was probably DayZ, it was a precursor to the survival and battle royale fads, or mobile games in general, given the current state of microtransactions.

Battlefront 2

Nothing holds a candle to it.

Attached: 0df60d621f9aa2d2d46faa158cd98801.jpg (767x1080, 233K)

Easily Bloodborne.
I fucking love REmake 2 to death, but it's a remake.
And as much as I enjoyed Breath of the Wild, I don't ever go back and replay open world games so....

Witcher 3 is overrated af. The game has 2-3 memorable main quests, if it wasn't its 2DLCs, I'D rate it 5/10

Attached: 1383186900746.jpg (300x300, 21K)

>for me
Blood Borne
Nier Automata

>for normalfags
RDR2
Witcher 3
nuGOW
Horizon Zero Dawn

I wanted to like Witcher 3 but something kept putting me off and I dont know what.

MGS5 maybe. I love it as a game but it left a lot to be desired as a Metal Gear entry

The controls being good or bad isn't subjective. They're bad period. Stop being a deluded retard.

>Fallout fucking 4 got more GOTY votes than Bloodborne

This is how you know games journalists aren’t to be taken seriously

This is bait

>I wanted to like Witcher 3 but something kept putting me off and I dont know what.

I felt the exact same way. Every time I think of playing it again I go ‘ehh is there anything else I can play’. I can’t put my finger on what repels me from it though.

>this generation sucked

Compared to seventh gen this gen is amazing

>tw3
>nu-gow
cringe

This was a hard truth for me to admit, but yeah like this gen wasn’t great but go back and look at last gen and you have endless CoD/third person shooters brown and bloom from the west, and from the east you have... pretty much nothing of note except for Demon’s Souls.

Minecraft will probably be the game of the decade, but for the generation? Unironically UNDERTALE or Overwatch.

>Minecraft

A tough one to call given that it released before this generation started, but has been consistently updated

Honestly I think I liked this gen more than I did the 90s, felt like games finally became what I always thought they could when I was that age and now with better resolutions and faster storage it's looking even better.

Attached: tpp (2).png (748x173, 178K)

That's why I said of the decade. It only ~just~ missed it as well, and if you consider 3DS the start of this generation, then it was released within the generation. However, if you're going off of the home console cycle, then see the spoiler.
