The Riddle of Fire slowdown is still there, but you lost almost all the oGCDs you would use the slowdown to weave in.
Chakra are still RNG, but now you don't have IR to mitigate the RNG.
And just like in SB, their new skills are two situational skills and a downtime skill, meaning you are still using the same skills that you have been using for years for your core rotation.

The only way you’re going to find real parity between MNK and DRG is if you remove Mantra from the game because otherwise you’re going to be taxed for that one way or another. It’s not all about DPS. If they were both balanced 1:1 for DPS then MNK would just be objectively superior for having something defensive on top. Accept that DRG gets to be on the same pDPS tier now.

SAM doesnt deserve BLM numbers but it's still second strongest DPS, I dont see the issue just because the best SAM doesnt play as well with a partner and eye and brotherhood as the best MNK. This is also taking into account mechanic RNG for their uploads, if they got sword tethers at all, if their vines let them keep uptime on the third add, if titania did the donut aoe after adds, etc

New Sam player, couple of questions:
When I'm spamming AoE in dungeons is it better to dump kenki using kaiten tenka goken or but dumping with kyuten instead?
Also should I use kaiten with higanbana or is it exclusively for midare setsugekka?
Any other tips that aren't immediately obvious would be appreciated.

Tenka doesn't have fall off anymore so priority for kenki dump during aoe will always be Guren > Kaiten Tenka > Kyuuten.

It's only ever a good idea on paper, in practicality it's always shit. M+ in WoW just scales up and up until you're forced to use meta only classes since some healers don't have the same kind of DR as others and they literally can't survive a boss AoE attack but some other healer would have instead. It's so imbalanced it isn't fun at all.

The problem with M+ for ffxiv is that I really dont think boss mechanics will be hardly affected by scaling difficulty. It just means youll get one shot if u dont do a mechanic properly. WoW had things like managing interrupts to make sure the boss' throughput damage wasnt so overwhelming, aoes that dont give u 10 years to dodge and you have to actually react instantly, actual mob mechanics that arent just dodge aoe or look away.

Mantra is useless outside of prog and it's even more useless now that healers are better at healing. Eye works on anyone and boosts personal damage by 10%, brotherhood doesnt work on range, casters, and healers, and only boosts personal damage by 5%. MNK has nothing on the same tier as litany

Many bosses have a spell that just does a chunk of AoE damage to make sure the healer is awake. Eventually that attack will scale so high it kill anyone who isn't using a DR spell or trinket.
Think of Tycoon or Queltzacoatl, both of them just radiate a pulse of damage every minute or so that can't be interrupted or avoided.
That's the problem.

All of AST's oGCD healing cooldowns don't justify their length apart from Neutral Sect and Horoscope. Be it range, potency or just general use. I didn't realise they bump Synastry CD up to 2 mins as well.

To be fair, AST had been getting nothing but buffs on top of buffs since 3.1, culminating in them being in various states of overpowered during 3.5 and 4.5. It was about time that they finally got neutralized.

Not him and Flash was dumb, but it's kind of the same thing as what happened to enmity in general. It wasn't a challenge, and it won't really be missed, but the combat in this game is so dull that any little nuance makes it more exciting. It's like if they removed positionals melee would probably beat themselves raw, but at the same time it would be one less thing they have to worry about in combat.

It helps your situational awareness. Especially in newer content they really like filling every spot on the arena floor except one corner with stuff you don't have to stand in, so getting to it faster is good.
