I play at 1440p 144Hz on PC and I don't mind the Switch at all in handheld mode. Even BOTW looked and played fine IMO despite being 30FPS. I'm not sure if it's because you get used to it or it's just harder to notice on a smaller screen.

It doesn't solve any problem. Here's a picture of XBC2 in handheld mode. The resolution scales down even further than TV mode, the framerate is even more unstable than TV mode and even if the framerate wouldn't shit itself it would still be locked to 30 fps. Congratulations, you suggested I should play it on an tinier screen to have it look uglier and run worse.

As someone who recently got a Switch most games run like shit.
I can't believe how badly FE3H runs considering it legitimately looks like a PS2 game at times.
PS4 isn't much better, used that for a bit and it's insane that Gravity Rush 2 runs at an unstable 30 FPS considering the visuals.

You clearly have some high rig tower for your PC games. So it makes more sense to use the Switch exclusively in handheld mode for indie games that wouldn't need all that shit.

You buy a PS4 pro and pray the developers added a higher framerate option (they rarely do) and you keep your switch docked and hop it doesn't run like shit. Consoles have very little customization to speak of when it comes to framerate or graphics settings. A few games do have PC style options menus but those are rare.

Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart, Super Mario Maker, a lot of indie games, some ports like Skyrim, Splatoon 2 is 60FPS/720p in combat areas, Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors can get into the 50s but drops down to the 30s a lot. etc.

I'm not defending the Switch, I mainly play on PC. I am just saying there are playable games on the Switch if you are hypersensitive to framerates, but there's basically none on the PS4.
Every game I listed is basically the reason to own a Switch. The only one that isn't on there is Breath of the Wild, which you can just play on PC at high FPS. So, basically every major Switch game is playable in 60FPS.

The PS4 Pro doesn't output 1440p, even if that's the internal resolution. It also isn't that good for being 1440p since the hardware is mediocre even for 1080, so you only see it with games that aren't particularly impressive.
