I've been trying to figure that out for a while now, but coudn't do it.
The enviroment was an issue for me too, at it adds pretty much nothing to the storytelling and is not inspired at all (at least the Demo areas). The only area with a resemblance of soul is the main hub, but it's not particularly good in that matter. There's hoping that the characters can make up for that, too, but the lines of dialogue aren't that intriguing in the sections tha we were allowed to play. That said, the combat is the strongest point of the experience. Queen's Knight play as a OG Souls boss.

Game is shit, DaS 1 has the worst combat of every Soulsborne game.
Is gameplay still janky?
Did they add weight to attacks?
That's a pretty edgy opinion, bud, but I kind of agree. However, what makes DaS 1 combat subpar is the lack of polish, and that CV does well.
the demo was okay but i’ll probably wait on a sale for this one. the game feels slightly off, like a bit floaty. not terrible but not as deliberate or weighty like a souls game.

And this is after the delay. Never trust GE team and their uninspired shovelware.
It's not floaty, if that's what you're asking. And the hitboxes work well. Using heavy weapons makes your character slower and the attack animations take more time. Poise actually exists, which shocked me. I felt the heavy weapons culd use a little more of weight tho.
WRONG. Enemies move way too quickly and have way too much tracking. One on one mook fights feel insubstantial and group fights feel like an absolute cluster fuck.
The gameplay needs a shitload more polish, there's also no height slider.
But these two posts are in agreement? Combat is floaty like DS1 and it doesn't try to replicate DS1 atmosphere, because it's only trying to sell anime tits, which is soulless.
