Released in an era where Final Fantasy was going full retard and a mainline DQ game was coming out on a weak as fuck DS. People were thirsty for a decent JRPG.

All of the good parts of Persona 3 but more fun, less sad, and with a lot more wish fulfillment. What's there not to like?

I only played it the last year and it was still amazing. The game blew my mind and got me hooked on JRPG's again.

It's a B-Grade seasonal anime except it's playable. The novelty of that is the sole thing that keeps this series popular.

I think he’s trying to say normalfags like it because the game tries to come off as something else. It is true to an extent.

Not him, but "disguised" is the operative word. People don't notice it's waifushit wish fulfillment because the social links are somewhat grounded and the characters don't rip their clothes off and fuck you. The english dub helps, a lot of people sincerely associate japanese girls with pedobait/weeb shit.

That's exactly what makes it B-Grade. It's passable and not bad, but in no way outstanding. Personally, I think the problem in Persona is that they dedicate so much time to this story through hours upon hours cutscenes despite that story being nothing to write home about. This is a personal thing, but I feel as though a game story has to be exceptional to warrant that many cutscenes.
