It's not the same situation. Switch has the latest game in the series and is going to have the next one, the gap between them and the first two games is large enough that many people wouldn't have played them and they can get HD remasters (which 2 lacks entirely). Joy-cons would also still let them keep the same control scheme. It just makes sense.
