The gameplay in X-2 is some of the best in the series but it's very different from FFX. FFX is strictly turn-based, FFX-2 is ATB.

Well it's not exacty like the first three since turns are per-character and pre-determined and allow manipulation via rapid hit and speed spells and shit.
It's one of if not the most strategic gameplay the series has ever had. ATB is kind of a cool idea but the real-time aspect doesn't really add anything to the games.
