Problem for DOA is the gaming media has a hate-boner for it going back at least 13 years, and are unwilling to let it drop, even as KT drives the series into the ground trying to appease them. It's on life support as it is and all we ever hear about is #RapeCulture raging about Venus Vacation. They pulled back on the fanservice in DOA6, but that wasn't good enough for the culture warriors, because VV still existed, even if it was only available overseas. I just tried Core Values version of 6 a couple days ago, so the very first thing I need to say is it shouldn't fucking CRASH every time I quit the game. Anyway:
- Game needs a SHITLOAD more content because it looked like an absolute wasteland. Yeah yeah, it was the free version, but I could see all the locked stuff and that is too little to be worth anything.
- Stop putting in inputs that require me to tap a diagonal before pressing a button, those are impossible to do on Dpad.
- This is the big one, you know it: girls and costumes need to look better. That is your main attraction. Treat it as such and don't act ashamed of it. Also I'm not just talking about the tiddies and such here, I'm also talking about things like animations. A lot of the win poses look fucking boring, Kasumi's sword swipe is the laziest thing I've seen etc.
- Unlocking costumes by getting random costume fragments is fucking shitty and gay, just do it the old way instead, or with some type of fight money setup where you buy them with fake currency you get by playing the game.

Actually good Xtreme game. The problem with them so far is that they are fucking crappy games, with sexy girls being their only merit. 360 one came closest to breaking out of this, being sort of serviceable vacation simulation, but then they bounced right back to crappiness with 3. What they have to do is make fun game that people are gonna play even with the sexy chicks. The problem isn't that there's too much microtransactions in DOA6, the problem is that there's too little stuff in it WITHOUT them. DOA5LR had like 800 dollars in costume DLC and it was mostly fine, because the base game already had like 250 costumes built in that you could unlock, so you didn't feel too ripped off by just having the base version. The main problem with DOA5LR's DLC was that there was so many different packs for it that it was actually hard to keep track of what overlapped with what.

DOA6 in turn gives you almost nothing to work with unless you start buying the hundred dollar season passes, and that feels like you're being swindled.

If DOA is to survive it needs several things. The first is the return of Tomonobu Itagaki or for KT to accept the series needs a new Tomonobu Itagaki-like person in charge. KT may hate that, but it's what made DOA work.

There is no changing the hate boner the world has for DOA existing. There is no sense in bending the knee to any whiny group over what they view of the game. Accept its roots as something of a fun fighter which leans on the silly towards anime/manga to a degree. Accept people want hot girls and guys hitting each other all day.

Final version of DOA5 (Last Round) has Akira and Jacky from VF, plus Leon, Gen Fu, Ein, and Raidou added. Only Akira was in vanilla DOA5 among those. It's part of the reason why I won't touch DOA6 until we get the definitive version on next gen hardware, with all the bonus characters you have to buy as dlc now packaged in from the start, plus mechanical fixes, etc.

Can't you just push the shoulder buttons and have that unlock the costumes, otherwise tag on survival easiest difficulty.

Also well, PC LR is based on xbox 360 LR so a bunch of costumes from the PS4/X1 versions are straight up incompatible with it.

6 really seems like the prime example of how to not market your video game. Devs were giving answers that directly conflicted with answers they had given in previous interviews, constantly having to issue corrections and saying that things were minstranslated. Seemed like they gave the answers that the outlet they were talking to wanted to hear rather than the truth and it made it much more confusing for everyone. It was just constant damage control for fires that they started by trying to appease people.

What a mess of a campaign that was. It got off on the wrong foot with that big reveal event only being watched by like 20k people and then went downhill from there.

Problem is DOA is failing even with their best thing (the pretty anime ladies). They're all beginning to look the same. Soulcaliber 6 has more interesting female fighter designs, and that series does not even lean as hard on the fanservice as DoA does.

DoA should come up with more interesting character designs other than busty girl with clear skin. It's getting boring.
