Remember that your goal is to make a human skull of aryan pure skull shape using aliens skulls

It's actually legit terrifying to me. XCOM2 has some great fucking designs all around.

>using skulls instead of prolapsed anuses from their probes
Pretty weak

I like the basic enemy mooks, good faceless fodder design

I thought so too. Getting WotC this sale was fucking dope for me. I love the batshit crazy abilities they had that made my life hell during my first few missions with them in it.

>fight a Chosen
>weakness: Melee attacks
>immunity: melee attacks
FUCKING ALIENS I SWEAR

It's a great game

I kinda wish the FMVs went full cheese and were live action like the old C&C cutscenes, they remind me of them.

Okay now this makes me want to pick it up.

I've heard that there's...sneks?

Is this true? How high is the entry barrier for this game? Like the only tactics game I’ve recently played is Disgaea. Also what’s WotC?

I think the weakness damage still applies if you fire a gun at CLOSE RANGE

is the long war 2 any good or is just a "let make legendary look like a fucking joke" type of deal?

Skill floor is low enough not to be troublesome but there's a fuckton of room to improve
Just look up WotC on Steam it's an expansion, tales the base game and makes its much, much better, it's mandatory at this point.

Embrace snek.

pretty low actually rookie difficulty is a joke and veteran difficulty is pretty confy
i will say xcom 2 has some weird shit that xcom 1 didn't have, like the engineers being more importat that the scientists or the sniper being in the same tier as a fuking rookie

I disarmed the converter but all my soldiers are dying!

Snipers are God tier, user. Tell me what problems you're having with them.

bruh are you SURE I can't fuck it just a little?

just a little kissu

>Is this true? How high is the entry barrier for this game?
Think of bottom of the barrel then lower

Its babies first tactical shooter, it has zero depth and 'hardcore' players just abuse obvious mechanic failures to win.

they fell underwelming
>grenadier can deliver heavy damage or destroy cover and armor
>specialist keeps the team alive
>ranger either shotgun everyone into oblivion or swords to secure kills
>sniper either goes gunslingers and makes everyone loss 3 hp or has to prey that the map has a high ground in a some what relevant spot in the map

To answer your question Long War 2 is alright if you're looking for an all-in-one mod to make the game longer. Just note that it's not compatible with WoTC and you can honestly make your own version with mods.

The sniper class is complete and utter trash in the early game, but the most powerful class during the late mid to end game (when you have the Chosen Hunter's sniper rifle). Late game the sniper class can wipe out multiple enemies in a single turn. My advice is to either ignore snipers or just level 1 or 2, you'll be able to get snipers as mission rewarda later on so you don't have to deal with their tedious leveling. Snipers in the early to mid game have only 2 uses: they're incredibly useful for lost missions due to their unlimited ammo and for burst damage during the Viper King fight due to lightning hands. I never level more than 2 during a playthrough and rely on getting like 1-2 from mission rewards. Snipers suck until Lieutenant and then they're decent, they start shining at around captain rank or when you get chosen sniper rifle whichever comes first.

Agreed

>the most powerful class during the late mid to end game
my boy have you heard of a little something know as ranger with serial perk

Should I even bother with vanilla xcom 2 or jump straight into wotc?

Vanilla is fine WotC adds a few cool curveballs. The mission that introduces WotC is great.

wotc has a target preview when you move so vanilla is obsolet also the new classes are really good

Which packs should I buy since they're on sale?

It's actually a better "resistance" simulator than base XCOM2 is but leaps and bounds, but WotC is incompatible, and frankly WotC is a ton of fun if very different. There is a LW2 WotC port that's had a few alphas released over the past couple months, so that's nice.

Alien Hunters is good if you can adapt. If you get into a rhythm with the game then you probably won't like it. If you don't care about dress up don't bother with with that shit. If I remember right Shins Last Gift is robots.

CYCLOPS MOD WEHN

Why do a bunch of people bitch about some missions having timers? I NEVER felt like the game was needlessly rushing me both in combat and at the world map. I did however start with WOTC so maybe vanilla Xcom2 was worse? I dunno

They're bad.

Because it's an arbitrary addition to an otherwise great game. Why even have a timer if it doesn't matter 99% of the time?

Because they want to play the game the exact same way they used to cheese through EU.

Attached: 7BOdsul.jpg (552x414, 13K)

Xcom one scrubs would just sit and cheese overwatch. The devs added a moderate timer to stop it. Much butthurt was felt.

IIRC, they patched the timers to be a bit more lenient and WOTC added in more missions without timers. Classes like the Reaper also go a long way in making the timers easy to deal with.

Funnily enough i never managed to beat XCOM 1 at classic difficulty (in ironman of course), tried mutiple times though, and i did abuse the overwatch mechanic. XCOM 2 however i found it much more manageable and easier than 1 for some reason, both vanilla and WoTC.

They're a little retarded on legend in the early game and require you to use a reaper

XCOM2 generally gives you a lot more options with your soldier ability / classes to handle a situation. If you're not stuck in the mindset of crawling square by square overwatching and baiting pods like EU/EW, the new tactical options and maps really do open up to be something quite fun and different.
