Estival is widely considered the worst.
If you're new to the series I'd recommend starting with Burst: Renewal

From what I heard, the next game will be more serious and less fanservice. Here's hoping Homura and the squad get proper treatment.

But it looks like a really shitty pinball game.

Combat is slower and the plot is dumb. Burst has actual lore and character development that matters.

They slowed down the gameplay for multiplayer, which no one uses, making slower, heavier hitting characters useless.
Ninja art damage is reduced and enemies have hyper armor so the most effective way of fighting them is to hit once or twice, run away, repeat.
I'd seriously recommend it for last if you end up liking the series and want to play it for story completion sake.

Burst is the best of the mainlines, Shinovi's the best of the musous and even though the soundtrack is ridiculously uneven I enjoyed Bon Appetit enough to get the platinum.

It'd be quicker to say what Estival has over Shinovi.
The only silver lining with EV is that there are areas on some stages that trigger special animations if you defeat an enemy near them.
Shinovi does everything else better.

SV is a lot faster to beat through the mooks so you can get to the fun part of battling actual ninjas. The girls move much faster and deal more damage, while that's slowed down in EV, and I've noticed a significant drag on damage. While I do like that the characters feel more unique in EV, it then turns into loathing when you have to bash away at the generic enemies for another 5 minutes before anything actually fun can happen.

EV is okay at best and more often than not it's just frustrating. They basically tried to balance for a multiplayer that died within a couple weeks and because of that they ruined the okay gameplay of SV instead. It's even more frustrating early on in the game because until you're like level 25 you feel like you're dealing chip damage to enemies even on Easy.

I bought it on my trip to Tokyo for Christmas. God I want to go back. The girls there were just like the cover of this game.

Considering it's for consoles and considering how fast paced it was I'd argue it was probably needed just to keep TTK within a reasonable amount of time. They really only needed to get rid of the invincibility shields when you drop someone by half health and it would have been fine. My only problem besides that is how the card system works, that nonsense is rigged and obscenely expensive for packs. I spent a good six or seven hours grinding Zenny to at least get a full set of Crimson cards and I still ended up missing like 30 of them. I don't get why they didn't guarantee a new one with each pack.

you can easily grind packs, I forgot how though since I havent played it in a long time, but there are ways to grind them fast.

It's shit, I wished we got Peach Beach Splash on Switch so we could play online 4 vs 4

The fastest you can grind them is the final tournament which takes three minutes to clear. Yeah, you can AFK by just giving every girl gatlings and a deck full of bubble shields which they spam to infinity, but you only end up getting either 3 or 5 packs out of the ordeal and you're basically only guaranteed a gold per pack. Trust me, I went through hundreds of packs and still have a huge chunk of cards missing in the Crimson set which is what I was aiming for specifically. After about 8 or 10 hours of grinding in total I called it quits because I was simply getting nowhere and after 50 packs in a row of repeats I stopped.

Don't know if there's a better way, but I remember doing the boss battles to grind for packs with at least one guaranted 5 star plus money, Hanzo's in particular was pretty fast. I think the last cup of of the V-Road Challenge gives out a lot of money too.

That's what you grind. Gatlings or assault rifles + bubble shields and you can literally just sit in a corner of the map until the game is over without lifting a finger. Here was me doing a bunch of draws back when I was going for all the Miyabi cards. I only needed one more 3* and one 4* and never got them.

Story mode is whatever girl you selected going around and reversing the changes to the other girls, then she reverts to animal form for the final level. Play Free Mode afterwards to unlock different cosmetic items. Story mode challenges only unlock diorama parts based on the stages.

You're stupid, that opinion only holds when it comes to the main games with a single story, but for these two spinoffs with individual stories that are 100% stupid fanservice similar to Bon Appetit, and in a series that sells mainly on the girls, having every one of them or at lest the majority should've been priority.

Both SK2 and SV are good. Bon Appetit isn't exactly a great rhythm game, but if you end up liking the girls it might be serviceable. Think about getting those on PC though, they are still the same on Vita, but the pc port comes with all dlc.

I started doing that after the first few missions on EV, and in PBS it was a priority since everyone just had that white bikini as a default. Wish the games had a better starting selection though, and more casuals outfits too, had to wait for the mobile game for them to start putting more casual looking clothes.

Recent games usually have a setting to have default clothes during the cutscenes. So I usually change them since it only applies in combat.
I can't recall if that was the case for PBS but, that was the one time I changed everyone, because the default was eveyone in a plain white bikini.

Did it in the first game I played like this (Valkyrie Drive Bhikkhuni) really heavily. I was so proud of some of them. I wish I had take screenshots. I barely made any changes in Burst Renewal. One of the biggest problems with Burst Renewal, in terms of clothing, is how they locked the best outfits behind the 41-chapter story lines. When you beat them, it unlocks like 5-10 outfits instantly that were unlocked at the beginning of other games. So you couldn't dress your girls the way you wanted. PBS is my favorite SK, though I don't normally admit that because the hardcore SK fans think it's an atrocity. I personally think it was the most fun. After that, I'd say SV.

Depends on who your senran is. The gameplay is whatever. Not the best but surprisingly fun.

NewWave has been around for a long time, but most characters from it never made it out outside of some cameos. The only ones that managed to get out as playable are Ayame (who was already in SV as the shop clerk), Leo, Yuyaki, Souji and Bashou, and those are in New Link too.

It's a light hearted and silly story x 5, coupled with a pretty boring pinball game.
But as far as goodbyes to this series goes, it ain't bad I suppose. There will never be New Link in english, and there's never going to be another Senran game.
It's past its time, it can't bring back the old popularity of SV and EV, and there's no incentive to make the gacha anything other than an extremely flimsy excuse to throw money at .pngs

I'll say it. I played my first SK game 5 years ago, and played all the rest of them except Peach Ball. And I think it's a "doorway" franchise. It's not bad, as such, but it leads to games that are much better. It's like the tutorial version of anime tiddie games. That really hit home after play Burst Renewal after having played games that had bigger budgets and more sexual content. SK is the weed of video games. It's where the lazy people stop. But the ones truly committed to anime tiddies move on, regardless of difficult installations, shady websites, and machine translations.

Not that user, but the story in new link is pretty different compared to the anime, and the original characters from it are all very different in personality too.
Just to point out some differences, Fubuki wasn't raised by Kurokage and was kind of Yumi's sister, instead, she was a graduated Gessen student that was thought to be killed in action. She still is half Yoma there, but her motivation and plan were totally different.
