Rain World's extremely deceptive, it gives you no indication whatsoever it even has a story but there's top tier worldbuilding and a fantastic and unique setting/lore to put together that comes together out of nowhere about 2/3rds of the way through.

Gameplay wise it's something like a nonlinear metroidvania except without any sort of powers or upgrades, the tools you have at endgame are virtually identical to those you have at the start. big emphasis on exploration and discovery, you're in an alien world with a really well-done ecosystem simulator. creatures have habitats, stomping grounds, and all sorts of varied interactions with one another.

like Pathologic it requires some patience. You're playing the part of a small prey animal and by god you'd best think like one, trying to pick fights when you aren't good is asking for a quick death. it's all about learning about your environment and everything in it and using that knowledge to your advantage.

tl;dr hard YES but it takes a little time for it to "click", but when it does it is immensely rewarding. also has one of the best setpiece sequences gaming has seen in a long while.

The latest patches claim to have fixed things somewhat. There's also an user around some of these threads who had a solution, something about the game only ever using like 1 GB of your memory and there was a way to unlock the rest of it. Didn't save the instructions though, maybe someone else did.

Twyre does make the Town call out to you and the herbs in the air make it so that you can feel pain, amongst other things. I didn't happen to me with P2 but there was a period when I'd start playing P1 and just get random headaches in the middle of playing, it was fucking trippy, man. Next level of immersion.

Not really, no. There are benefits from playing the first one (like for example you won't fuck up your first run because you know more or less what to expect in terms of difficulty and where most people are) but it's nothing major. It's a perfectly done remake in spire of having a 2 in the name.

Vlad Jr. was the easy part, that bald gorilla-looking fuck led me right to him just because I followed it on a whim. I got as far as meeting that Dr. something-sky and supposedly identifying the killer, but I guess I couldn't figure out what to do after that.

That was my second attempt, on the HD version which I've heard had a better translation. It certainly helped me get farther than last time.

I did the same, the worm running past felt too odd and sudden I felt it had to be intentional, and if it wasn't I had nothing else I could do since I didn't know where he was anyway. When you check your quest log is their a *** at the last entry? That signifies if you finished it or not.

Well that would explain all the *** under "other tasks." I recently looked it up and found that those were more or less insignificant so now I know what to focus on.
