Yeah if you force quit the fame and relogin it skips them. But you can be banned for it so check to see if there are any sprouts or first timers.

Super easy as pld with healer chocobo and you can aoe most fates with no issues. Takes longer as dps since you can only grab so much

The tables list exp and leves needed assuming you turn in leves and do literally nothing else. If you're using those manuals, squadron buffs, and making sure to make your own HQ mats and crafts, it cuts down on leves needed by a ton.

In learning parties you'll just go until somebody gets tired, usually after 3 or so pulls. In a clearing party you go until you can vote abandon if you wipe. Nobody generally says anything bad about anybody else but people will admit when they've made a mistake or just all around don't understand what's happening and some other people then become willing to explain and work together to improve.

I'll admit that even despite my latency the thought alone of returning to an english speaking datacenter is just the furthest thing from my mind.

Depends. PLD has more straightfoward abilities and is generally pretty solid. It's also the only tank class with no bullshit tied to it's invul skill aside from a longer CD. You can also carry bad healers with Clemency if you have to.

I'm not sure if it's because it's a lot more noticeable/stroke inducing/infuriating, or if it's the influx of scrubs playing tank for the first time, but it feels like they're FAR more likely to panic and pop their invuln even when they should know full well that I've got a fuckload of cooldowns up my sleeve, like right at the start of a dungeon. They also seem a lot more likely to commit the obvious mitigation mistakes of either not using anything, using everything at once, or only using anything at all when they're at 5% health.

Back when I was in Aether people would plant dummy markers around the starting area and people stand/in around it to claim their mechanic spots

I haven't made much progress but that's because I'm multitasking leveling DoH/DoL to 80 at the same time. I've used queueing for dungeons to level so I can use that downtime to gather/craft and the gear you get in dungeons I turn in for cordials to help me gather more things faster for when I'm waiting in queue. I'm using daily roulettes to make the jump from 70 to 71 on each job so that I can simply spam ShB dungeons to 80 once I'm ready to commit to that fully.

I only had BRD, RDM, and WAR leveled during SB. Would like to use this expansion to actually get the rest of my jobs leveled but don't want to burn out, so I'm trying to go wide instead of deep.

Since it's just set it and forget it instead of something you need to actively switch between I'll often fail to realize that it's off for the first pull of a level synched dungeon until I see that all the mobs I pulled are running a train on the WHM.

Put down 1 and everyone stands in the 8 positions around it

It's better because everybody can visibly see who's doing what and that everyone knows what they're doing. Everyone can easily see if two people accidentally claimed the same thing instead of parsing a chat log.
This is fight specific but it's often better to handle tingle tethers with a set dependent on whatever comp you have, so a macro that ties them to your water spots isn't good for that.

For the sake of visual parity in our current EX's you can use numbers to help influence orders.
For the sake of DC parity everybody typically uses the same macro. In this case stack west and east and rotate clockwise. 1 and 2 left 3 and 4 right.

This parity makes it easy for somebody to understand what to do and what positions to take based on a single number as opposed to making an adjusted rotational order every fight. Especially in a pug.

But given I've frankly only ever known one way, I can't make an honest assessment of your methods actual efficiency.

At the very least. There's never been a problem ever with somebody not understanding the instruction or being afraid to voice when they do and as a result almost all clearing and learning parties come down to player performance rather than instructional clarity strengthened by a consistency that's DC wide.

It's literally the same thing, and it takes about the same amount of time. You put down a marker, everyone stands in their place, maybe some people trade because positionals or whatever. Instead of calling places with numbers on a macro you call places by standing around a marker. I find that people actually get some added benefit from standing there and being able to easily visualize where they'll be in relation to others in the fight as opposed to saying "you're going east/this position", they'll know for example that "I'm going over here, and I'll see the tank to the right of me and the ninja to the left of me if I did it right".

I don't think it is. For visual recognition you can use numbers on players. Which by far stand out over somebody trying to distinguish between two lalafell which one is which.

The second is that the existence of a macro at all makes players comfortable in there turn order because 13 left 24 right has been the law of the land in mechanics that accept them since ARR.
Lastly is instructional clarity. The value of being able to take something like halicarnassus/ex-death and spit it out with easy steps that fit neatly into 15 lines has value

But again I've only known the one way. And it never fails so I've never need another. I don't think there's value of trying to break the mold that sees most of its first timers through their clear. I wouldn't presume to do something so obtuse like claim the inferiority of a method that I've got no exposure to.

Anyhow, with how dungeons are, you might not be able to pull wall to wall if you're a bit undergeared, which you might be since you boosted, but after that (if your gear is equal to or greater than the ilvl that the dungeon drops you should be good) it should be doable with maybe a bit of sweat from the healer if you keep your mitigation going well. Don't stack all your mitigation, don't wait until you're about to die to pop it either, stagger them throughout the pull. Save abyssal drain for when your cooldowns run out and the healer needs some help keeping you up. Also, The Blackest Night is fucking great mitigation and you should literally be hitting it as soon as it comes off cooldown when tanking mob packs.

direct hit, if you kill things faster the healer won't have to heal as much

Levels are best for gatherers. Scrips are tomestones for gatherers/crafters. You get them by turning in collectibles. They’re basically just unsellable stuff so people have to actually gather them instead of buying their way to endgame. Collectible gathering is super easy though

I wasn't talking so much about living dead (though it won't hurt to smack it if you get worried), but rotating stuff like rampart, shadow wall, dark mind (for the like five mobs in the expac dungeons that do magic damage), and TBN. For example, rampart is 20 seconds, so you can open with that and TBN, after rampart runs out you pop another TBN, after that gets broken you hit shadow wall, then TBN as shadow wall runs out, then smack abyssal drain to help the healer keep you topped off, then hit TBN off cooldown until everything's dead.

There's also the fun bit of adjusting to the toolsets each healer has (a good WHM will stunlock the fuck out of everything for the first 15 seconds or so of the pull, potentially cucking you out of a bunch of mitigation if you pop it out of habit, a scholar will throw excog on you and let you take damage so it pops and use ogcd heals while spamming AOEs, and astrologians will try their best), but that'll mostly come with experience.

It's an extremely forgiving game for those with little time to grind. A common complaint is that there isn't enough to grind for, actually. Once you get a job up to max level all it takes to stay current is maybe a couple hours of gameplay a week.

I had a PLD on Mt Gulg the other day, tank refused to pull more than one pack at the time. While we gently asked him to pull more, he asked us to not ask him again or he will have a headache, regardless a DPS kept pulling more to the tank and this tank stopped doing anything to type how anxious we were making him and he was "literally shaking".
While I never let him die, noticed this guy was not using a single cooldown (rampart, sentinel, hallowed ground, etc..) and I would assume this is why he has "anxiety" because those 'netflix healers' let him die

The part where Graha claimed he was going to some other world makes a lot more sense when you realize how he actually feels about the WoL. He feels guilty as fuck but also reveres the WoL. If you weren't a raging autist and understood subtext and emotions, you'd understand that G'raha was desperate to protect the legacy of the WoL. Characters are ostensibly presented as "people", and people generally aren't cold and calculated robots, let alone an emotional catboy with a massive rager for the WoL.

he obviously didn't want anyone to be heartbroken about his sacrifice, so he'd play the part of the villain who 'stole' the power and fucked off to parts unknown so he could spare everyone a lot of grief, he told urianger to give everyone his count of history as a 'vision' so they wouldn't suspect he was from their world and who he was, hopefully making him less sympathetic when it came to his 'betrayal', urianger, ever the pragmatist, kept with it to keep everyone on task

XIV's lore gets heavy oversight due to being tied to an mmo on top of ARR being very meh on a surface level. Heavy drug usage in Ul'dah, massive sex/slave trade in La Noscea, racism of the Shroud, all ignored because side quests, FATEs and none of it particularly being seen in the MSQ.

Remember to alternate between the shots as soon as you fire the heatblast so you don't miss out on a heatblast or overcharge the charges on your shots.
Once you get the hang of it it'll feel like the "right" thing to do.
Oh, and if you run out of overheat as your wildfire is on 1-2 seconds, use any weapon ability to squeeze out that last 200 potency for it. But this is only important if you are using wildfire, otherwise, just alternate and return to rotations when it ends.

Just try not to get too focused on your overheat rotations and weaves so you completely forget about boss mechanics that might complicate things or outright kill you or others.
