Do they hold up?

The one on the left does. I suppose the one on the right does too, since it's just as shit as the day it was released.
Andromeda>ME3
The first still tells a great story and constructs a memorable universe. The second still gives you a lot of engaging vignettes with great characters and fun combat. The story in the second is shit and the world building is absent but at least the ending is satisfying within the context of its own game. ME2 was a misstep but it didn't piss people off or ruin the franchise like three.
ruined by the 3rd.
ME1 is a fun game with compelling choices, character building (both in dialogue and in skills/stats), and a bunch of content.
ME2 is for normies and is just a mediocre shooter.
Not really, no. Both of them have meme stories and the gameplay hasn't aged well. Play something else.
for what it is mass effect 2 holds up great, but its not a seqeul to mass effect at all.
original ME is perfection no matter how much time passes.
I agree I played 1 not too long ago and it still holds up.
>ME2 is for normies
ME1 was for normies. It's blatantly for normies. The whole thing is pretending to be a Hollywood film. Not-normie Bioware is shit like Baldur's Gate, not Mass Effect.
What movies did ME1 evoke? Bladerunner, Aliens, and Star Trek the Motion Picture. It was bit a game made by or for normies but for actual science fiction fans. You know, people who read books and talk about futurism and other such nerdy stuff.
ME1 had shit combat and good story
ME2 had serviceable combat and no story
ME3 had okay combat and shit story

Yes, they do. Surprisingly well.
regardless of the content of 2, there is one thing we can all agree on. This track is ultimate chill.

Sit on my face please
It is indeed nice
>an interesting sci-fi game with RPG elements, a likable cast, and some tedious moments
>the sequel which removes most of the likable cast, has a plot that goes nowhere, and gameplay that just makes it feel like any other cover-five TPS
ME1 holds up through the odd weird atmospheric level (props for the dead planet being re-colonized) and side content. Actual side-content, not the "comb this unity tier map, collect 3 things and leave x 25" shit. Still way too light with the RPG elements. So it's... fine. Not thrilling, but fine.
ME2 did nothing for me. The increased emphasis on companions and combat, with companions still being comically underwritten (nigga I'm calibrating) and combat just being a dull console shooter - it did nothing for me. I was so underwhelmed I've yet to bother playing the third.
ME2 did have some really dope music.
Love the first. I like the second one more and more as time goes on. I still hate that it took out the rpg mechanics and customization instead of improving it though.
>The first still tells a great story and constructs a memorable universe.
I have never read a fucking book the post
people like you are the reason they likely had the codex with a commentary so you actually pay attention to this "memorable" universe.
>You like playing 2 and spending most of the game making your squad give a fuck about the endgame which consists of a shitty filler boss.
Cerberus, please; you told me your intel was good; why are half of my crew such massive faggots?
>Do they hold up?
No, they aged poorly, expetially if you know that the ending of the trilogy sucks ahrd and all your choices doesnt matters at all.

True, ME3 kills any fun in playing the games
not really. I have revisited Jade Empire, Dragon Age Origins, Oblivion, Dead Space, Bioshock and others and finished them to completion and enjoyed it. I tried Mass Effect series again and 1 was was dull so I jumped over to 2 and while it was fun at first after about few hours in it felt just as dull. It's very forgettable if you can't be suckered by dating simulator shit.
Exactly.
Playing 1 and 2 had sense when you were looking forward the big ending of the trilogy, but once you know that they fucke that up in one of the worst way possible, the whole series lost it's charm.
And after the story component becoming uninteresting, there's nimthing really worth playing them gameplaywise, it's just a boring TPS-RPG hybrid(becoming more and more TPS, aka worst, with every game)
nope. first one is a case of "you had to be there". it had such potential that everyone just gave it a pass expecting a sequel to fix all the jankiness and be bigger and better. then they made ME2, a "streamlined" shooter with no space or planet exploration. the community was divided into two camps: those who said that it was a casualized failure that abandoned everything ME should have become, and those who weren't big enough to admit it. as always the latter camp was the majority so Bioware was enabled further, but the former camp was redeemed tenfold when ME3 and Andromeda were both so bad even the hardcore sheep couldn't keep pretending.

Mass Effect is for normies you brainlet.
Biowareshit has been for normalfags since KotOR
That is pretty spot on.
>the community was divided into two camps: those who said that it was a casualized failure that abandoned everything ME should have become, and those who weren't big enough to admit it.
Being in that mess when it went down the division between the groups was
>people that wanted Fire Emblem Awakening tier friendship and dating with the MC type of game
>people that wanted a Star Trek game
That was why the "casualized failure" wasn't a failure at all and ME2 sold so well thanks to the space dating app shit, Yea Forums Yea Forums was unbearable with as many as fucking 20 Tali threads going on at once and it came at a time that dating shit to kids and the masses was still more niche than common. Hell if they didn't fuck up ME3s ending and had it end with you necking your romance choice while everyone celebrated the war was won it would have taken decades for all those players to sober up and go "yeah, it was garbage"
I wish the entire series had been goofy shit with aliens in space like the Citadel DLC.
I feel that's unfair since DA:O was a lot more character and choice driven. KotoR was on the fucking rails harder than Jade Empire to the point you got hard punished with your skills and abilities if you didn't stay full dick or full pussy. I was hoping where JE and DA:O avoided this and had a lot more depth of character roll playing we were free from the garbage but in rolled Mass Effect which robed me of that hope.
