Banjo Kazooie was a pretty sad game, now that you mention it.

He knows that only sad souls wanted Banjoke and that they were sad cringe manchildren for constantly bothering them about some dumb bear it’s like they didn’t want to add it but did it only to please annoying autists

No, I meant from a storytelling perspective. Things like Bottles dying and his sister getting kidnapped.

Even Gruntilda is somewhat sad.

Mumbo's backstory is also messed up. His face was cursed by Grunty and it never changed back to normal.

I guess that's the difference between the heroes and the villains in that story. Grunty's whole motivation is to become attractive, but when Mumbo is changed to look how he does, he doesn't even care about getting back to normal.
