The art and character design are top tier but everything else is utterly without soul or purpose. The worlds may as well be empty, I could even walk through chairs sometimes. Just everything is completely pointless.
It's really sad because it's a beautiful world full of tons of great art, props, buildings etc, but almost all of them have zero purpose, zero gameplay etc. It all serves as a pretty backdrop for making numbers bigger to enter a circular raiding feedback loop. Where's the adventure?

the state of housing is fucking abyssmal in this game, housing districts are almost entirely empty, I remember back in ARR there would usually be plenty of people running around housing wards since houses were FC's only, when they made personal housing, it soaked up all the plots and made every ward a ghost town

I prefer ffxivs system over wows system because the animations in ffxiv look a whole lot better. it flows well and makes sense. meanwhile in wow you got 2-3 different animations all clipping at once because of the gcd+procs which makes your character look like they're having a seizure.
It isn’t fun so why should I care? I put in the effort just to get the win, but only for the reward. I don’t actually care about it. In fact I hate it. It’s probably the worst grind of any content in the game. I’d honestly rather be in daidem than sitting through a 30 minute game of frontlines but it’s worth it for the mounts, titles and gear.

get gear from expert + goatse tomestones to get i440, make sure you cap on phanta tomestones from running expert roulette at least a few times a week, put cheap +40 materia on your i440 gear then put the +60s on your i450+ upgrades
once you're in all i440 do eden normal raids, upgrade torso = legs > hands = head = feet > belt
after weekly lockout do extreme trials, run titania until you get i450 weapon, and innocence until you get all i450accs
if you have i450 weapon and i450 accs and probably 1 piece of i460 gear from eden normal you can do eden savage
note that you'll need to set aside 1000 tomestones by buying tokens for your phanta i460 weapon in 7 weeks from clearing eden 4 normal unless you get the drop from clearing eden 2 savage, 10 tokens means setting aside tokens at least 3 weeks since the weekly cap is 450 phanta

Classic is such a good game that its hype got me to try the starter addition of FFXIV. It was mildly fun for about 10 hours, purely off the back of nostalgia for the old ps1 games. It's dirt cheap and it's a far better use of your time to get the gil for it than it is to farm 10 runs of innocence, 10 runs of titania, and a dozen runs of eden normal. My friends power levelled to 70 shortly before Shadowbringers and they were able to scrounge up gil to get almost all crafted gear and jump into some epic echo raiding. Gear was more expensive back then too, closer to your 500k number.

Some mobs do have skills. They even buff eachother and some group of mobs actually heal so you have to focus the healing one first. As for seamless zones...I don't think that'd be possible without remaking the engine or something, they can't just slap the decision in, sadly.

I think that healers SHOULD DPS but giving tools for players to spend LESS time healing is fucking retarded. Give us less oGCD heals and more oGCD damage skills instead, or make or heals do some damage so people don't have to stop healing to damage shit.

How exactly do you win at the game by making mad bank? You can buy crafted stuff and pentameld all you want, but someone who goes into savages with normal mode gear can clear them just fine. Or do you count a quicker clear (assuming those extra stats are not wasted on sub-optimal play) as "winning"?

use your cooldowns idiot. Healers are meant to dps and occasionally press an ogcd heal. That's how healers are "interesting" now.

The way they're doing bosses you can literally throw your oGCD's every once in a while and just mash your damage skill because the fights are way too lenient on parties that aren't topped off. The only healer that actually has any semblance of optimization right now is AST.
They can still attain the drops when clearing the three preceding fights weekly, so all you are really saving by pentamelding crafted gear is time. It's not so much pay to win as it is pay for convenience.
Endgame officially starts once you beat ARR and see the credits. There's a shit ton of raids after those credits.
If the best counter you have to a game re-release from 15 year old game having more end game content is "At least we don't kill trash mobs" then I think you've already lost.
There's no reason a developer as big as Square Enix should release an expansion so lacking in content.
