>tfw nobody but me ever played this game
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Other urls found in this thread:
Haha yeah, surely nobody played one of the best DS games
Nobody did though, there's barely any discussion about it
Bump
>nobody told me it was by the ace attorney team
>play it last year
>one of the best games
its one of those games where it would have been way more successful if it was just an anime, like zero escape.
the fact that it was one long case rather than the phoenix wright scenarios hurt the game too i think, it only got really good towards the tail end
It's always posted as a must-play in DS recommendation threads, but it's true that there aren't many threads about the game itself. It's pretty well-known anyway
Its been brought up in every DS related thread for years now. Still a good game
It's been years since it came out.
It's a self contained story with no sequel in sight.
Spoiling it is a dick move since figuring shit out is half the game.
It's mentioned in every DS / 'detective' / puzzle game that's relevant.
Pick one or more.
inb4 switch port
What’s the anime twist in this one
TWEWY on Switch sucked, so pls no
>Ghost Trick
>Phoenix Wright
>999
>Hotel Dusk
>Trace Memory
>Again
Why did the DS have so many good detective game lads
>Hotel Dusk
Was it really THAT good?
Haha epic thread.
I heard the iOS port of Ghost Trick was pretty good, and the entire game's design isn't centered on the dual screen like TWEWY was.
Because it was shaped like a book
Maybe, but the sequel was better.
There was just something magical about the DS. Maybe it was the touchscreen and microphone that let devs make cool puzzles. Maybe it was the low dev cost. Whatever it was, I'll surely miss all those comfy DS detective titles
yea????? it was!
have you not played it?
Max comfy and fun ost. Play the sequel too and weep that Nintendo will shelf this game forever since the developer went under.
The game also had an indirect sequel on 3ds but it sucked. So again, nobody bought it.
How the FUCK do you do the music box puzzle in the sequel on an emulator?
>have you not played it?
Unfortunately no, not yet. You and the user below you already convinced me, though
>Whatever it was, I'll surely miss all those comfy DS detective titles
I miss everything about it. The DS was just such a great console
>like zero escape
hmm what? they made an anime adaptation?
This doesn't have to do with Ghost Trick specifically, but I'm sure plenty of people who have played Ghost Trick would know, I've been playing Ace Attorney and while I've been enjoying them so far, do they ever improve the failure system? I'm only on Justice for All, but when you fail a case and you have to go back and just sit through the same dialogue again and you can't even fast forward through it, it really drags the whole thing down and is easily the worst part of the series so far. Is it changed in later games?
kek
i don't know i havent got around to the sequel yet
The 3ds games made it so trials have pretty generous checkpoints, you can savescum mid trial in the early games though
I don’t know I played the original.
What was the puzzle about?
No. It doesn’t. I played with a walkthrough, but I only looked up the answers if I got stuck.
for me it's Missile
It has the best dog in video game history
You have to slide a key out of a music box, but you have to had to hold R and close the DS slightly when the drum exposes a gap
That reminds me, how does Phantom Hourglass play in emulators? There's one part that requires you to physically close the DS after all
Literally because of Ace Attorney, every one of these contains some Ace Attorney inspired elements. Creator of Professor Layton is such a huge fan he sends creator of Ace Attorney copy of every Professor Layton.
I think he means something like Zero Escape would've been more successful if it was an anime
But I loved it
theres a short OVA for VLR, im saying the story as a whole would probably would be better as a anime than visual novel
a netflix styled choose your own adventure Zero Escape would be fucking RAD
There should be an option within the emulator to put it in the "physically closed" state.
If not you're fucked and should change your emulator immediately
How did they make the animations so SMOOTH?
Factually inaccurate.
I'm pretty sure there's a feature on desmume that let's you do that
The fuck are you talking about? It's always highly praised whenever it's brought up and always mentioned in generic ds game threads.
3d animation flattened into sprites
all of Yea Forums has played ghost trick multiple times because it's a genuinely good game that got passed around early on
stop typing like this cringelord
If a modern indie game had this exact same artstyle and animation nu-Yea Forums would shit on it
haha nice
Hey how come Sissel is able to understand human speech?
It's one of the best games ever made. The way it is combines narrative and gameplay is just insane.
I played it it was okay
>I've been playing Ace Attorney and while I've been enjoying them so far, do they ever improve the failure system? I'm only on Justice for All, but when you fail a case and you have to go back and just sit through the same dialogue again and you can't even fast forward through it, it really drags the whole thing down and is easily the worst part of the series so far. you know you can save and load at any time? I think it was start button where you can save and there was option to go back to title screen and reload save. yeah it sounds like save scumming but really it makes no real difference, and is a lot less tedious as you dont have to go though same dialogue and choices all over again, just try not to brute force.
Best plot twist of all time. If you never played it, go for it and stop reading this thread right NOW.
Best story I played on the DS
>YFW Sissel catches you and stares through your soul
youtube.com
One of the only times Yea Forums was right about a game
i never understood why ace attorney has so many games and ghost trick never became a series. no disrespect to AA but ghost trick actually has gameplay...
it's true, ghost trick ios is just fine. would do great on switch
Doesn't Dead Cells use the exact same animation technique?
AA has gameplay too, motherfucker. Besides, they’re visual novels.
If I could get a link to an already-configured emulator and the game along with it, all in a conveniently prepared .rar file I'd play it.
epic !
>expecting this much spoonfeeding
Just run a rom in desmume, chucklefuck
What a great moment. I was genuinely unsettled seeing it for the first time
I saw you could do that, but I thought it was like one of those saves you can do in Etrian Odyssey where it deletes itself once you load the save and it's just there so that you don't have to wait for a save point if you have to stop playing. I'll keep it in mind in the future at least.
I still remember when I finished the puzzle where you give the minister his pills and when he did the "heeEEEm DADADA" I lost my shit
Worth noting that the intentionally flat coloring is a bonus for this kind of thing, where normally it's a detriment, so that's kind of cool.
There's no discussion because everyone agrees the game is god-tier and then the thread ends
