Their store, while lacking in features, is serviceable enough that you can just play the games you want to. Epic explicitly has an anti-consumer business philosophy. You know that one dev whose game went epic exclusive recently and after people complained he sperged out recently about how stupid consumers should just shut up and be obedient little paypigs for devs? That's how Epic feels in general. They excluded user reviews from the Epic Store on purpose because they don't want us to have any leverage against them. Their "curation" is less about keeping trash off the store (which really isn't a big deal on steam anyway unless you're an autist who feels compelled to look at every single new game that ever gets released) and more about gatekeeping to keep anyone who isn't a part of the approved devs club out. If the Epic store had been industry leaders you'd better believe games like Kingdom Come Deliverance would have been excluded or a game like Mordhau would be pressured into enforcing social-justice friendly terms of service.

They want to make the PC market top-down controlled by themselves and this is possibly the worst thing that could ever happen to PC gaming. Steam, as asleep at the wheel as Valve can be, at least seems to have somewhat libertarian principles about the whole thing

Checking the roadmap, it actually seems like they implemented the features they said they would right on time. They recently added Offline Mode, Cloud Saves, Bundles, Pre-Loading, Regional Pricing, Free Game Notifications, and Genre and Tag Searching. At least with Cloud Saves, it functions as more than DRM.
