I plugged in a PS3 controller to my computer. Steam detects it, you see it here clear as day, but I can't define layout, can't calibrate the sticks, and it does NOTHING in the controller games that I've tested it with.

jesus, steamcucks are fucking retarded
Being able to see and being able to interact with something are two completely different things.
God, zoomers need to die.
You're dumb as fuck dude, go get scp tool
OP here, I looked into it and the easiest way to get a PS3 controller working is to simply install PlaystationNow. I got it going. Controller is working in Sonic Mania on Steam, but still, I think Steam should've been nice enough to get the controller working for me if they're going to go through the trouble of identifying it in their client.
are you fucking stupid user? you can literally configure it through that menu

Sony likely doesn't want Valve to do that since it wouldn't encourage people to buy a PS4 controller, which IS customizable through Steam.
>PS3 controller

>Not superior PS4 controller
user.... you might have brain problems.
god forbid op had a ps3 once
You need the directinput drivers that come with PS Now. That's it.
They aren't identifying anything. They're just looking at that Windows detects and Windows detects the controller. The problem is there are no direct input drivers available for the controller. Hence why you need to get them through PSNow

LOL EPIC GAMES WINS AGAIN BABY!
You're a fucking retard and this was a shit blogpost.
you have to install the officitial(tm) sony(tm) dualshock3(tm) drivers first
or just use a ds4 instead
Not him, but I don't own any consoles newer than a PS3 and the only other USB controller I have is an old Gravis gamepad that doesn't even have analog sticks. I don't feel the need to go out and buy more controllers if I can get by with the ones I have.
PS3 controllers d-pad is better than 4s.
Maybe you should shove the controller up your ass, or keep it plugged to your console where it belongs.
