do you mean the 'building your town' part?

Well, I mean the building your town and then able to go down and actually move your character around in it, part. Also, while we're talking about Dark Cloud, I really like taking pictures of literally everything in Dark Cloud 2.

i like the building up the weapons mechanic, but when i was a kid i didnt prepare well enough and eventually ran out of repair powder, and/or water, and escape powder, so i broke the weapon with the stats of all the gameplay up to that point, and i died of dehydration. then i just stopped playing because fuck that

Within its own game or in general? Got a Tales example for both. In its own game, creating special artes/eres in Tales of Legendia, I liked the idea of making an attack that no other attack has the property of, and you had special status effects that could apply to the attacks depending on the attacks used. It ended up being just one type of attack, and only for melee fighters.

Used more often, the debt system in Xillia 2. It was a little rough how it was executed, but I would like to see a system that would treat your money like an actual resource, maybe make it so that something optional but really good needs money to be unlocked. For more interesting ideas, I would imagine a party member who is sick and needs some magic doctor to do an operation, but until that operation is paid for, the party member is at like 70% of their max stats the entire game, or make it so that you have a shitty sword that you start with, and you can upgrade it so many fucking times that you inadvertently create that character's ultimate weapon

>when a weapon breaks that you spent hours building and your last save was over 3 hours ago

This was one of my favorite PS2 games. To this day I don't understand why people never made anything similar ever again.

>spy RPG
>choices influence narrative
>relationships with characters affect story events/endings, can provide bonuses if they are handlers
>can build intel dossiers on your targets that tell you how to provoke/charm them, or provide special dialogue options
give me a spiritual successor set during the Cold War, for the love of god please

If you are pirating why would you not try anything you have even the vaguest interest in?

I enjoyed how punishing Dark Cloud could be if you failed to plan ahead. Dark Cloud 2 was too easy.

Level 5 hit gold with Dark Cloud 1 and 2 but everything else they've made has either been simplistic kid shit or not my thing. Town building in one was simple yet engaging enough to be interesting, and Dark Cloud 2 let you go full on autism which made it engaging. A third one at this point would probably suck given their track record.

Cursed game

Having all your stats immediately disappear because you fucked up once is something that belongs in a roguelike, not this.

I just don't care for how character switching is a thing.
It's the worst thing to drop a game for, but there we go. I want to play a single character putting a town together while fucking up a dungeon.

There are not nearly enough RPG musicals.

I played a single character and used items bought from shops to clear floors that forced me to use another character.

DQB2 gives me similar feels to Dark Cloud

I'd like to see more attempts at 3rd person RTS, wether it's more direct attempts at copying sacrifice like Brutal Legend or somewhat more hands-off like Stubbs the Zombie, I just think the concept has potential. Also there's not nearly enough games where you play the bad guy, usually you're the not-very-nice guy or lesser-of-two-evils guy at best.

Forgot my pic

The best way to play it is to just use Toan anyway, rather than splitting up your resources by six

>not saving after every dungeon run

I never finished Dark Cloud 2 because the game softlocked in the final dungeon and I couldn't clear the floor due to the key not dropping, setting me back several hours due to being a stupid kid and not saving enough.

I remember being amazed that the weapon I had equipped was in the cutscenes. Simpler times.

I never tried DC2 although I am currently playing 1 and enjoying it a shit load I am afraid that either I wont like DC2 as much or that it will swallow me full autism no life mode. Can someone give me a tldr review comparing dc 1 and 2?

I played both, and here's my thoughts. Dark Cloud 1's combat kinda sucks. At least, it does in comparison to 2. 2 has much better combat. Also, 2 has much a much better dungeon generator. I loved buildings my towns in Dark Cloud 1, and Dark Cloud 2 doesn't seem to have that unfortunately. However, Dark Cloud 2 has MUCH BIGGER towns and they're incredibly detailed and fun to search through. Dark Cloud 2 instead gives you a camera in which you can take a picture of anything and anyone, which is very fun. The objects you take pictures of can be combined for inventions, which are things you can build once you have the materials for them. Takes a lot of grinding but it's satisfying to get a good item this way. Also, Dark Cloud 2 doesn't destroy a weapon if it breaks fortunately, and the weapon buildup is much easier in Dark Cloud 2. That's a lot of positive tradeoffs, but then again I really liked building towns in Dark Cloud 1.

ranged can be good for a couple enemies that are a bitch to deal with up close. but other than that i hate switching

>DC2
>no town building
You played the tutorial and quit, I see

Play Soul Blazer.

Legend of Legaia

You zoomer faggots don’t even remember this

Lost Kingdoms 2 was better but the atmosphere was worse.

Well do I have a game for you.
I'm dead serious, this game is actually really good.

The entire sewers are the tutorial? Well, that's one downside then. The tutorial is way too long.

Yep, but after that you get to build towns in a much more in depth way than DC1. The dungeons are much longer in DC2, but overall better. DC2 is technically better in almost every way, but DC1 has the """comfy""" charm in its simplicity.

fuck I remember that feel
>surely I can hit this dragon one more time before using a repair powder

I would kill for a Dark Cloud 3. Buildings your towns and walking around in them is super damn comfy.

are you the same person who posted about this game earlier
