It's pretty crazy how what is essentially the same game can go from a 9/10 classic to a 4/10 disappointment just by having worse atmosphere, aesthetic and visceral impact. I have to admit to myself they don't even play THAT differently (in the base game, before it turns into a Korean MMO at rifts), but Diablo 3 just looks and feels fucking lame while Diablo 1/2 are fucking sick.
