Contrary to what you've said, I'd argue Vanillite line has plenty of thought put into its design. It has a very natural and satisfying progression from Small-Cone to Single-Cone to Double-Cone, and there's even plenty of personality put into what is a pretty simple concept with Vanilluxe by adding the little ice-wafer that it uses to expel vapour.

That's false. 'ggute is the same myth.

Not the same guy, but it technically was. No, Sugimori did not create every single Pokemon, but he was responsible for amending the designs and unifying them under a single style through his official art - any difference between a Pokemon's official design and its original RG sprite is because Sugimori decided to change it. Even things like Pokemon colors were largely left to him. That includes stuff like the triangular Gen 1 eyes: Charizard and Rhydon both have similar eyes, yet they were designed by different people, and if you compare their RG eyes, they're not that similar at all, and don't really look like Sugimori's angular eyes either. The only reason they look the same is because the same designer redid their eyes in the same way, as he did with many Gen 1 Pokemon. The reason their eyes are similar is absolutely because it was the same artist.
