Any must have mods?

daggerfall is terrible

Have a look on the Workshop, but I'd say the quest pack at least is a good start. I really like the Dream mod pack and the handpainted models but they're not to everyone's taste. There are also some environment mods that add grass, skyboxes and more topography which are pretty great.

All we really need now is essential bugfixes and 3D NPC models. I hate that 2.5D sprite shit.

B8

>become a lycanthrope
>eventually health gets reduced to 4
>ok lets go kill some innocents in somewhere that isn't daggerfall for convenience
>literally no wandering civilians will spawn in any town for some reason
>have to trigger guard spawns and try to kill them without getting one shot
>finally get the letter from the guy offering to cure me
>the letter directs me to a town that literally does not exist
that's enough daggerfall for now

Attached: 1563941919463.jpg (852x480, 74K)

not bait. the gameplay, world, maze dungeons, quests, all suck. the only good thing about this game is the climbing and the atmosphere.

>he Critical Strike (or Critical Striking) skill gives a skill % chance to add skill / 10% to hit chance. Contrary to the descriptions found in-game and in the game manual, Critical Strike does not increase damage inflicted upon a target.
>from uesp
Does that mean that crit is practically useless if you max agility?

So what's the deal with lycanthropy? You just lose max health unless you routinely nom on some civvies?

>edition
Not a general, nigger.

>nofun.png

yep, one fella every 15 days

>choppy 3fps and graphical glitches
uh. no thanks? lmao

>getting moved by jannies to vg is fun
cant wait for you fags to get btfo

just because your computer is from 1996 doesnt mean it can run daggerfall unity

>voodoo2 is bad
ok faggot. zoom zoom

run original daggerfall instead

Alpha's only been out for two days, traffic in these threads won't be consistent enough to warrant moving to vg.

I'm not sure if it's that simple. Looking at the github the chance to hit formula is something like
>chanceToHit = chanceToHitModifier + (attacker luck - defender luck)/10 + (attacker agi - defender agi)/10 - defender dodge/4 + 40 - 50
>+ critstrike/10 if crit strike skill check succeeds
>clamped between 3 and 97
I'm not sure how exactly weapon skill plays into it but seems like it would be pretty hard to hit 97% which would be max chance to hit. Then again crit strikes seems like a pretty bad skill either way since it gives fuckall hit chance. Also seems like Daggerfall skill rolls are always d100 and you gotta roll under your skill level so at Critical Strikes 100 you'd always get +10 to hit since you always crit.

I'm running it on a Macbook at max settings with loads of graphics mods and I'm getting 60fps. Basically you fucked up.

GOTY 2019

it's only alpha fuck off when it's actually done nigger

What do I need to get this up and running?

Based retard

Literacy.

You need to stop being an illiterate nigger

Why wouldn't you do that? Seems like low maintenance.

I recommend making the install path for Daggerfall like
>/Daggerfall Unity/Daggerfall
so its neatly inside the folder where you put Daggerfall Unity.

I just want to help people play the game. Some people aren't good with computers.

Cool, thanks man.

Have you considered stealth archer?

Have you considered brainlet nord?

linguist

you should be forced to merge with /tesg/
it would be hilarious, you would flood their shitty waifu thread with this, they would hate it, you would hate it, everyone would suffer. Thats what makes me happy.

spellsword

What stats to focus as a Battlemage

So, speed>agi>str>end for melee, right?

Attached: 1371810164555.gif (400x220, 2.41M)

Surely agility > speed?

But UESP and leddit says that agility gives only minimal gains, similar to luck.

I hate this meme, I've never played a stealth archer in any TES-game, is it all just that one fucking pic?

how much nudity is in daggerfall?
higher res of OPs picture?
any male nudity?
any demons/deadra?

Battle and mage

No, it was the natural playstyle for me in both Oblivion and Skyrim.

it's pixelated boobies. if you want to jerk off I suggest pornhub.

Nah, that's boring.

>any male nudity?
Todd's no fag.

oh boy if you think all the porn on the internet is boring, wait til you see the game.

>A fair bit, it was the 90’s
>If I find some NPCs
>If you undress as a male
>Nymphs, some of the female Daedric princes

i can't change my strength or endurance on pornhub

yeah but i am
why isnt todd catering to my tastes decades ago

Stealth-Archer in Skyrim is stupidly easymodo oneshot and requires 0 effort and thus is a go-to mode of play for a shitton of low-iq retard normals.

you're good people, daggerfallanons

>i can't change my strength or endurance on pornhub
Send them an email complaining about it. I'll bet you anything they'll fix that.

>Make character
>Get through first dungeon pretty easy
>Get to Daggerfall
>Already bored of game
>Alt-F4
At least is was free, don't know why people are trying to act like it's so great. If you like it that's fine but I don't really see what there is to like.

Citizens wont come out when there is an angry werewolf (you) in town
Also you dont need to kill “innocents” even a dungeon rat will do I think
And humanoid enemies definitely count

How viable is a sort of magic knight character, like can you have healing and shield spells while focusing mostly on weapons for damage

Perfectly viable, downright pedestrian.

Play a Bard
Basically a linguist-lite with some weapon and magic skills

Can I survive through the game with longblade, or do I need somesort of backupweapon/destruction?

Ok Todd

>pickpocket as primary
>pickpocket as a skill at all
>3 weapon styles+destruction
>lockpicking
>streetwise + etiq
>no plate
Whoa, is this the weakest premade class in the game?

Attached: 1519923131294.jpg (600x800, 47K)

I mean a Bard custom lol
Not pre-made

Honestly guys this game isn't very good, we should just play Skyrim

Attached: HoddToward.jpg (227x222, 6K)

its one of those "imagination games" where the fun you have isn't really because of the game it's because you use the game to play pretend.

How though? The game is 95% randomly generated shit. There's so many other games that would be better to RP in other than this. Again, I don't care if people like it but I truly don't see the appeal at all. Seems like nostalgia and rose-tinted goggles mostly to me.

I have zero nostalgia for DF since I first played it this year (non Unity-version, part of a general TES-playthrough). It's honestly pretty bad, but it has a certain atmosphere and sense of wonder/adventure, beats me why. I can see myself enjoying DF if it was bugfree and easier to control, like DF unity

What's the difference between low tolerance and critical focus?

>using the premade classes

Long blade is the outright best weapon type in the game for both one-handed and two-handed options so you'll be just fine. There are still useful backups that can do things it can't though, like bows or destruction for ranged damage and hand-to-hand for when your weapons break. (protip: bring at least two good weapons to every dungeon)
Other melee weapons are all strictly worse versions of long blades, you can pick them for role-playing but you won't have much use for them vs. an equivalent quality long blade. There is the fact that blunt weapons do extra damage against skeletons but skeletons won't be a threat past level 5 anyway.

>No, I make the game harder on purpose!
Moron

Hello?

You know what must be done.

Attached: 1561661480731.png (1600x1200, 57K)

So does longblade encompass all long/board swords as well as all two-handed swords?

>used autohotkey script
>leveled 30-90 destruction in a hour while doing housework
Best 332 gold i ever spent

I've been trying to build my character, I took the unarmed fro secondary. No idea what to do with minor skills(or what to do at all), I just took bunch of magic for easy access to useful spells. I'm going to be melee pirmarly.

Attached: daggerfallclasslasf.jpg (1642x1622, 870K)

Yeah, here's all the weapon coverage:
en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Weapons

Katanas are the best one-handed weapons and Daikatanas are the best two-handed weapons.

>music isn't even properly looping

So i rescued some princess from Edwistar Asylum and now i have no idea where the fuck i need to drop her off. what do i do with her

Attached: DaggerfallUnity_2019-08-01_12-03-12.png (1273x327, 164K)

bring her back to the knight order who gave you the quest

Is there a way to access the Daggerfall Unity options without restarting my game?

That looks good overall. Yeah Daggerfall gives you more skill slots than you need to define a build and half of them (your lowest major and five lowest minors) don't even contribute to level ups so fill them with whatever sounds fun. If you like something else you can always level it up instead, as in all post-Arena games your class is mostly a suggestion.

Low tolerance to magic might make things hard but the spell absorption can offset it. I assume that was your reasoning with that loadout. However spell absorption only works if you have used up some of your magicka; when a spell is absorbed it restores your magicka by the cost of the spell, but if it can't restore that much it won't absorb it at all. So if you are going to stick to pure melee you won't see any benefit from it. Personally I would just get rid of both low tolerance and spell absorption. On the plus side the dagger will go down a bit too since the advantage costs more than the disadvantage gives.

did that and talked to everyone in there and nothing happens. only option i have is to get another quest

this

Return to the quest giver?

You drop her off at the guy who gave you the quest. So the Knights of the Dragon in Daggerfall (city presumably).

You sure it's the exact same quest giver in the exact same branch? The branches are all copy-pastes of each other but only the specific one you went to will work to return her.
Did you try pressing the "Get Quest" or "Talk" button? If I remember right you sometimes have to do that to turn it in. If it's really the same questgiver he won't offer you another quest while you're already on one for him.

END>SPD>STR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>AGI
END is the only time-sensitive stat in Daggerfall as it doesn't retroactively add hit points.

Aight then, if then spell absorb works like that, I'll just nuke them. Yeah, it gives me loads of daggerroom.
Maybe resistance to disease and magic or accuracy against humanoids.

t. mentally ill
join 70% whitetoid

welp nevermind after accepting another quest and finishing it it allowed me to hand in both quests

But a cool guide on internet said END is shit and I should dump it to 10!

Is there any penalty for failing quests? I picked up two time-limited quests involving killing lots of giant scorpions and that ain't gonna happen.

They must have forgot a zero, most tell you to get END 100 by level 2, which is extremely feasible btw. But yeah it's just hit points and stamina, 2bh speed is better, just there's no rush for it, or any other stat.

You lose rep with their entire faction, I'm not sure if not accepting a quest also gives this penalty. I've just been save scumming to get quests I can complete, most of the in-dungeon quests are really random afterall.

If I take immunity to magic, can I still heal/buff myself? I'm going to be a McBreton.

Benis

Seconding this.
Planning on making a completely magically retarded character i.e. immune to magic but completely incapable of casting magic

Attached: 1418256178539.jpg (617x692, 73K)

Put a few hours into my third build which was good enough to get out the starter dungeon, but considering rerolling with immunity to paralysis as currently scorpions effectively OHKO me. Or should I just run away and wait til I'm good enough to OHKO them? I've heard spiders pull the same bullshit.

TIDDIES???

High Elves have it as standard if that makes it easier (and you don't mind playing one)

seriously why is it so hard to find the quest objectives in dungeons? I've had to give up two quests now because I were running around in circles for hours trying to find where I hadn't been in the dungeon

one thing I'd like to see added with mods are cut factions from the original
like the Order of the Lamp (a knightly order tied to the mages guild for battle-mage types rather than normal knights)

>"We of the Order of the Lamp are the protectors of the Mages Guild. We follow the Palantinus, under direct orders from the Archmagister. We are given appropriate rights to certain services at the Mages Guild. One's rank within the Order approximates ones rank within the Guild, in terms of rights and priveleges [sic]. The Order is only open to those who have already demonstrated fighting skills and are in good standing with the Mages Guild."

Attached: 1375042302590.jpg (1018x1400, 521K)

Theyre probably in secret rooms.

Just get a Free Action magic item and you’re fine, enemies that paralyze don’t do much damage anyway

anyone got a clue what this lever does?

Attached: skullever.png (1442x932, 682K)

You can just craft a remove paralysis spell.

It make funny noises...

it dougs and sometimes fasters

Can you cast spells while paralyzed?

So this is where it ends, my library grave. RIP agent, he never got out of the starter dungeon.

yes

See that bookcase? You can climb it. Dont forget to crouch and slide

you're lucky the game warns you at all

at a Pawnbroker

Should be a bauble shop or jeweler I think try Chesterwork

>requires 0 effort and thus is a go-to mode of play for a shitton of low-iq retard normals.
This is Skyrim in general so you're not making a convincing case.

That is utter madness

Honestly fuckhuge dungeons would be great were it not for the fact that you absolutely need to explore every single nook and cranny of them to find your objectives.

I've got the plague. The nearest holy place is a shrine and it doesn't heal me. Need to find a proper temple. Fugg.

Attached: dont believe i's lies.png (1169x768, 948K)

desu just use the console and teleport to the quest item when it gets to be a bit much

Chesterwerk has a Temple of Kynareth if you're still near the starting area. I caught a plague earlier from doing some grave digging and that's where I got healed.

>huge underwater area
I'll bet the kid is down there with a scuba tank.

>reload game
>enemy opens the door
really scared the shit out of me, I thought enemies were dumb

They have crazy good hearing which leads me to sneaking through entire dungeons because I don't want to get flooded by enemies.

They improved the ai, Ive also noticed some enemies will back away from you when you attack.

the Unity version has enhanced AI which pathfinds toward you and actively avoids your hits

>I thought enemies were dumb
They are in this case. The door opening is more like an aura than a behavior. Any door an enemy walks near is automatically opened.

For example, the guards in the three main castles are supposed to attack you if you open any door you're not supposed to. However because the guards are combat-capable they count as enemies, and therefore the ones stationed near the doors they're supposed to protect will cause them to open as soon as they're loaded, letting you walk in and out freely.

I play high elf and the scorps paralyze me, I don't play with critical immunity to paralysis either. High elf only protects against magic based paralysis, not poison based which scorps do.

Why can't I equip amulets? I remember doing this in vanilla.

Does immunity to magic still cover disease poison and paralize like old daggerfall?

>enter a town
>HALT HALT
>YOU ARE CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY
>what the fuck, not guilty
>YOU ARE GUILTY, AND YOU ARE NOW BANISHED FROM THIS TOWN
>"You feel somewhat bad"
>die instantly
>load game
>fall out of the map
>any other save throws me out of bounds
>crash
worse than vanilla

redguard detected

It's fixed, as is stats like dodging actually working this time instead of giving you a debuff

sounds like vanilla daggerfall to me

It was frankly the only way to play Oblivion and Skyrim, with thier shithouse melee combat. Worked well in Morrowind too. I doubt it'ld work well in Daggerfall, especially the Unity version. Melee is actually way better in this Unity port than in any actual Elder Scrolls game. For the first time I actually want to stab and not shoot arrows.

Character import is working nicely.

Attached: Clipboard04.png (1920x1080, 295K)

>try to escape the first dungeon
>get chased by a psycho imp
Just let this nightmare end

You can import Daggerfall vanilla characters??

How do you get the fucking ebony dagger at the start? I tried like 5 times remaking my class and every time it gave me the fucking question about WHAT DID YOUR MOTHER GIVE YOU? instead.

Kill it with a steel or higher quality weapon, lure it to another mob and let them fight it out, or use the starting lightning spell to kill it (If you have it)

Depends what major / minor stuff you pick. If I picked one more thief related skill it was giving me all the thief related options instead of mage / warrior ones.

Right, I forgot that steel does kill it, somehow I thought it was immune to it as well

I read that but every time it seemed like it gave me the mage one even though I had mostly combat/sneaking skills. It even seemed to ask mostly thief related questions but every time it would just go to the other question and not the dagger one.

i'm a dunmer, everyone i talk to seems to fucking hate me

Race doesn't matter for that, personality and reputation does, and if you're using polite or blunt tones then etiquette or streetwise apply too, respectively
also try all three tones if someone isn't talking to you, sometimes one of them will work. other times it will work just by closing the window and then talking to them again.

you can enchant items to enhance your reputation with specific groups when worn if it's a persistent problem

>join mage's guild

Where are the good missions?

I think you need Stealth as Primary/Major to get it.

hey so i just spent like 2-3 hours getting out of the starter dungeon and getting to a town. tried the daggerfall fast travel the tutorial says, but it alays gets me there at night time. i had one hp so i just ended up walking to the nearest town.

is it worth it to do that starter dungeon again with a custom class? i just picked Spellsword, but the magic feels half useless with no regenerating mana.

Attached: 1473093274697.png (442x341, 182K)

Idk, fighter's guild ones have all been to go to someone's house and kill shit. Unironically best quests sofar were from taverns. Got a quest to escort a lady and thieves guild members attacked us, also had a quest where someone's wife was kidnapped and there was random and stuff.
I don't have stealth. I have longsword destruction resto primary, and all other schools of magic except illusion a bit lower. Got some climbing and dodging etc as filler

Genuine question, not trying to be a dick, but how is this shit any different from skyrim?

I had stealth as a major, even tried putting short blade and it still wouldn't fucking give me it.

I dunno, never played skyrim

>tried the daggerfall fast travel the tutorial says, but it alays gets me there at night time
travel carefully

I think in the base game spellsword was broken since it wasnt assigned spellabsorb, so you are better off making a custom spellsword.

it isnt

I get quests to cast open and sleep spells. I think you need to level up to get new quest types.

idk maybe its random then. After a couple tries it seems like I get the question to pick it every time.

Someone made a mod where Doomguy is a class and we can use a shotgun to blow Daggerfall inhabitants apart with a shotgun. It can't be that hard to make.

>yo nigga, I need your help
>go, get this sapphire
>you have one day to travel to a location that takes 2 days to travel to
It's fine, I didn't want the reputation anyway...

The premade Spellsword class is one of the worst there is. It has like all the weapon skills when you should really only take one.

interesting
I play a full spellcaster and I got the option for the ebony dagger
and I've been remaking my character like 3 times, same options every time including the dagger

Primary: Dest, Rest, Alte
Major: Illus, Myst, Thaum
Minor: Dodg, Run, Medi, Merc, Short Bld and Etiquette

Guards are weenies who get oneshot and would be nothing if there weren't a million of them

That happened once to me. Now I have so much speed and endurance that I can beat any quest time ez

tried all the travel types, only got there at night time.

though for some reason camping out healed me.

damn that sounds important, that starter dungeon bashed my balls, will probably make a custom class next time i play, shoulda just made it the first time, i usually make custom classes in games. But wasn't sure it was gonna be fun

it was a fucking blast

Attached: 1563517207844.jpg (764x720, 201K)

You sure it's 2 days and not 2 hours? If it's in the same kingdom it shouldn't be more than a day

>AI actively dodges AND dodges through dice rolls
that's a no from me dawg

Attached: 1540472338912.jpg (400x400, 16K)

I think you can get it with anything. Tried two characters with entirely different skills and got the question on both of them.

the dungeon might actually be interestingly designed

Just uh level up

>encounter imp in starting dungeon
>weapon can't attack it so I run out and close the door
>bigbrain.jpg
>enemy OPENS THE FUCKING DOOR
>bolt out of there
>run into some skelentons
>they fucking scream at me
>run around dungeon looking for an exit but instead I only find more imps, skeletons and dead ends
Horror GOTY

>enemies level up with the player
that's a no from me dawg

>dungeon
>designed
not in daggerfall dawg

How do I find an npc if everyone is being a dipshit and doesn't want to tell me their location?

we get it
go do something else

I was saying the reverse

The main quest. That's it mostly.
There's a couple interesting ones that come from "merchant" type NPCs, like one where you're falsely accused of theft or your questgiver is some kind of monster and teleports you to a random dungeon that you have to escape from.

But for the most part Daggerfall's quests are really simple and just an excuse to get you traveling or crawling a dungeon, which is the real meat of the game.

At some point you will see patterns.

never played DF
tips for first char?

Would it be hard to play as a full on mage for my first ever playthrough?

It just says travel time 2 and the quest gets removed after fast travel, so I assumed it would take 2 days

Just keep talking to them, you'll get a successful dialogue roll eventually. You can keep talking to the same NPC over and over for that as long as you close the dialogue window each time.
If you fiddled with the reputation modifiers during character creation then go talk to the type of people you gave yourself good rep with. I hope you didn't give yourself bad rep with Commoners they are the only type of NPC that can mark buildings on your map. But if you did and e.g. gave yourself good rep with Merchants instead, then go to a shop and ask the directions from the shopkeeper. Unfortunately he can't mark your map but he can still tell you if it's north/east/etc. and you can figure it out from there.

Want to start a new Mage character
going for a sort of "evil mage" Warlock type
going to join the mages guild and the Dark Brotherhood
need to think of some custom spell ideas for RP
I only wish Summoning was a magical school in Daggerfall so I could summon lesser daedra/atronarchs

Language skills are the most important, magic is OP but go for light powered magery

...

Unironically language skills are good if you want to softcap your level.

Suck a dick you wannabe jannie

No general has ever been good. Ever.

Sadly no summoning until Morrowind (or until some mods) but you can get the Skull of Corruption artifact from Vaernima's daedric quest which is sort of like a summon. It allows you to clone any enemy to fight the original for you.

>make a custom class
>pick only one weapon skill
>you probably want a magicka int multiplier advantage if you're planning to do any magic

They made critical weakness work with immunity so that they counteract each other and you end up with a regular resistance to paralysis.

Man, a hand-to-hand build was just as fucking awesome as I'd imagine. I beat the shit out of everything in the starting dungeon, and the next three (Except those fucking zombies).
Too bad I can't find any trainers for h2h skill.

What am i supposed to do after finding the death certificate of the prince's brother?
I gave it to him, but the quest is still active and I cant find another main quest

Don't forget the Sanguine Rose which is basically a summon

Don't put an edition in the OP otherwise autists like will get it booted to /vg/. Just make a simple Daggerfall thread.

All jokes and memes aside, why does Daggerfall make people so angry? I get not liking the game, but why are so many zoomers sperging out at the fact that people enjoy Daggerfall?

There are no factions which offer training in Hand-to-Hand.

Because it's one less wojak, consolewar and porn thread they can make

Training caps at 50% anyway and your main weapon skill will hit that really quickly on its own

This is true. You can rage all you want but in the end the best way to prevent your thread being moved to /vg/ is by not putting things like Editions, Previous thread and General in the OP.

Zoomers are too ADHD. They lack the patience and imagination to even attempt to understand why someone might like Daggerfall. And people are afraid of what they don't understand.

Niche games normally get niche threads where they're left alone, but Daggerfall is in the unfortunate position of having niche appeal to today's audience while being attached to a super popular series, so you get all the casuals wandering in, wondering what all the hubbub is about, and then playing for 5 minutes and declaring it shit like

It can now be easily modded (compared to before) and the game has a really good base to build from, this strikes fear in the hearts of other scrolls game fans.

Well fuck. No wonder I didn't find shit. Guess I have to train it by punching the shit out of everyone. I'm up to 48% now, and hit most of the enemies most of the time (5-10 damage per hit).

Pls respond I want to make an evil mage but I have never played Daggerfall. Is the magic system too convoluted for a newbie?

Guess I don't need a trainer then. I'll just keep punching.

max that speed so you can embrace the kenshiro

Fuck this I'm using an always hit mod

bahahahahahahaha
i did the same thing when i first played morrowind t.skybaby

It's not that hard but you'll be running out of magicka a lot. Join Mage's Guild and use the spell maker to make cheap spells for you to use. In general they become cheaper if you up the per x levels stat though I've found that most spells don't get cheaper beyond per 2 levels. Play around with the spell maker so you get a feeling for it. Don't be afraid to use google for help.

why do you assume people are angry? are you projecting maybe?

is climbing any good? i saw the tutorial mention climbing city walls?

was thinking of making a rogue type

Attached: 1462116307850.gif (350x197, 1.6M)

He's just angry that people don't like his favorite game.

Shoyld I get Dagerfall ? I love CRPG, never tried a TES tho, except Skyrim at my brother's pc.

Is it fun and atmospheric like VTMB ? Or just imagine your story types like Dwarf Forteress ?

Attached: 1564148388723.jpg (461x461, 28K)

No. Pick 3x magicka modifier and most magic schools, first dung will suck but just clear it and go up the giant hill after getting out, this city is the closest to the dungeon and has mages guild access. Buy and make spells here. Maybe grab spell absorb talent too and buy lots of aoe spells and make sure you get hit by the blast with an enemy, enjoy unlimited magicka pmuch

More Dwarf Fortress than VTMB but it's quite fun.

You don't really need to take it as a skill to make use of it

>spend 3 hours scouring a dungeon looking for the rescue target
>finally decide to cheat and teleport to the quest target
>there's no quest target in the dungeon
fuck this game

Attached: 1552299080591.jpg (912x1024, 96K)

Also never played Daggerfall here. Should I play the original or just jump into this version?

This version is all around better.

It's pretty much like DCSS/Rogue/Nethack/DF Adventure mode, but in first person. You run about in dungeons for a bunch killing shit and getting loot until you kill a certain monster/find a certain item, then run back out of it and then turn in your quest, then buy/sell gear and do it all over again.

>Is it fun and atmospheric like VTMB
If you're hoping for vtmb you'll quit in 5 minutes.

Jump into this version

This version is less buggy, more moddable and looks prettier to boot

Wayrest looking real neato. This is definitely gonna breathe new life into the game for me.

Attached: wayrest.png (1920x1080, 682K)

Yeah, I've got 90 in speed already (lvl 3). Gotta go/punch fast!

Are there any major gameplay differences?

Also how do i use the different weapon swings, i've been flicking the mouse, but it seems random. no matter how hard i try to swing from the left it just keeps bashing the skeletons in the shield

Attached: 1461467729384.jpg (200x282, 8K)

Climbing and melee feel a lot better, certain skills actually function this time around. There about it

Easier to stack items in your horse without leaving dungeon.

How do i do it? i jumped at the walls for a bit trying to climb them

Thanks m8.

Can't wait for a full 3d replacement pack. Almost tempted to join the community to see if I can help out since I'm a wannabe indiedev and have used Unity a bunch

It adds a bunch of options but tries to emulate the game mechanically. Less buggy as well.

what armor can I use as a barbarian?

Look up and keep walking towards a wall. You can also hang off ceilings

It depends on how you swipe your mouse if you didn't enable the click to attack option. With click to attack its random.

I think they only get leather or some shit

Is there any downside just camping in a city, training my skills up safe way for months?

There are no different weapon swings. Also, go in the options and select click to attack. Swinging your mouse around gets fucking tiresome.

dang really?
I though that cheese still worked
yea my goals involve consorting with Daedra and other fiends
doing to make my base out in the Dragontail mountains to practice the arcane arts

Who's ready for Daggerfall 2?
oncelostgames.com/

I think chainmail is the max, but i could be wrong.Would be cool if someone made a mod that adds new tiers of chainmail and leather armor.

Playing Dagerfall made me realize how dumbed down Skyrim is. It's astonishing.

no wonder i had click to attack on.

surprised the unity doesn't allow a change for what direction your moving.

is Right? should i not even bother with weapon attack types and just click for random?

So I keep running into the issue of taking a guild quest and finding in uncompletable at early levels. For example, tried to kill a ghost for Cult of Julianos and realized my gear didn't damage it, next I was sent by mages guild to get some basilisk eyes or some shit and the dungeon is brutal, half of it is underwater and filled with slaughterfish.
I guess my question is, should I be more focused on gaining experience/ gear than reputation with guilds in early game?

Which language skills should i take?

How do I get better material weapons?
Do I have to do the burglary trick with the weapon smiths like in vanilla?

Morrowind is better T B H.

I don't even know why you would bother with Daggerfall when Morrowind exists.

Daggerfall to me feels a lot like DF Adventure Mode or ADOM

Lvl up in graveyards and privateer stronghold. I think some guilds will let you rank up from donated gold and items.

Some guilds are easier in the start. Fighters guild especially for me has been super chill. Keep trying though, sometimes the mage guild fetch ingredient quests are near the dungeon start location or have easy enemies

None

>is Right?
No, he's a lying faggot

The different types of swings you can do have different modifiers to accuracy and damage. Afaik they should be implemented in the Unity version. I don't think swinging direction makes a difference to which part of the enemy you hit but I could be wrong.

Some people have the brainpower necessary to enjoy 2 things. I know, it's amazing.

But Daggerfall is hipster trash. In two hours you have literally experienced the entire game.

Dump personality, etiquette and streetwise they said to me... Fuck.
I can't get quests done because no one wants to talk to me.

Attached: 1548664841537.gif (800x600, 910K)

Enjoy incel gameplay.

Talk to people in your guild

If you don't have two hours to spare why do you waste years of your life on Yea Forums?

Ask guildmembers as they like you

I'm worried about reputation loss, that isn't a big deal with failed quests?
I'm really just trying to get basics like mark and recall, healing spells etc.
Sorta in the same vein, do most dungeons have like, a payload at the "end" or are most of them just a random mess of loot and monsters? Like do I need to "clear" a dungeon to get the most out of it or is dipping in and leaving when it gets too messy a viable option?

Not him, but people from my guilds tell me to fuck off as well

Leave when you think you should. Rep loss sucks but 1 success beats out 2-3 failed quests. Maybe just decline or savescum to get more bearable quests

Failing quests does result in rep loss and if your rep goes below 0 you can get kicked out of the guild. Refusing quests has no effect on your reputation though so you can cycle the quests all you want until they give you something you know you can handle.

Attached: 1526422872049.jpg (759x551, 72K)

Having a high luck stat and slaying nerds in the tutorial dungeon yielded me a bunch of silver/elven weapons

Does your race even change anything in Daggerfall?

Aren't there any lore or writing in between quest/dungeon crawling ?
Like, what's the fun ?
Being powerful enough to weild magical nunchaks and have Stacies to laugh at every of your one liners ?
A complex character build ?

Because what I see from this thread is just a buffed up Fable/Skyrim with less subtelty, cool 80'-90' fantasy design (i.e. badass naked grills and "Conanesque" wizards). And thats the thing that interested me, and I fear that I have to farm to get to the good stuff.

I played a lot of shit games till the ending.
Have you ever played that MC Retribution game ?

The Mages guild keeps offering me missions to kill an atronach for which I need dwarven weapons or better.

I beat the game using nothing but unarmed. You don't need fancy equipment.

not if you make a custom class

what are some good advantages/disadvantages for a magic build?

It'll probably be shit.

There's a bunch of books in game like in other elder scrolls games, except these books are longer than two paragraphs. But yeah, it's basically skyrim but less fun.

Then it'll be a pretty faithful sequel

Grave yards are the best places to level new charactors since they are only a few rooms large and have loot lying all over the place.

If you are trying to play optimally then you will always want to start a fight by getting a stealth hit, there's zero reason to ever give up on that and just run in and reveal yourself. But at first you'll probably be like "I'll just land one stealth hit and then go into melee" but you'll soon find that you can just stealth archer the whole game pretty much

Skyrim gives you a fucking X3 damage multiplier for stealth shots

Daedric, Orcish, Etiquette

It can be possible BUT what makes the game fun ?
Skyrim less fun ? You mean with less spells and weapons ? Skyrim vanilla didnt had much and the character build in daggerfall seems more complex so I dont buy it

Attached: 1564662680723.jpg (328x319, 21K)

Should have rolled high personality...

Fun is playing a dungeon crawler, you get lore and questlines to follow as well, but you play it for the same reason people play shit like Diablo and Roguelikes, smack enemies in dungeons, get loot, level up.

space question mark

Thanks user, I will try it. If its kind of like a rogue like it can't be horrible like all the stuff on Steam right now.

I've never played Skyrim. It's not that bad is it? I'm on the fence about picking up the SE for $15.

>make a new character who isn't a redguard this time
>run through the first dungeon in 2 minutes
>people in Daggerfall don't hate me anymore
Nice

why does everyone hate redguard? i'm playing one and i have noticed that everyone is hostile to me

They're niggers

The character builds are about all it has going for it. Otherwise, the game is wide as an ocean and deep as a puddle. None of its other parts compelling. The dungeons would be better if they weren't so huge and the teleporters weren't innocuous objects half the time, but as it is they will wear you down quick. You could spend 8 hours in that fucking thing before you finally find the object of your glorious quest: the general store merchant's jockstrap that was stolen by a pack of orcs. Aside from the main quest, all the npcs are clones. The world is massive but there's not much differentiating its areas. There aren't really opportunities for roleplaying. There's a lot to the game, but it's not fleshed out so it feels like a lot of nothing.

Breton and Redguard dont get along.

Why are people worrying about class so much? Literally just pick anything that sounds cool, the game's not hard. People say you need teleport but that's bullshit, just keep track of where you are and learn to navigate, the dungeons become actually fun then.

>Mac

oh no hes retarded.

After getting the letter and meeting the girl in the tavern, there aren't any timers left and I can do stuff at my own pace, right?

Attached: 1523021147449.jpg (1080x1080, 174K)

Some blacksmith was like "Go get gold bars from these places and bring them back"

So I go to this palace he tells me to go to - but what is the usual progression? Is it laying around somewhere? Do I usually have to talk to an NPC? I can't find shit

Stop right there criminal scum, you're taking a language skill!

There's going to be just about zero Daedra that are going to be able to be sneaked up on while you enter "talk" interaction mode so you can ask them "where is the fighters guild?", but with it as a major skill you're going to need to find Daedra to sneak up on and have a conversation with to level up.

Nevermind I found it, it was a tiny yellow item on the floor of one of the rooms, I didn't see it at first.

roll to git gud

>git gud at rolling dice
sorry, but your redditry doesn't even make sense here

Don't forget the hidden door you have to interact with that perfectly blends in with the rest of the dungeon walls so you have to go through the entire dungeon spamming interact on the walls hoping they open up for you so you can finally complete your quest.

It's perpetually buttmad morrowind babbies who are upset their venerable obtuse game is being eclipsed by its even more venerable and more obtuse predecessor.
This is a conflict that predates Yea Forums and the modern internet.

>Too much of a scrub to get out of the first dungeon.
Fuck me sideways.

Any idea what they might be up to?
I spoke to the lady on the left and she asked me if I could help her deliver a package, I refused and just as I was walking out of he room I was attacked by a thief who said 'Oi I overheard you speaking to So-and-so, you better give me the package, or else'
Had to kill the bitch.

Let's be honest

Morrowind > Daggerfall

Daggerfall dungeons are pure survival horror until you've got some levels and game knowledge under your belt
Privateer's Hold will fuck you up probably yes, especially if you try to fight everything but once you know what you're doing you run through it in 45 seconds.
This isn't a game and it's definitely not a Todd Howard themepark. It's a fantasy life simulator that isn't really interested whether you live or die or how unfair it is that you ran into an ancient vampire on your second dungeon excursion.

you gon learn today

Hope you know how to climb

Haven't played through the beginning of Unity but supposedly the AI is improved. There's an imp behind a door early on, I think it's supposed to teach you that you don't have to kill everything because the imp is really difficult but you can avoid it easily. But if Unity has improved AI then maybe it's harder to avoid it and that might cause trouble for any build that can't deal with it.
Either that or people are just being retarded

I think the only people who'd disagree with this are hardcore dungeon-crawlan fags who don't even like morrowind to begin with.

can someone explain to a morrowindbabby how leveling and training works in this game? i noticed that my skills increase when i fast travel, but that's about it.

Daggerfall is so old it's cool, like a Cary Grant flick. Morrowind is dated in a bad way, like Michael Winslow passing off toy laser gun sounds as comedy.

They like you in Hammerfell
Also I notice people talking shit to me as a Breton as well

daggerfall has generic fetch quests, morrowind has escort quests

What does the green line on the map mean?

Kill people

That's a dungeon exit. Red one is you.

Oh, ok thanks

I've combed out the entire dungeon and no quest objective. What was the console command to teleport through quest locations again?

Blunt is a fair contender if only for the fact that staves get a larger pool for enchanting.

Can't wait for sex mods and quests.

This

how do I powergame right again, it's been ages since I played

I remember you could take a high elf and give him critical weakness to everything since he was immune anyway but I can't combine low tolerance with critical weakness anymore.

Nevermind, I found it. It was tele2qitem

You need at least 2-3 years of mage's guild experience to be accepted into the mage's guild, don't bother applying otherwise

Is it worth to get infected by a werebeast?

You can do quests for guilds even if you aren't a member.

Lycanthropy is absurdly strong.

rendering modes ranked in terms of soul

Is there a mod for the classic (ie. non-fullscreen with all the icons on the bottom) interface?

How do I get new spells

Sure there isnt a setting for that in the launch menu? Dont know why you would want that shit though.

I can't find an option for it. I want it because the classic setting is soul and the fullscreen one is soulless. No one ever played Daggerfall in fullscreen except zoomers trying it out in DOSBox.

320x200 back then was: stop being a POORFAG and buy a fucking pentium or 486

Why is the world so dead? Been walking around for hours and outside the city it's just a wasteland. Morrowind was a big improvement on this game.

yeah, all we can do is wait for mods to fix it.

This game is fun but fuck me the random quests that commoners give you are fucking awful. They're so buggy and inconsistent. I just took on a quest to defend a house from assassins, I kill the assassin, and I can't talk to the questgiver no matter what. Search it up on the wiki and lo and behold, there's a 75% chance the second assasin doesn't spawn making the quest unfinishable. Fuck me these are some awful fucking quests. Another quest I did before to do with healing some person's cousin just ended when the sick person disappeared randomly and I could never hand in the quest. She didn't die she just disappeared. Gonna try out some dungeon delving quests and main quests and see how they go.

Skills go up on rest.
When you fast travel your character either rests at inns which cost gold or camps out which costs nothing.
This isn't Skyrim where you fast travel and take the absolute quickest line-route to the destination and ignore sleep.

Just found out apparently fast travel is measured in days not hours. As a result I can't go the that inn the Emperor's agent wants me to go to. Fuck my life I might just restart

Man these realisations and bugs have really sucked the immense joy out of me. Time to restart and try again tomorrow.

Hey Yea Forums what do you call a Wood Elf who doesn't lie or cheat or steal?

Yup lol. I was under the assumption fast travel was measured in hours, and I still kinda feel like it is cuz I swear I fast travelled to a bunch of places and did some quests and maybe on two days passed. It must've been a month and two days lol. I'm gonna try again from Privateer's Hold.

In its current state, is this a superior experience to the original? I mean, can I play this from beginning to end just as well / better than the original now?

yes

Can't seem to get the Roland SC-55 soundfont to load properly. Unity boot up settings menu recognizes it but it sounds VERY different from the Bassmidi System Synth implementation and not very different from the default music.

Also, is there a way to use the classic UI and not the minimalistic updated version. That and the music are pretty big turn offs for me.

Download the Soundfont from any source fucking Yea Forums mods labeled Anonfiles or Roland as Spam
And then extract on "Daggerfall\DaggerfallUnity_Data\StreamingAssets\SoundFonts"
Then open or create a settings dot ini file inside DaggerfallUnity_Data folder and add SoundFont= filename.sf2 there is a settings dot ini at locallow too

If you have trouble in the starter dungeon, just follow this video guide to escape.
You don't have to kill a single thing in the dungeon. Even if you can't hit anything, even if your weapons don't work against the imps, the game is designed so that any character can escape. There are skills for running, jumping, and climbing. And you can survive purely on those skills. Just run nigger.

Attached: privateers_hold_fast.webm (640x400, 2.88M)

keep running

That user here
You may use VirtualMidiSynth too, im using it and it works well.

if not look for the settins ini inside LocalLow folder and change it there.

Does he yell 'VENGEANCE!' in a spoopy voice?

It's broad day light and he's still chasing me

>ruining the experience

People should find the exit on their own. If they need a guide to get out they'll just end up teleporting to their quest objectives in dungeons anyway. Fucking zoomers.

It's just like real life

Not him, but yeah I got the same ghost. What is the best way to defeat him?

B-b-but I'm supposed to be the HERO, everyone has to wait for me! What do you mean this isn't some shitty themepark that revolves around my character?!

KEEP
RUNNING

How easy it is to mod this? I've really no experience here. But I've always wanted to change some of the formulas for some stealth activities. Make shoplifting easier, make exterior locks in towns not all level 1, give more rewards for pickpocketing than 1-3 gold. Would these kinds of changes be difficult to make?

It's the Ghost of King Lysandus, you have to do the main questline. Not going to spoil anything.

Don't have ADD and play within your limits

In the opening sequence Uriel says a ghost is haunting Daggerfall crying for vengeance. That's why you get attacked by a ghost crying for vengeance. Maybe if you give him the vengeance he desires he will go away.

How you're supposed to do those quests is to go inside the location and just wait and walk around till monsters spawn in small waves each 2-3 in game minutes. That way it's more manageable. You get a message when you've killed all.

Yes
None of the npcs care there's a ghost running around
He's this dude? Or is this just a generic ghost?

Attached: Wraith_%28Daggerfall%29.png (360x450, 68K)

To be fair those show on the dungeon map as a gap in the wall. But there are things just as bad as you describe in the form of hidden switches that use the same sprites as the normal dungeon decorations.

Unironically this. Every time Daggerfall would make me mad with some obtuse unfun mechanic I'd stop and think "but what would happen if I did this irl?"
If you stop random fucking people on the street to ask dumb questions, IRL you're going to get shit on repeatedly until you find the one guy willing to put up with your ugly ass. Unless you're hot.
So ugloids should probably just stick to bashing spiders in cellars or put in the effort and humiliation to grind up their "status"

Attached: 1530235684241.jpg (332x332, 13K)

Is there a way to see the name of the dungeon I am currently in right now?

you dumped personality or set your commoner rep to negative didn't you
one thing that helps to keep in mind is that all villagers have the same opinion of you because they belong to the same faction: people of
so there's no point to talking to multiple people unless they say they don't know where to find what you're looking for. if the first one hates you just keep trying to talk to him until he doesn't.

My mistake was thinking fast travel went by hours instead of days, so I missed the extended deadline by two weeks, when I thought only a couple days had passed lol

What's the minimum I should put on personality

I rolled low personality and that +5 commoner rep really helped I feel. I also got underworld and scholar rep from questions answered so that was cool. I'll probably increase personality to 40 to make getting info more consistent as it's fairly dull work despite being realistic

1 is good

Don't dump personality, faggots telling you to do that are memeing people into fucking their game

Depends on your tolerance for asking the same question over and over. strictly speaking it's not necessary for anything but it saves time getting directions.

I put 30 and it's a pain outside guild members. But you can manage with almost anything honestly.

30 Personality or so is literally fine, it's a waste having anything higher.

30 personality and nobody wants to talk with me.

real life or game?

Where do I get better weapons? I keep getting thrown against enemies I can't hurt with my steel weapons and no smith sells better.

>excuse me, what time is it?
>even if I knew, I wouldn't be a tellin a redguard

Once you're out of the starter dungeon just dick around with easy quests for a bit until you gain a couple of levels, you'll find something Silver / Elven / Dwarven pretty quickly.

>Hey just wondering where I could find Gregor Winwick
>And why would I tell you?

Turn to a life of crime, take jobs that put you in a position to kill other better-equipped humans, dungeon dive and hope you don't become a permanent denizen, hang out with guilds

how did you even do that

Did anyone find where to pawn off armor and misc items? People I find only buy weapons.

They should've called the guards on you

Have you tried armor shops?

Yes

I didn't see any, bad luck l I guess. I checked all stores in like 5 cities, but that's probably just random.

I used to believe that whenever you declined a quest, your rep with said faction would decrease, and I would load my save again until finding a decent quest to prevent that from happening.

They made it so dodge skill actually works now. Apparently vanilla DF accidentally uses the enemy's own dodge level instead of your own to calculate evasion chance.

Good to know bethesda were idiots back then too

>fighers guild send me to dungeon
>walk in, kill enemy in first room, loot treasure
>only door is locked
>walk out
>walk back in
>treasure and enemy respawned
>door still locked
i may fail this quest but at least i have found the key to infinite gold i guess. fr tho how do i unlock this door?

>Skeleton screeches

if it's not magically locked or locked by a switch then just beating it down usually works

>Todd Howard voiced the skellys
Imagine him doing it outside your window at 2:00 AM because you refused to buy Skyrim.

huh did not know you could do that lmao that's pretty cool thanks xx

-Dark elf has extra weapon hit and dmg every 4 levels
-Kangz have extra weapon hit and dmg every 3 levels
-Wood elf extra bow hit and dmg every 3 levels if you have range expertise, plus the regular bonus to hit/dmg you get from the expertise itself anyways
-High elf and Nord have resistances to a particular element

I don't know about the rest.

Daggerfall was downright legendary for how buggy it was, moreso than anything* before or since from Bethesda. That's a big part of what makes DFU so great: as a baseline we get Daggerfall as it was actually designed for the first time ever, and then potentially mods could give us Daggerfall as it should have been.

*Maybe Fallout 76 finally broke that record but it's a close call honestly.

People keep making this claim, but I haven't seen a single fact to back it up.

now activate the floating chair below it

I think it was in that Bethesda documentary

It's true. We still have the unedited sounds archived but as long as I live I swear they will never see the light of day .

Kek

>enter Daggerfall with phat l00t
>trade it in to shopkeeper and buy some other items

Morrowind > Skyrim > Oblivion > Daggerfall > Arena

>People complaining about how their weapons can't hurt [enemy]

*as far as i know, i don't think I'm actually that far in yet, toughest thing I've fought thus far was a lich

40 and let the dice roll it up to 50 like the other stats you dumped to 40

Why can't I make an Imperial?

You got the pacman mouths wrong, but other than that, perfect.

>placing oblivion above anything
nope

ok see you tomorrow

Fuck off faggot I remember you posting this on /o/ a while ago

>responding to a bot

>his dungeon has portals

Oblivion has some good side quests and being able to cast while holding a 2h sword is fun as hell

>find a secret door
>it's also locked

speaking of, is it normal for portals to look like brick walls or has DFU fucked up

Attached: portal.png (1302x1080, 241K)

Portals only look like brick walls. What other types of portals have you seen?

Almost right

Morrowind > Oblivion > Daggerfall > Skyrim >Arena

is it actually finished?

>dick ass orc teleports me to dungeon
>this lock has nothing to fear from you

I bashed the door in, but still

How about this

Morrowind > Daggerfall > Skyrim > Oblivion > Arena

The game is playable and able to be completed apparently, but still with bugs

Is there a way to see what reputation you have with the cities?

Finished in the sense that it now has all the content of the original game. Only problem is it’s retained most of the bugs too, so between here and 1.0 it’s all squashing those and making the game actually make sense.

almost

Daggerfall > Arena > Morrowind > Skyrim > Oblivion

close
daggerfall > morrowind > skyrim > arena > oblivion

>arena above any game

>arena lower than skyrim
zoomer detected

anybody try this mod to help find secret doors?

>die to skeleton on other side of door
>go through door on respawn
>no skeleton
>continue down hallway
>where tf is that skeleton
>RRUUAAAH
>behind me
>shit pants

Nearly there

Arena > Skyrim > Daggerfall > Oblivion > Morrowind

I know the map is giant and it's not really feasible, but can you actually walk from one city to another in real time? Or is DF like Arena, where the field outside the cities was just a generic infinite landscape and the only way to tmove around was fast travel?

This, but in reverse

It would take literal world time weeks without using fast travel

Any mod to remove this? Its cool the first few hours, then it really starts grating on the ears.

Also if anyone is tired of the dungeons simply being too big, go into the forums and find the thread about short dungeons or something. There is an experimental option that makes them like 1/4th as big which you can enable by editing some text. I had no issues using it. This was months ago in an earlier version though so the option might not even exist anymore.

Attached: 1564430783325.jpg (633x640, 77K)

Morrowind < Oblivion < Daggerfall < Skyrim < Arena

Yeah you can but there isnt anything interesting to see. Its fun to do like once.

Aren't there enemies in the field?

Basically, would just change one thing
Morrowind = Oblivion = Daggerfall = Skyrim = Arena

You can walk from one city to another and it only takes like 20 minutes if they're nearby. If you want to walk across the whole map then yeah it'd be a few real life days at least. Sentinel City has a dungeon that's about a 5 minute ride directly north with a horse. I would often get sent there on quests and got into the habit of riding there manually just to sake in the scale.

I heard it happens sometimes but Ive never seen it.

There aren't any in the field normally but enemies can spawn near you randomly in the wilderness. if you're running somewhere you won't even notice since they'll lag behind and despawn after a bit. If you try to rest in the wilderness there's a decent chance to get interrupted by a random monster, but other than that it's uneventful.

what soundfont is the most accurate for SC-55? google leads me to patch93’s on doom forums but just wondering if there's anything better than that.

Imperials dont actually exist.

>Needing a mod to help find secret doors
Just pay attention to your map idiot

>go kill some giants for the fighter guild
>kill like three whole dungeon cleared minus some underwater bit giant can't be under there I figure
>go to turn in quest dude tells me to finish the job
Is the giant down there swimming Yea Forums?

Morrowind > Daggerfall > Oblivion > Arena > insurmountable powergap > Skyrim

>Just pay attention to your map idiot
breaks immersion

It tells you if you killed enough IIRC. Just loiter around in there until more spawn.

who's making the new thead?

I've tried that but it just keeps giving me orcs. Gettin a shitload of gear though.

water walking and breathing are quite valuable
either use magic which is cheap in terms of Mp or get some potions
I think there are potions for it
