Because a sequel without much of an actual connection to Trigger ended up being the better game. They still can't let it go.
Why do Chrono Trigger fans hate it so much?
>nostalgia goggles
Chrono Cross is an incoherent mess more concerned with being the anti Chrono Trigger at every single step.
If they had one iota of that same concern for making a decent game it would have been ok.
Retconning how time travel works just to make the Trigger cast look evil. The early scene of Nadia going to the void until you save the queen clearly makes it Back To the Future rules yet Cross declares it's the new dimension rule with the added bonus of everyone in the old dimension to have every existed getting sent to the cosmic junk drawer to be eaten reeks of edge.
Why do dipshit threads start off with emotionally charged headline?
people hate chrono cross because they're so concerned with sucking trigger's cast off so much that they forget cross is about undoing them getting their assholes ripped open
Literally all Square needed to do was to make Trigger again on the PlayStation with PS production values.
Imagine: They visit the medieval world, the future, the ancient world? They could throw more in, like an obvious Roman era.
Problems:
1. They didn't have the original team. This includes the original directors, and specifically Akira Toriyama for designs.
2. Way too many characters.
3. Feels insanely disconnected to CT.
4. Story is a meandering mess.
It's an EXCELLENT game but a bad Chrono Trigger sequel. Its does so many things right on its own but it will be overshadowed by Trigger forever.
Why does something so trivial trigger you so easily?
they couldnt beat it
