There are no good outcomes to that quest. You might argue that the Diamondbacks are the least disruptive, but it's still shitty. If anything, the disorganized raiders that fill up the canyon after the nuke is disarmed would be easier for the rangers to clear out at some post-game point than either the Militia or the radioactive fallout.
