Dont get it unless theres games you want.
Neither.
whatever you do, don't get the lite, the Joycons on both drift easily after a few months use, and with lite it will be much harder to deal with that problem
A switch plush WILL happen but after halfway through this gen, this is how the console market works.
Do you want to play Switch games so badly you can't wait for that? Get a Switch, if you can wait, just wait.
I personally couldn't wait anymore 4 days after BotW came out, that and Mario Odyssey made it worth it alone. Keep in mind it will gather dust for a bunch of months every so often, I personally don't mind because I'm busy as fuck, but this can be a dealbreaker.
Switch plus obviously
yeah i really want to play smash and other games zelda, mario etc
so 3 more years?
like i have waited this long i "guess" i can wait some more, but it sucks that i might have to wait till next year
I'm going to buy a lite for my gf and either get a pro or borrow the light when SMT is released
I get a better version of botw on my pc and there's literally nothing else I want to play
Count on there being many iterations of the Switch. If there are games you want to play right now just buy it. If you're worried about not having the 'best' version of the Switch you will have to wait until the platform is EOL to determine which one that was.
yeah i guess youre right, maybe i should just get it
Does switch Lite have the same analog stick?
A switch pro would have to use a new chip, and first word of the chip in the upcoming Lite showing up in firmware was something like 15 months ago so I don't think they will for a while.
I'm waiting until the next SMT is out. By then there will be a Switch Lite Pro and it'll be half of its release price.
oh shit, thanks user.
So ive decided to buy one now and who cares if a new version comes out.
so now the question is do i buy a new one or a used one, heard that joy con drifting was a thing
>next year
That gives you a whole year to enjoy masterpieces like Mario Osyssey and lesser games like BOTW
Think about it this way. Nintendo consoles generally have a five-year lunch cycle. The Nintendo Switch launched in 2017. That gives you another three years before a new console comes out. If there is a revision you can always trade in your current model for a discount or sell it online.
>buying used consoles
>especially a handheld one with a touchscreen
>wanting something that could have came from a smoking home or filthy kids could have touched
Only acceptable to buy used hardware if they're no longer sold in stores, don't do yourself a disservice user. Also buy the normal one not the lite budget version.
>masterpieces like Mario Osyssey
jesus christ kids, see name
>3 more years?
Halfway between 2017 and 2022 is 2019/2020.
thanks Yea Forums bros im gonna go out there and buy myself a switch
I'm waiting personally. The games I'm interested in will still be there and I still have a lot on my backlog and if a new Switch with better hardware does indeed come along, I know I'll be sad playing lesser versions of those games on it.
It'll be especially pronounced when titles like Metroid Prime 4 come out and I'm sitting there knowing I'm playing the lower framerate, possibly lower res version of that game.
Congratulations, the way you write makes you an even bigger faggot than he is
Boomer faggot too old and fat to appreciate good games anymore. I’ve been playing Mario since N64 came out and I can still admit odyssey is the superior Mario experience.
Sounds like you never bothered to get past 500 moons and unlock the good content.
Note that the Switch Pro hardware was also hinted at in that same firmware. It's why Journos thought two models were coming this year.
I'm 99% sure we'll have another Switch by Summer next year.
>Buying yourself a switch
>2019
Come on bro, my wife's boyfriend bought me mine
Let me make this clear since the majority of this board hasn't seem to caught on yet. The switch is made for commuting japs with 3 hour commutes, hence why fixing shit like online is a non-priority for them. This is why they put out a smaller, more portable version of the Switch with fewer features, because most people in Japan don't care about the docked aspect of it. There will NEVER be an upgraded version of the Switch, just shittier versions made for salarymen. The base one is the best you're ever getting
Just emulate.
Oh shit, was it? What was the codename for the other chip then so I can google it?
That explains the push for mobile and I know China has similar commutes as well. Doesn’t really bother me because I mostly play handheld while doing stuff on my PC anyways.
well im a University student and i just want a nice, fun console to play on but i hate handheld and will use it almost exclusively in docked mode
There probably will be one next year but it is hard to say. If you don't mind playing on handheld only just get the Lite.
Well it's a shame a multi-national corporation like Nintendo doesn't give a shit about your particular situation, wants or needs
Get the regular one on sale, the switch lite is kinda a bad deal at it's pricepoint.
>switch plus
You got memed son. Get the lite, it’s lighter than a 3DS XL too.
well i didn't say it had too, i was just making a comparison bud haha
>I just want a console
For what purpose?
well, the switch lite feels like a good deal imo, especially if you never planned on using a tv screen.
It has a better controller layout, longer battery life, it'll probably be sturdier and since the screen is smaller, the pixel density will be better, so games will look sharper on the smaller screen.
I'm also a Uni student but the library on the switch just isn't my cup of tea just yet, I'm waiting for some more JRPGs to show up and Nintendo to improve their online standards to that of their competitors 15 fucking years ago, but both of those aren't happening so I just don't think I'll get one. If you like the library and think you'd get plenty of use out of it then just go for it, just remember all the extra costs besides the $300 for the console, such as the games, the SD card you WILL have to buy, and the overpriced pro controller.
>tfw want to buy a switch but want to time it when the revised version of the original switch hits the shelves
Any way to possibly tell the difference between them?
engadget.com
i had the 3ds for a while. I got it when it first launched and i think its time to let it go, i probably played all the worth while games on it
>Already have a wii u and PC
I have zero reasons to buy a shitch
Dude, here's the thing, the switch is fucking amazing but'ill advise it to you only if
1/ you didn't have a wiiu
2/ it's hackable
Yeah this is probably my main gripe with the Switch
>if you didnt play 1000 hours how can you tell if it's bad
Apparently Nintendo delayed the improved revised version til next year and since they announce their revisions kinda out of nowhere, I'd say if you really want one wait until next year at least.
Bought a switch and borrowed my boyfriend's BOTW cartridge to play on while waiting for pokemon and possibly new ace attorney in the near future.
Yeah i never had the wiiU, i kinda waited too long to buy one and ended up never buying one at all
also i know i can hack the switch for free games and stuff but i think il just buy the games, heard that alot of piraters end up bricking their system
>Possibly new ace attorney
>She hasn't learned that Capcoms AA branch hates the west with a burning passion.
sword or shield gang?
the trilogy is on the switch and im pretty sure with MHW they have grown to hate the west a little less hahaah
t. Didn’t play the game
Sword wolf looks cool so I'll get that!
Aww, guess I'll just wait to play the dai gyakuten 2 translation.
Do I really need to play generic collect-a-thon game #2435 to know I wont like it?
I’m terrified of analog stick drift happening to the Switch lite
Odyssey is the exact opposite of generic. The biggest complaint most people have with it is the settings/graphics are too varied and there isn’t a cohesive theme and the overall technical quality suffers. You’re just a miserable shitposter though so don’t expect another response
That’s really not what it is but why are you arguing with me if you don’t like Mario games in the first place?
Even if they release the Switch Pro there will not be games or versions of games that are Switch Pro only. If you're really holding out for a bigger screen or something, hold on I guess, but all games will continue to be developed with the base Switch in mind.
This, it will probably be like the new 3ds again with hardly any exclusives.
That said, they may improve the performance/visuals of already existing games with a pro version.
>want to buy a switch lite
>it literally looks like a Fisher Price toy
Just finish those fucking emulators
A Switch that can't Dock or remove Joycons really isn't a Switch.
Guess they couldn't change the name.
Buy the gray one then.
It's replacing the 3DS. Does it make sense now, moron? It's a handheld but better because you can play the regular Switch console library.
Last year I had the opportunity to get a Switch, but I passed it up.
"They'll probably announce a new model at E3", I said.
"The next Smash game is probably another year away", I said.
"I'll get one next year", I said.
Then I watched Nintendo's E3 presentation. No new Switch model, Smash Ultimate was announced coming out at the end of the year even.
You know what I said then?
"FUCK! I AM THE DUMBEST MOTHERFUCKER IN THE WORLD!"
Just buy one of the Switches you can hack (you can look up guides that tell you what serial numbers work) and then if they release a Pro Switch or whatever you have the option of getting that one and hacking your old one
With what Nintendo was able to wring out of the Switch hardware early-on in Odyssey and BOTW, I can't see what difference this would make. Unless you're one of the idiots who is playing stuff like The Witcher and 2K on Switch--and why would you do that in the first place?
Still doesn't make it okay. Nintendo are lazy hacks
>Keep in mind it will gather dust for a bunch of months every so often
Not for me, indie games often fill that gap and they'll occasionally go on sale for dirt cheap so you should keep an eye on the eshop each week
yeah that happened with the wiiU, ive always wanted to hack it
Not that dude but i wish it had dark buttons. Hopefully we get an all black or white variant in the future.
Everyone has said pro is coming, so. And I'm not talking about the twitter cunts, I'm saying the reputable websites that actually knows what they're talking about.
>it's not the system I wish it was so it's bad
did you see their stock prizes jump after they announced it? I love it when aging nintentoddlers get mad when Nintendo shows them over and over that they are not the core audience.
Search for a new unpatched switch if you homebrew and game backups.
The 3rd hardware version is confirmed, if that bothers you then wait.
It's legit confirmed, it's in the firmware update that confirmed the switch lite months ago.
Unless you're really strapped for cash I'd get a regular Switch. Being stuck on handheld mode for Mario Odyssey and Zelda seem like a pain, you should play them on a TV screen.
It's the material
i think i found a seller that has a mario bundle, might get that one
Kys zoomer
mario bundle might be unpatched.
What gen is the switch even in? It came out in the middle of the ps4 and xbone gen. And the wii u came out about 75% through the ps3 and 360 gen.
Is switch the gen with ps4 and xbone? Or is it the gen after them?
It feels like nintendo just operate on their own thing.
>And the wii u came out about 75% through the ps3 and 360 gen
more like 85%
>3 hour commutes
no wonder they have suicide forests.
