I know I know. Repost, but I wanna get some more insight. I don't know if I should give them a chance still.

Am I the asshole it I told my static I wanna clear tonight and I'll go to a pug if I have to for this week? We've been stuck on e1s for two weeks and it's pissing me off. It doesn't help most of the party seems to be getting frustrated as well.

In their defense, it was only really two days of raiding out of those two weeks. First week, first day we got to spinning orbs. Second day, idk what happened but we weren't able to even reach back to that point so they dipped early and said they were going to gear up their 7th member. Second week, the seventh DPS hasn't been geared so they dipped early after the extra 7th and 8th member kept fucking up mechanics. Today, they have their 7th member, but I'm not optimistic about the clear.

It's a casual static. 3 days a week. They're getting a bit antsy for the past few runs though. I can tell they want to clear but the SCH or the random members keep fucking up. SCH was the one who roped us into doing savage though so I feel bad for him because he knows he's fucking everything up.

Friend keeps telling me that using the last potion at the last 30 seconds of fight is better for dps because you end the fight pretty much as the potion ends, therefore your dps is still somewhat spiked by it and there was no time for dps to fall off after the potion effect ends. Is that really how it works? Or is it better to just use it when it aligns with cooldowns even if the fight is still 2 minutes from ending?

Is there basically zero margin for error in e2s?
The closest I've ever been is 7% at enrage with zero deaths and a handful of people getting damage down at the end.

It's not a very difficult fight mechanically, but avoiding the damage debuff can be finicky because of all of our latancy issues. Is having one or two so detrimental to the dps check that you cannot beat the enrage without playing nearly perfectly?

Well if, let's say, your last day with your static is today, then from tomorrow/after the raid you can PUG until the week is over and they shouldn't give a fuck as you don't mess up their loot or anything like that.
If they do get angry they're entitled and think of you like you're their property and they should fuck off.
Also, 2 days is less than the average raid group. Find one that raids at least 3 days at week. Or one that actually plays and doesn't say shit like "we need to farm gear for our members" for fucking E1S.
If one people is bringing down the entire party AND this party wants to clear stuff and not wipe for entire nights/days on the same stupid boring fight then you need to tell him to get better, and if he doesn't to remove him from the party. And if he gets angry after that he's a fucking faggot and deserves to be alone without party forever.

On my first clear we had quite a few damage downs. So there is margin for error. These days though there's usually a titan geared BLM or something to carry pugs so long as they don't fuck up too bad.

Depends on your group's gear and skill.
MAYBE don't get a damage down every single time and don't get too many deaths, but it's very doable, but as I said depends on how much gear the players have.
This week with my static we had a few deaths and some damage down and we saw the 2°/3° Quietus of the final enrage, and keep in mind that we have cleared E4S week 1 so we're stuffed with gear (maybe we just suck). E2S dps check is not that high but not even that low.

We raid 3 days. Two days only in the first week because they said they were going to gear up their 7th DPS by next week. It's more their other members are straight outta Shadowbringers. Our SAM finished a day before we formed.

It doesn't happen all the time but it's definitely more constant than the others. I'll always see him tunnel visioning and forget Delta Attack. On the bright side, he's not killing me like the other healers I've did the fight with progging in the 2nd week.

I'm used to the old days of WoW where raiding was 4 hours a night 6 nights a week, that just sounds alien to me. But to answer your question yes and no, your best bet is to find another group that takes raiding more seriously and raids more often. In a MMO always strive to play with people at or above your skill level or you will never enjoy yourself.

There were a few small ones open earlier on my server, which is congested. Two in the Goblet, one in Shirogane. Goblet houses were taking 12+ hours, from what I saw (was in and out in the game today, but each time I looked, the same houses were for sale). The Shirogane one got some people upset in shout chat because an FC with a house already in Shirogane relocated there (they moved from a small plot to another small plot, so I got to wonder if they were doing it for a laugh). That seems to be how it tends to go: Plots either take 12+ hours or someone else relocates and starts the timer all over again. What macro do you got set up?

Your friend is a brainlet. Find out how many potions you can fit into the fight at maximum, then move them around to optimum buff windows. It's better to use potions at inopportune times if it ensures you use as many as possible. Go look up the best parses of your job on fflogs and peek at their potion use times if you're feeling lazy.

This is how you do it
>Check aetheryte in town/towns you want a house in (ideally all of them because you can't be picky)
>If one is up head there and stand at the placard
>Resign yourself to the fact that it could take 5 minutes or 22 hours from the point you arrived at the placard
>Proceed to spam click buy on the sign until your mouse breaks, your hand gives up, or the house sells

In the off hours of the day you can scare people away from the sign by having 3-4 of your FC mates stand there with you, people see a crowd and say no thanks. In the busy hours you could have upwards of a dozen people competing for it. It took my group 5 attempts to buy one, each attempt being between 7 and 18 hours of camping a sign.

Also keep in mind that you're also fighting against 3-5 players that are using external programs that automatically spam target the placard every couple seconds, so if you don't have superhuman reflexes chances are you're not getting it over them.

My conversation with him was about the last potion in particular. So in this scenario it's not affecting the max number of potions you'll get to use. We're just talking about when to use the last one.

Basically his argument is that if you align with cd's but it's 2 min before the kill, there's plenty of time for your dps to fall off after that burst spike until the boss dies. If you use it like 35 seconds before the kill, even if it doesn't align with anything, the boss will die before your dps falls off from the potion. I'm not smart enough to prove him wrong though I still have a feeling it's better to align anyway.

The house buying system is straight up torture, it fits somewhere between waterboarding and thumbscrews. The system needs a complete overhaul but so far it seems SE are content to ignore it and let people suffer.

As said the only people who benefit are those who have houses and can transfer whenever they want. If you were someone who was playing when houses were first introduced you basically got a free house with no hassle and everyone who started playing after that gets told fuck you.

On titan you get 3 potion uses if you're killing near enrage.
If you use them at 0:00, 6:00, 12:00 they align with your 2m and 3m raid buffs, which are all mostly multiplicative damage. This makes the potion more valuable.
If you use them at... 0:00, 6:00, 12:50 then the last one just doesn't align with anything and contributes less. Your dps measure during the ten seconds are absolutely meaningless in every context. FFLogs shows the whole fight. The boss dying or not depends on the whole

Honestly your best bet for getting a house is whenever new wards/new housing zones open up. You have maybe seconds before everything is sold, but it gives you a fighting chance against everyone else.

Look out for the Ishgard housing to release, plan out your route and pray to god that you get into the servers before most people.
That's how I got my large in shirogane. I beat 4 people to the placard by maybe a second at most.

Tt's a simple math problem. Would you rather put a x1.1 multiplier on a phase where you do 11k dps, or would you rather multiply 12k dps? If you buff up that 12k dps, you'll do more damage overall. The entire fight is an enrage timer, you have to be an absolute smoothbrain to think it starts at the enrage cast.

In an unironic "it gets good x hours in" way, yes.

I already argued that. There's no denying that if you align with buffs you're squeezing more value out of the potion, but that was before the conversation evolved into dps spike falling off with time.

Basically the argument now is: buffing more damage by aligning but some of that spike in dps will fall off with time or smaller spike right at the end (because no aligns) so you don't allow that dps spike to fall off because the fight ends right there and your log looks better.

Ah ok, I was wondering if there was a specific time of the day I should bother checking the crystals to see when houses were going up for auction.

For group mobs just use the aoe move twice to get agro on everyone, it's for the most part safe to pull at least 2 groups of mobs, or more depending on the dungeon. And use defensive cooldowns.
It's really easy.

Just remember to pop your cooldowns and to tell people your new to it. Most will be understanding. Any asshole who isn't for whatever reason can deal with it.

Here's a visual guide for the mentally impaired you can use. Your friend doesn't realize he goes into that last 30 second spike at a lower baseline. The potion spike means dogshit when it spikes you to a lower point than if you had just used it earlier, got a bigger boost, and dwindled in a higher baseline.

What is this recent plague of healers just not healing? It wasn't nearly this bad in Stormblood. I'll be MTing sometimes and my health will get dangerously low or I'll just outright die because the healers just won't do their jobs. It's so bizarre.

How do you acquire them or how do you use them? You need a house first and then you have to build one piece by piece, it takes a while.

I would recommend not overpulling too much, especially at lower levels when you lack some mitigation and your gear lvl overall sucks balls. Check your party to see if they're new as well and you can gauge how much they can keep up. Don't pull like 15 mobs when it's the healers first job and they're at dungeon level unless you want to wipe. Aoe to drag aggro. I think it's overall increase in dps to spam aoe moves when there is 3 or greater mobs but not sure.

I have a medium personal house.

I don't think any of those things are related but:
- They are basically giant expensive retainers
- You craft 4 parts to make one
- You then send them out on missions and they come back a day or so later with stuff from that sector
- You unlock blueprints for different parts with some of the materials from the sectors
- You mix and match parts to get stats tailored for what you're trying to do
- As you send them out you have a chance to unlock specific sectors from specific sectors visited
- The parts are free company crafts which require 4 people to be in the room to complete (you'll have effectively to build the ship yourself because nobody will ever help you with it ever though)
- They have nothing to do with personal homes and are only accessed through FC workshops

5. Start the craft, put all the shit in, get walls out

Is botany or fishing less fucked than mining? Everything I can mine gets the price gouged by half in a day and nothing but aethersands are worth >1000 gil per item.

Botany is the exact same thing as mining but with different mats.
Fishing is a somehow worse minigame because of how infrequent getting HQ stuff is in comparison but none of the mats are actually used for any crafting so they're unsellable.

The tank was a garbage person for dropping tank stance and forcing people to die but the DPS were also shitty people for pulling ahead of the tank. I wouldn't want to do a dungeon with any of them.

If you want the tank to pull more then use your words and say so in a polite manner in group chat, if you pull by accident again try using your words to say "AWW SHIT OOPS MY BAD LOL" in party chat.

It is almost always literally more efficient for dps to pull for the tank. It gets the pack to the tank faster so it dies faster and saves the tank hp if the dps actually eats an attack. No, it's not efficient in any way for a DPS to pull. At no point in a dungeon should a DPS be leaving the pack of mobs to run ahead to find more to pull back, either the tank is pulling wall to wall or they are stopping at each pack 1 by 1, in which case the next pack is pretty far away. It's also a lot easier if you let the tank pull so he can position things at the start to grab threat more easily, AOE taunt is gone so you're working with long GCDs and need to aim your AOEs properly.

You're a DPS, just hit buttons and dont stand in AOEs that's all you have to do.

She might not be an aether ghost, she might be living inside someone else's body like the Ascians do. But either way, it can be assumed that souls exerting energy still require rest. The lorebook discusses how people need to eat food and drink water because it absorbs the aether in those things to restore aether lost during activity. The game also often talks about how using magic (the body's spare aether reserves) tires one out and you need rest or ethers to restore energy. So a soul exerting itself should also expend aether and need time to replenish itself. Although in every instance on the Source, using up the aether of your soul permanently decreases your lifespan.
