Mechs are the logical step once BCI becomes a common thing and heat/power problems are solved.
You don't need to train someone for years to get into a complex machine and press buttons, just toss your best soldier into an iron suit and tell him to shoot things.
Can also traverse difficult terrain and lower and raise its profile at will. It's no coincidence that higher life forms have legs, they're highly efficient, more efficient than wheels or tracks and the only reason they're not employed is because combustion is only good at delivering constant gradual force.
Basically tankfags are brainlets.

the most fun i've had was in Mediums and heavies. Assaults are for powercreeps and have serious diminishing returns and lights are almost useless without map objectives or blatantly overpowered.
