Not in my area. I don't know if it's a generational thing or if after it had a resurgence from Jackass days they did stuff to keep kids from ever skating around local businesses. The only 'extreme sport' that has a lot of numbers behind it still that I notice is motorcross if you count people that don't actually race but just go to tracks to have fun and do trailing.

It seems to be making a bit of a comeback now that people are more into fitness and that skaters have finally realized they can post their shit on social media in smaller bursters, rather than making a fucking tape.
I can bet there will be another, new skating franchise in years to come (maybe that "Session" game that nobody knows anything about), but a big reason they died out is because they were oversaturated and underdeveloped thanks to EA demanding a new one every single year, and because Neversoft moved on/shut down.
I would kill for a HD remake of THUG with all the best levels from the series as a whole, headed by ex-Neversoft employees though. Don't change a god damn thing about the mechanics or cutscenes or level lay outs, just make the graphics prettier and add in more custom options and multiplayer modes. I'd buy five copies.

Wasteland was good, even in spite of it's silly 'no loading' gimmick. Every area was distinct from the rest as they should be, so you wanted to choose between them, and you did - by riding the bus to teleport between them, which required loading after all. Actually going between them was boring because they were all seperated by enormous, boring hallways to mask the loading times that were happening anyway behind the scenes. I don't know why they felt the need for the gimmick at all, there wasn't a problem to fix.

The worst shit is that, unlike Steve-O, Bam keeps trying to run social media accounts, so you get to see him relapse over and over again while all these parasitic enablers surround him, and he spends his time actively doing shit that isn't skating and isn't Jackass.
He went on this scuzzy tell-all tour where he basically told everyone about a time he was raped as a funny story, and everyone around him just goes "wow, that's fucking WILD Bam lol". Last year (or maybe the year before) he vanished off to Spain to get his life together and it seems to have worked for a few months before he came back to America and fucked it all up again.
