Be honest Yea Forums, is this one of your favorite games?
Be honest Yea Forums, is this one of your favorite games?
I have never denied it
ye
I've never even finished it.
I enjoyed it, was pretty fun. Not sure why I'd ever be dishonest about it.
I only managed to beat it because Zevran was just as uninterested in the story as I was.
Well yes, it's a really good game
It is, and that is not likely to ever change. Once you worm your way into my heart you get to stay there.
Yea it's a great RPG not sure about favorite game in general.
As far as I remember Yea Forums always liked this game so I don't know why you are asking to be honest.
I always found it mediocre honestly, Jade Empire, Mass Effect & KOTOR were far more enjoyable
Nah i've seen tons of people hate it for being "Baldur's Gate for brainlet zoomers"
Nah, but i still like it. Unlike most faggots here, i enjoyed the fade and even the deep roads.
I also enjoyed these things.
There's so much contrarianism & ironic shitposting on Yea Forums that it's impossible to figure out what Yea Forums actually likes. Only game i don't see people normally talk shit about is Shadow of The Colossus
Was pretty good. Hasn't aged great. Everyone shits on The Fade section of the game because they're a bunch of room temperature retards, the fade is actually the best part of the game because of all the stat boosts you get. Its sort of tedious yeah, but it's nothing compared to the deep roads, the actual worst part of the game.
I only recently got it, after sitting on my "to get" list for ages, and I'm having fun with it.
The camera is a bit janky, not really liking the "real time" aspect of fighting, but the character interactions are pretty darn good.
The descent into the Deep Roads is my favorite part of the game. After coming back to the surface and you are back to the usual trivial matters you feel fucking invincible because you've been through hell and came back stronger than ever.
The fade is great for a different reason. You are alone your party taken away from you and you are trapped there. It's unlike the rest of the game that section which is needed to break away the routine by that point in the game.
I haven't found an RPG that scratches the itch since it's the last real one
What makes it more real than newer ones
>it's the last real one
last real western rpg you mean?
divinity, witcher, kcd are also good but can't match the world building, characters and story of dao
Seeing how your party reacted to the Fade in different ways was great. Sten knew right away it was all bullshit.
Not favorite, but really good.
Arcane Warrior bros for lyfe.
It feels like its choices are real rather than illusion of choice you get from modern RPGs, you can kill or kick out every party member except Alistair I think. Bioware games after it feel different.
Arcane warrior is too broken, I just play as a rogue and oneshot things with my bow instead.
One of my favorite western RPG games.
Dragon Age Origins, Witcher 1, Gothic 1+2 and Morrowind.
These are my "must plays" for any enthusiast.
You can get rid of Alistair too if you choose to spare Loghain and he hasn't been hardened.
I do this every time because fuck Alistair, Loghain is my nigga. He knows about Orlais.
Big choices are always illusions
It is my favorite game of the series. The Dragon Age series is objectively 1 > 2 > 3.
I still haven't played Gothic.
1>piss>3>shit>2
it's pretty boring desu.
Really? Witcher 1?
I mean, I liked it, as a sort of game to play while watching TV shows, but nothing of note happens until the final chapter, character progression caps out super early, it's fairly simple even on Hard. The whole potion system ends up being a farce outside of simple damage boosters and heals.
I would at least put Arcanum, Fallout, Ultima 6/7/Wizardry 7, or Icewind Dale/Baldur's Gate above it in terms of being essential western RPGs.
It's tactical and dialog heavy not an ADD kinda game
You can just walk away from redcliffe and everyone dies and goes zombie, you have a decent impact wherever you go. Any small choice you make could have something to follow up later you just never know.
No, but it's the last decent game Bioware made.
Beat it twice including the time my character fucked Morrigan as a Dwarf. Not even sure what that would lead to.
Well you are clearly an american, no?
The games you mentioned are closely related to DnD mechanics. It's as if they are all 'related'. But west doesn't equal the US.
>it's fairly simple even on Hard.
dunno about that. The difference between normal and harder difficulty is that you need potions on harder difficulties. Which the game also tells you. And that really delivers on the atmosphere of being a witcher much better.
Stopped at deep roads. The battles were becoming too repetitive and it just didn’t feel worth it anymore.
The endgame in Denerim is pretty good you just gotta tough it out in the deep roads to get there
Top 5 all time for sure
Deep Roads and Orzammar offer some of the most intriguing decisions though.
>Harrowmont or Bhelen (Bhelen)
>Use the Anvil or destroy it (use it)
Those decisions have gotten a lot of arguments started, unlike a lot of the others that make no sense
>do you help break the curse or do you help the werewolves kill all the elves
>do you get a pinch of the sacred ashes or do you DEFILE THE ASHES LOL
>do you help the mages or do you let the templars kill them all
Every other section has a binary "here's the right choice and here's the wrong choice" but with the dwarves you have to actually think about things.
pretty good game. its bioware's swan song or maybe its mass effect 2 depending on who you ask, either way it was the end of an era.
>Well you are clearly an american, no?
No. Not even remotely. Although you are clearly ESL, so I'll not bother continuing this.
And that's a weak argument. I didn't pick out the Witcher as being "foreign", Gothic gets to sit on that list as being "Ultima IX but good", I picked on it for being rather simple and ultimately underwhelming. Nevertheless, you don't understand me nearly enough for a coherent conversation about this, so that's that.
You can get templars without killing mages, after saving mages just tell templars it might be a mistake to trust them yet or something
The things you can do and the interactions you can have in this game are fucking insane.
I had a Dwarf Noble Rogue
>played solo throughout the entire game
>stealth,poison,traps,backstabs
>didn't recruit a single companion not even the dog
>returned to Orzammar briefly to deal with Bhelen
>I wasn't going to kill him because he is an Aeducan but he went too far with his political games that little fanatic completely lost his mind
>spared Loghain just because Alistair sperged out like an emotional bitch in front of me
>ordered Loghain to kill the defeated archdemon
>went back to Orzammar "blight" defeated just another day at the office for an Aeducan
>turns out this was a big deal for surfacers
No, it's fucking shit. Only zoomers think that it's a good game, let alone a good RPG.
The gameplay is awful and bare bones, the graphics are horrible, the characters are awful and annoying, and its world building is just stupid twist on the generic. Absolute shit game and the fact so many people on Yea Forums enjoy baffles me
Indeed. It's still better than the average weeaboo faggotry that retards here love so much.
Here come the 'mah baldurs gate was better' boomers
you had your chance already imho.
>And that's a weak argument. I didn't pick out the Witcher as being "foreign",
No. My argument was, that DnD style games are less popular in Europe. Especially eastern european countries. This is a well known fact among RPG fans. Different cultures and such.
And you're arguing with a poor interpretation again.
Conversation over, buddy. Not wasting my time.
downloaded it for free on origin several years ago. played it for like 30 minutes and dropped it out of boredom. which is weird because I fucking love CRPGs and have played the entire Fallout and Baldur's Gate series to completion at least half a dozen times each through the years. also played and finished every Neverwinter Nights game and DLC, Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2, etc. Just couldn't get into Dragon Age for some reason.
shrug.
It was better tho
all classes are broken
every single class is able to obtain immortality while doing immense damage
not that anyone would wanted to talk to you anyways lol!
Doesn't sound like you played long enough to even finish an origin you should give it another go
no. I've finished it 2-3 times but I've never really felt anything strong from it or strong about it like I do from games I consider favorite.
Yes but top 20 at best propably
No. It was a good game but not even close to good enough to be considered a favourite.
Hey fellas real talk
are they going to do dragon age 4
They....*want* to. I don't know if they'll be able to, especially now.
>bro just stick with it, the game gets really good after 10 hours of utter boredom!
This is a sign of bad design.
who is even left at bioware that could make it?
you have the old republic staff and everyone else is devoted to anthem.
if you know how to min max your party and tactics then yea
playing on hard/nightmare as a warrior it's rough especially if you going for the no deaths achievement. there's this overwhelm ability some mobs have in the game that's insufferable and the mages with curse of mortality.
It's a 50 hour crpg with half hour long dialog sessions so you're not going to be excited all the time
The only hard part is the beginning and ostagar I find for warriors
Who? You mean Bioware now?
They don't have the team to deliver a great RPG
They lost Mike Laidlaw who was the most competent guy there working on Dragon Age and many other devs
They use Frostbite now and have major problems with that engine internally
SJW influence even in top positions at the studio
It's almost impossible to see Bioware coming back from the mess they are in right now. Probably have to fire a lot of useless people and change the studio culture back to an RPG den full of nerds and neckbeards.
same, got bored
who else did I mean
Yes it is, right behind Morrowind.
I enjoy playing as a Dalish elf and have practically played every other in the series solely so I could play elves and see how much I could fuck over humans.
If I won't be able to re-establish Dales or Arlathan and put Orlesian heads on spikes in the incoming game I will be really dissapointed.
>Be honest Yea Forums, is this one of your favorite games?
yes its one of my favorite game. when i first got it i started a human rogue playthrough but the camera was zoomed all the way out and i thought it was some kind of shit isometric game so i dropped it. gave it another try later and realised you can zoom the camera out. after getting into it i really liked it as well as awakening.
Now imagine working at Bioware in 2019 after Andromeda and Anthem
mediocre
what
hello
Honestly, I enjoyed this game, but I think I enjoyed it more because it took the best of a Song of Ice and Fire and ran with it. This game was written and in development before A Feast For Crows came out, so it took material only from what's considered the best three books of the series.
While watching it spiral downward with DA2 was sad, it was also kind of expected when I heard they were doing their own thing. It turns out that Bioware writers aren't as good as GRRM. Who knew?
Deep Roads is also worth it because you get to cuck Bhelen at the end.
Yes, 100%.
>KOtoR I & II.
>Dragon Age: Origins
>Witcher II & III
>Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines
Unironically best RPGs ever made.
Some of the other crpgs you mentioned start way way slower than DA:O so you sound like you are full of BS
Ever play a Dwarf Noble, side with Bhelen all the way through except at the end give the crown the Harrowmont?
I have, actually. Bhelen's reaction is more or less "called it." The one that really pisses him off is if you do it as a Dwarf Commoner.
2.
PATROLLED
5. Have sex
Some sweaty neckbeard worked for months maybe years on this character and I told her to fuck off once we reached Lothering.
I didn't need a mage especially not a naked wild chick who would have attracted too much unnecessary attention.Being a Rogue you have to make compromises.
Trying to, bro
>Alistair is the most closeted faggot character ever and he craves Duncan's cock and constantly cries about it
>Morrigan disapproves because that's how sexually challenged David Gaider sees every relationship with every woman in his life
>Leliana sings while she should be keeping her dumb mouth shut
>Oghren is an alcoholic dwarf, that's a concept never before seen in fantasy
>Sten is just a plain cunt and leaving him to rot in his cage would rid me of his horrible dialogue choices that could never be explained through Hegelian dialectic
>Wynne needs to die to make this game less insufferable
>Zevran is just a plain faggot, wow so progressive such character depth
>Shale actually costs money if you bought this piece of shit at the release
>and the only dog is just a dog which makes him mediocre, congrats bioware
Let me also add
>shit single player MMO gameplay mechanics
>clunky mechanics in combat which is mostly shit btw
>absolutely abysmal writing across the board
>terrible and uninspiring story
>useless tactics
>horrible path finding gets party stuck in an open field with a single fucking rock
>the worst level and dungeon design I have ever fucking seen in any RPG since the days of Amiga 500
>and while speaking of Amiga 500, the graphics of DAO looks like something you could run with 512KB of RAM because it's all brown and shit everywhere
>shit visual design
>shit engine and technology
So, why did I play it? All the way to end? I just wanted to see how full of shit you actually are Yea Forums. Jesus Christ you people are irredeemably retarded. How do you allow yourself to play shit like this, love it and make countless threads about it? How do you fucking live with yourselves? Are you just fucking BioWare shills? I sure hope so. I will never listen to your advice on any game ever. I'll go play a better RPG trying to forget this complete trash. That would probably be any RPG ever made.
A big journalist wrote an article about bioware internal issues with tips from insiders (mainly focused on the Andromeda and Anthem shitshows) and amongst other things it also said they already scrapped a DA4 concept or something like that.
They announced it but with current Bioware it's almost certainly gonna be a trainwreck
You should play Dragon's Dogma.
>Some sweaty neckbeard worked for months maybe years on this character
Close. She's based on Gaider's DnD character.
YEAAAAHH HELLA MCFUCKIN BASED
played that it has better combat and that's about it
It's alright. Just an amalgamation of different fantasy universes and tropes; mixed into this cauldron that gave us this game.
After Anthem and Andromeda Bioware is dead and buried.
It's not, for some reason. DA4 will come. I'm convinced someone at BioWare is sucking off a higher up at EA
Im not going to respond to the subjective stuff and stuff about characters/writing but here we go my dude
>shit single player MMO gameplay mechanics
MMO gameplay mechanics is not necessarily a bad thing depends on implementation
>clunky mechanics in combat which is mostly shit btw
you have to be more specific I'd say within the combat system they have for this game it's functional stats based but not the most exciting like all crpgs
>useless tactics
if you know what you are doing you can set up your party's tactics to work well and be extremely efficient
there's a mod that improves the tactics/extends functionality even further
>the worst level and dungeon design I have ever fucking seen in any RPG since the days of Amiga 500
not sure what are you even talking about here but I've played a lot of RPGs over the year and this is def not the worst in that area
enemy encounter design in the levels is actually pretty good
>shit engine and technology
this is true the tech is pretty awful and could have been a lot better
its ok but not as good as dragon age 2.
Used to be, that and ME. Then I grew up and realised that the writing is mediocre at best for most "new" Bioware games and they were fun at the time because there was nothing else
it's pasta
right I just checked it's zoomer pasta
I'm losing touch with Yea Forums
Nope. Save for the graphics for the time I found it mediocre, which makes sense since much like Mass Effect 1 it was supposed to be a foundation to build from, and of course EA ruined it in their typical fashion of sacking/driving out the original creators along with their long-term vision and understanding of what it is and what it should have unfolded into, and replacing them with mediocre EAdrone hacks who don't know shit and treat it like a training academy while milking the brand for the name.
