How come this isn't being given a real release date and is just being held as "mid-august"? It'd be nice if I could pre-order the damn thing so I know I'm guaranteed one.

It's already out now, dude. At least in the U.S and Australia.

Really? I've only seen reports about Hong Kong and Australia.

Because it's officially not a new product and instead just replacing the older version. Instead of ordering it separately it's just what stores will receive once they run out of old switches.

It's out in the U.S. Plenty of people on Reddit are confirming they bought one or received a shipment at the store they work at. Target and GameStop seem to be the best bet to nab one right now.

I'm pretty salty I just got a switch 4 months ago.

Thanks bro I'll check them out to see if they have any, I'd call and ask but I'm sure the employees will not know a damn thing I'm talking about and try to sell me the old one.

When known there was revisions coming since October last year, you're a retard for not waiting a bit longer

how much longer is the battery life than the base model? i only really play it docked, but sometimes i have it in my bedroom for late night dragon quest builders 2

Apparently they fixed joy-con drift. I doubt this is concrete proof as it's probably just placebo but still. Just maybe.

Almost double the battery life.

The new one has a red box. The original has a white box. Just ask if the front of the box is red or white. There.

You're not missing anything if you don't play portable.

>less than 50% is almost double

eh, that just seems like a convenience and not a driving force to upgrade. nice to know if my unit dies

has anyone been able to hack this version yet?

Pretty cool they were able to double the battery. Mostly play docked so not really something I care for.

are the internals different?
can i put the better battery in an old model?

stfu retard

It's a chip revision they used to make the Switch Lite and as a result they have internals that use less power.

buying lite for handheld so idgaf

Still waiting on that pro. Any day now....

This. I do plan to buy this whenever it inevitably(probably?) happens. Until then, I am happy.

Just get a new battery, Nintendo will probably sell them on their online storefront at some point

I'm waiting until either Pro or Bayo3/Prime4/SMTV come out before buying Switch.

Not gonna happen

Why does anyone even think they'll make one in the first place? Because there's a PS4 Pro?

The battery is the same, it's the cpu and shit that's more efficient and cooler which means less power used that leads to the battery lasting longer.

It's not a new battery. The new Switch has a more power efficient 16nm processor.

>That vid
I don't care about any of those except the joycon drift. Battery life is a non-issue when you have pic related. That fag stays games run better on it SLIGHTLY (like doom), but I doubt it.

Since Switch is the new Handheld it only makes sense for the "New" Switch, or XL.
That makes sense. I want Bayo 3 already.
I travel a lot, but battery life isn't a issue for me since I have the battery pack.

So can you or not?

fucking christ dude you can't even hack new switches that you buy now with the old chipset what do you think

I'll have to demo it to decide. Screen is only .5" bigger than vita and people are already complaining about text/ui in some games like FE even on the standard sized switch

>Since Switch is the new Handheld it only makes sense for the "New" Switch, or XL.
But the New 3DS was barely an upgrade and next to nothing ran better or looked better, and the XL was just a cosmetic update, nothing about the hardware was different.

Nintendo isn't going to trot out a significantly more powerful Switch because it would split the userbase and force devs to develop and optimize multiple builds of every game. Instead of being able to develop and sell to every user, they're going to have to either spend more time and money developing multiple builds, ignore the new model which defeats the purpose of it having better hardware or ignore 90% of Switch owners to just develop for the higher-spec model.

If they do make a more powerful one I wouldn't expect it any time soon, shit I'd expect them to just make a new platform before doing that. Its not going to do anything beneficial for them financially to split their userbase and make developing games more time consuming and expensive. Switch has good third-party support, no reason to make supporting it less attractive when most of those devs probably have their Switch ports at the bottom of their priority list as-is. After PS4/Xbone2 launch, developers will potentially have to develop NINE different builds of every game, assuming lots will be cross-gen wit Ps4/Xbone initially. PS4/PS4Pro/PS5/Xbone/XboneX/Xbone2/Switch/SwitchPro/PC, that's a lot.

PPI is higher though, should look better and be more readable than it is on the current model

I have no problem seeing anything on my old-ass 720p iPhone 4S, for example

I feel you. I'm coping by thinking how I did get mine on sale for $60 cheaper and won't even be taking my switch out in public anyways.

based launch chads win again

the new 3ds made the 3d actually really good though since it'd track and compensate for your positioning (some seriously fucking cool tech there) and keeping the 3d on the lowest tick in monster hunter with the better performance was 100% a massive improvement. crisp sharp graphics and better performance, what's not to love?

of course I realize it barely worked for any games in terms of performance improvement but since monhun is a system seller all by itsself it's worth pointing out

also i agree that a more powerful switch wont be coming any time soon, it'd be a huge mess since a lot of people would be annoyed that their system is now basically obsolete and make developing a shitshow.

is the switch worth getting right now?

It's simply the times, user. Mid-gen upgrades are now a thing. Switch is too weak already and needs more power to keep up. Not to mention since they made the Lite they're just HAMMERING the fact the switch IS the new handheld until whatever next console they come out with. Which they are already working on.

Literally confirms nothing

Depends, if you plan to use it in handheld mode a lot then yeah, though if not, if a switch to you wasn't worth getting before I suppose this won't change that. Really depends what you may want a switch for.

Yeah but point being it didn't have significantly better hardware that resulted in games looking and performing better, also requiring devs develop for multiple 3DS models. There were like 2 N3DS exclusive games and SNES games on the eshop. Just doesn't seem worth it to confuse some potential customers, anger existing owners and make development more expensive and time-consuming, all to please a tiny, tiny fraction of potential customers who want a $400+ Switch.

Says who? Its happened literally once, and XboneX flopped super fucking hard and sold at a loss.

they should just release a switch with the 3d screen tech and target the exact same performance and graphics just with better hardware :^)

Convince me not to get a lite on September 20th
Pro tip: you cant.

Attached: westboro.jpg (3493x2847, 1.23M)

>put the exact same graphics from a ps4 game on a switch game
>WTF WHY ISN'T IT RUNNING GOOD!?
the devs just didn't give a shit about performance

The Switch "pro" will be the opposite of the Lite and be tv mode only and come with a pro controller. This way they'll have three models at different price points that satisfy all crowds. The Lite specializes as a handeheld, the "pro" a console, and the orginal as a jack of all trades. Because things like battery life won't be an issue, the "pro" will probably be at least a little more powerful but not massively. I don't think they'd make the gap between models huge.

i would mostly use it in handheld and i really wanna play astrial chain since platinum games has made one of my favorite games (nier automata) and fire emblem looks fun

Then yes, it would be worth getting since you have better options now, the switch lite which is cheaper and has the controls built in, or the new original model with the better battery life.

Literally this. Users get the short end of the stick and end up complaining. Even devs say it as well. It also doesn't help that every switch fag WANTS everything on switch and begins to BEG.

So what does an early release (aka hackable) Switch go for? I'm considering selling mine and getting either this new model or the lite.

tbf though dqb1 was on switch and ran a lot better. they just did a very lazy port for what was the most attractive version, they didn't really tone down any effects or assets, or even implement any sort of dynamic resolution options which is totally effortless.

Just carry a battery pack.

How much can I sell my launch Switch for? I heard they were sought after because they're easily hackable. Could I sell it for enough to mostly fund my purchase of the revised model?

Why should anyone care how you spend your own money? Even if you wanted to buy 200 dollars worth of adult diapers instead of the Lite, it doesn't concern me.

It's not just being easily hackable, it's being hackable at all for the moment. Sure, they'll figure out another way to hack the Switch in the end, but right now if you want to play pirated games on your Switch, you need an early model.
