The next smash is a reboot, what do you want to see? This is regarding the roster, stages and modes.

It won’t happen, and it’s got nothing to do with Sakurai saying everyone is here won’t happen again. it’s to do with the fact that working on 70+ fighters proved it took up lots of development time. I doubt they would want to waste as much character developing time on ultimate as they would in a reboot.

This just got me a thinkin' about somethin'. has anyone made any mods of Ultimate yet that let you play as Assist Trophies? Considering How close a lot of them are to actual characters, I bet it would be easier than ever.

I'd like to see a new producer just for the sake of seeing something entirely new. Feels like there hasn't really been any major gameplay features since brawl and the stuff that was introduced in Smash 4 had all of their potential squandered in Ultimate.

What's the point of talking about a reboot if you fags are just going to talk about fucking cuts. The gameplay for the next Smash is gonna be way more important if it's going to have a smaller roster

because the roster is the most important part of smash and it literally doesn't matter how they change the gameplay if they also have to make cuts.

Rather than cutting characters, I'd like to see the characters with echos/clones have more variation. Characters like Ken or Ganon are pretty fine all things considered, but I have some ideas for others:
Samus: Give her moves based directly off of stuff in Metroid. Maybe change her B special to be closer to the power beam in Super Metroid. Give Dark Samus buffs and retain the original moveset so fans of that moveset aren't missing out.

Dark Pit: Give him entirely different specials, beside maybe Up B. There are a ton of weapons in KI:U and I think it'd be cool to see more of those represented.

Richter: Change his sub-weapon specials to SoTN sub-weapons. If, say, keeping holy water, make it function more like it does in SoTN. Simon can keep the OG sub-weapon specials.

The Links: Regular Link is mostly fine, but I wouldn't say no to a few more move changes to give him more BotW stuff. Young Link doesn't need to be modified from a gameplay standpoint, but Majora's Mask inspired skins would be cool. Toon Link should receive changes to implement more from Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks in order to make him his own thing entirely.

For other clones, I'm not entirely sure what to change honestly, so maybe you guys have some ideas? I'd like some new characters added to the game too:
New characters: Mega Man X, Klonoa, Doomguy, J.C. Denton, it won't happen I know[/spoile]
New echos: Protoman

They will either:
>A) Make the game competitive and fast like Melee while also having a platforming story mode like Brawl with a more narrowed roster, giving both casuals and competitives a reason to want this game while Ultimate exists.
>B) Port Ultimate but add a few things. This would allow pretty high earnings vs costs because people will buy the entire game again while they aren't putting in a full games worth of investment.
>C) The genre is changed entirely and we get something like Smash Suikoden or Smash Kart or something.
>D) The series is canceled, which is the least likely outcome because Smash is a cashcow. It would come to option B over and over before this happens.

I’d say most third party are going to be cut. namely square and Konami, possibly Microsoft too, but sega (mainly sonic) , capcom( mainly megaman) and pac are all safe.

This idea sounds great, a reboot could easily fix the clones aswell however, so you’ve kinda outnumbered yourself there.

Option A is about 75% certain

Option B and I hate to say this is 30% possible

Option C is 20% possible

Option D is 0% Nintendo knows smash sells, they aren’t going to cancel it.

Imagine if they split up Hero and gave each one 16 different specials.

I don’t want a new Smash if it means losing what we have

Every Smash game from here on out should bring in everything from the previous game and expand on what's already there, maybe adding in a new game mode or Adventure story.

Everyone knows Smash 6 is basically going to be a Smash Ultimate port except with more refurbished mechanics, story mode, and will get retitled to something else like "Smash Bros Infinite" to give off the illusion of being a new entry. The DLC characters shown off for Ultimate will end up being part of the base game roster. Any actual new additions will go as follows:

>A new IP character
>Some random anime swordfighter
>Crash Bandicoot
>An unexpected retro character like Excitebike

This. Ultimates the last smash or there’s no point continuing unless it’s a port with a few more characters and that’s insanely unlikely due to third party deals. Just be happy it’s what we have, hope for more DLC and hope ultimate lasts as long as melee did.

I'll never understand how there were people who actively desired for Melee and Brawl characters to be dlc for Sm4sh. They would have still been dlc regardless, but the fact that people would rather have a cut semiclone return instead of adding something new is ridiculous. While ultimate showed that smash can’t be topped, that’s not to prove a generic cut game/reboot couldn’t improve the franchise.

In about 3-4 years time, people will need to start feeling like this again, because cuts will happen and they may lose their favourite character.

I wouldn't mind if they tried making a Smash game that played like Powerstone i.e. top-down 3D, it would probably fit the casual mindset Sakurai had for Smash originally more than the current style
