Is there anything actually wrong with EGS beyond its methods of acquiring exclusivity being dubious at best? Their store, while lacking in features, is serviceable enough that you can just play the games you want to. I don't really see the difference in this and what services like Origin or UPlay have done.

Honestly if Tetris Effect was released on Steam then EGS would be completely pointless to me

that's pretty much the entire reason
a lot of people will say it's because chinks or spyware or a shoddy storefront but the buying out of already finished games and the rabid ironic defense force it has are what people really hate about it

It's DRM. That's why you should hate it. All the other arguments are spammed by bored Valve employees. Surely nobody would defend Steam for free, right?
