Somewhat. As much as I would've preferred to just fill the roster with Gen 1, I was trying to be fair and pick a good selection of Pokemon out of all 800-and-however many there are these days. I basically just went through the Poke Dex and said "Oh, he looks neat." The only thing that was intentional was two of each final form of starter type.

This roster is intended to be less of a "EVERY CHARACTER EVER" and more of a (slightly) reserved "a shit ton of characters, but still vaguely doable." I've already done a "EVERY CHARACTER EVER" roster that has pretty much every character from every franchise.

These easily could've been cut and serve as nothing but fluff and filler that are better off as Pokemon summoned from the Pokeball item. Also surprised you bother including all them and left out Incelroar.
On another note Tingle and Chef work better as assist trophies and Mouser should be an Assist trophy in a later game that works akin to Bomberman. That's my only beef with the roster thus far.

The idea behind Great Fairy and Giant Cucco was that they (or their races, rather) were important/iconic parts of the franchise as an overall whole, similar to Piranha Plant's inclusion.

I dunno, I guess I figured there were enough worthwhile Kirby characters without having to dip into Recolored Meta Knight.
