I think a large part of that stems from how many people seem to think the only issue with FO76 is how buggy it was. This completely glosses over the fact that EVEN IF it were 100% bug-free, the game would still be a steaming pile of garbage because it's just a skinner box of looting, crafting, shooting, looting, crafting, shooting, etc etc etc.

Why are there so few decent mods for FO4? Just looking through nexus at the top files and the categories, there's plenty of stuff like bugfixes and texture replacers and lighting mods and stuff like that, but where the fuck are the gameplay mods? There are a few minor tweaks, but nothing to the level of NV or even FO3. And that's really surprising, considering FO4 is the game that needs it the most.

Suddenly every choice Bethesda has made so far seems golden. While that is a well designed image, and that game would be good for a playthrough, it would be something to play 2-5 times like the classic Fallout games. The original Real Time Settler mod for FO3 was a mistake. If it weren't for that mod, Bethesda would never have gotten the idea of implementing it in their games at all. If you're thirsting for more classic fallout, you should check out Fallout: Of Nevada and Fallout 1.5: Resurrection. One is made by Russians, the other Polish. They're two fully fledged fangames that are translated. Haven't gotten to 1.5 yet but have put a lot of hours into Nevada. It's like if Fallout 1 had a baby with New Vegas, in some regards.

I think NV has the better graphics honestly. It has a style that it sticks to, while 4 tries and fails to look more realistic.

In the base game I only ever saw them for sale at Mic and Ralph's, never out in the wastes. But if you're at the right level you see plenty of them in Honest Hearts, which is really where they fit best, in the hands of drugged out white legs. Who said it was a bad thing? I like it. I always liked the riot shotgun before, but now that I've started using it with slugs as my primary ammo, it's even better. Regular shotgun ammo should always be turned into slugs until you get And Stay Back. I tend to avoid that perk because it's so game breaking, though.

Yes, it's one of the best weapons in the game, and basically broken with shotgun perks. It removes Cazadors like no other with basic buckshot.

Also it's not that "easy" to get. Reaching New Vegas at level 1 requires a thorough knowledge of the map or a good deal of time trying and dying. You need to get past the deathclaws, cazadors and super mutants with good use of the 1 stealth boy you can get at the school. You need to know to go to camp maccaran with an ncr uniform and board the monorail, too. Then you need to find the guard in Gommorah and quietly kill him with a silent weapon, which for me is usually the shovel in VATS mode (vats mode melee damage is doubled but the game doesn't tell you this).

If you're playing with JSawyer like you should be, PA Training is no longer required to use Power Armor. And the unique Super Sledge is up in a cave with Nightstalkers, which aren't impossible to kill at low levels if you take it easy

FOMM is "fine" and was the best back in 2017. But now it's better to use mod organiser 2. Since it uses a virtual file system, it doesn't directly change your game folder. This makes any mistakes consequence free and lets you uninstall even the most complicated mods easily. Very useful for when you want to temporarily uninstall everything to try out a big overhaul mod.

During my last NV TTW playthrough I used console commands to start in front of Doc Mitchell's house, it's not hard to do at all, and it doesn't break much (Only thing it breaks is making Doc Mitchell unable to be talked to)

The only issue with it is you drop the mag first then pull the slide back, unless you're just doing a press check one handed to see if you've got a round loaded.

It's an alright try, though.

You always drop the mag then work the action if you're unloading.

Then do that and start from scratch with TTW when you're done. Installing it over everything else is a guarantee to break everything. Trying to do it backwards the way you're doing now will take twice as long and probably be more unstable in the long run.

Didn’t get sucked in till level 20 or so, took all the noob death routes and made a horrible character build so it was almost a deterrent since I had no idea Where to go.
Probably gotta say it was grinding all of the quests in freeside just to get inside the strip. I butchered the mutual NCR/Kings peace and it ended with the NCR declaring martial law in the kings clubhouse. Thought that was some pretty real harsh shit for some Elvis impersonators

Honestly I've spent more on 4 then 3, primarily because settlement mods are really great, and combat stuff such as sprint, grenade keys, and power armor that makes you feel like a tank are good. Prime comfy with better combat. It's literally just apocalypse Minecraft. It's a subpar Fallout game through and through.

Though the story is a bit better then 3, it's not very sensible. That's why I always use an alternate stsrt mod and usually ignore the main quest.

Just want to spend time settling down with husbando and then go out with my arsenal of modded guns to kill some raiders.

Yeah its been a while since I last played NV and I have trouble remembering the specifics even though he is my favorite companion.
Anyways, point is what he did was wrong. In a moral sense. They were non-combatants. A battle was being fought at that moment and they weren't rushing to kill NCR soldiers and then go slaughter their families. They weren't the raiders themselves.
True they were part of a raiding social order. Or they grew food to sustain those raiders. Or they've given birth to those raiders or they would've grown up to be a raider.
But at that moment they were nothing but people running away from a fight. How can it be good to cause the unnecessary suffering of others?
Boone would never hesitate to end the life of someone who would doubtlessly destroy many others such as a legionnaire but he will be torn up over ending the lives of those who havent yet. Who are only "maybes". Who, unlike a legionnaire, have a family and loved ones.
That's what separates Boone from Colonel Moore and others. He values life. He has empathy even for his enemy.
Of course morality and practicality often butt heads. Practically speaking the Great Khans should be gone and no tears shed over them. But I'd say above all else Boone is a moral man not a practical man. So of course he is guilty over bitter springs.

And to massacre all your opposition without a shred of decency is, in a sense, not "human". It is something more so resembling a machine. Coldly logical. Exploration in FO4 is bad. All the enemies scale to your level, so you never feel liking you are getting stronger, and never feel like you are entering areas with their own wildlife ecology and raider factions. All the loot is randomly generated shit that scales to your level, so you never feel like you are rewarded for exploring a difficult area before you can manage it.
