Windows 7 with new GPUs

Does anybody here have windows 7 with new GPUS like RTX 2060 or 2070, or Vega 56 or Vega 64.
I am asking this because I recently got a vega 64 and certain games flat out don't work on their current drivers and windows 7.(C&C Generals as an example)
Other games have utilization issues and have trouble providing stable framerates or even delivering 60 fps in Witcher 1 for example.
Or underutilization and unstable FPS in Quantum break.

So I really wish to know if it's my PC, AMD drivers, or all new GPUS in general that have these issues.

So anybody who has windows 7 with RTX gpus or vega, please tell me how is your perfromance in Witcher 1, do you get stable above 100 fps?
If you have windows 10, the same question applies to you, do you get stable FPS on a vega in witcher 1?

I know this isn't exactly video games, but this is very important information for me, and /g/ is being real unhelpful in this subject, so please if anybody has info on this, please share.

Run DDU first, you should always use it when swapping gpus.

Had this issue when I switched out my 280x for an R9 Fury, worked for me.

Maybe don't use an ancient operating system with new hardware. idiot

Just install Windows 10. You'll want DX12 and security updates. If you're worried about m-muh botnet follow this guide: github.com/adolfintel/Windows10-Privacy

Just saiyan Skylake CPUs (Intel i7/i5 6xxx) were the last to support Win7 and Win8, anything above that is Win10 only.

Nah, DX12 is shit.

That's not how computers work.

No driver support.

I did that, I used DDU 4 times now removed everything possible reinstalled amd drivers multiple times while in safe mode, still get shit like this.

didnt work for me.

fuck off.

I have a ryzen 2600 and it works on windows 7 absolutely fine though. In fact until I switched to vega I had zero issues on win 7.

Try older driver?

Could be an issue with Vega's W7 drivers themselves.
I'd suggest installing W10 on a separate HD/SSD and dual booting just to try and isolate the issue.

>using Windows 7
Found your problem.

I did, used
>whql-win7-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-relive-17.11.1
the result was that some older games like Generals started working.
However the drivers did nothing to fix the GPU utilization problem, and both witcher and Quantum break, essentially were uneffected. As in both remained equally broken.

I mean it would certainly let me know if OS is the issue, but I don't have a spare harddrive/ssd handy.
Which is exactly why I am asking here for the info.

Just install 10 Ltsc and be done with it

samefag

There is so far zero proof that is the problem/will fix my problem.
Which is why I am asking for this info.

Shilling windows 10 and telling people to install it at every chance is not productive at all.

If the government really wants to spy on you (they don't, you're a nobody), do you really think using a shitty, ancient OS is gonna stop them?
Get real, no one gives a fuck about you. Install a real OS and stop slowing down your own life like this for the sake of some fake sense of "security".

AMD's Windows 7 drivers are garbage, they abandoned that OS years ago. They don't optimize it for performance anymore, they just simply release updates for the sake of compatibility and shit not crashing.

Upgrade to Windows 10 or get an Nvidia GPU.

Installing 7. Thanks for the advice chang

I have a 1660 Ti and it works on W7. Try different drivers?

fuck off NSA

are you a bot?

t. pedophiles
They'll find your stache don't worry.

install gentoo

>I have a 1660 Ti and it works on W7. Try different drivers?
Can you try Witcher 1 and tell me what kind of framerate/fps you have?
Please?

just get windows 10 ltsc you turbo autist

>You'll want DX12
lol

>drivers for CPU

Srsly try windows 10. Amd ist not suppprting windows 7.
If you want to use new hardware youe have to also update your os to be able to use the new drivers for that new hardware.

Holy shit the amount of poos shilling their garbage in here.

>Srsly try windows 10. Amd ist not suppprting windows 7.
But does Nvidia?
If nvidia drivers don't present these issues on windows 7, then I know what GPU to switch to.

Fuck off ESLfag

>tfw their memesync support for FreeSync monitors is Win10 only

>Does anybody here have windows 7 with new GPUS like RTX 2060 or 2070,
I do. They work fine.

>performance in Witcher 1
disable SSAA, moron.

do you mean AMD only supports freesync in windows 10,
or that Nvidia only supports freesync in windows 10?

>Srsly try windows 10.
kys shill. kys.

The latter

>disable SSAA, moron.
I'l try it, brb

>disable SSAA, moron.
wait wtf, Witcher 1 doesn't have SSAA, wtf you talking about?!!

Thanks, this is very important info for me. Anything else like this?

god windows 7 shitters are so insufferable with their piece of shit OS in a coma

>we have been shilling and forcing it on people for years
>WHY WONT THE GOYS JUST OBEY?!

thanks for proving my point even further

CCleaner. Clean your fucking registry from all the times you've run DDU. Then install latest drivers and do a clean install. I bet there's a fuckton of left over files that are probably causing weird issues. This is the most likely cause.

I doubt it, but I got nothing to lose so I will try it.

>Clean your fucking registry from all the times you've run DDU
Wait, doesn't DDU itself remove all the registry shit? It's very aggressive in it's removal.

dx12 gives me massive performance gains in games what's the problem?

any proof?

dont give a shit about battlefield and will never play it.

posted this in the hitman thread earlier. going to do more testing with more dx11/dx12 games but as of yet the only game i've found performing worse is bf1 but that game's dx12 mode has been broken since launch if you check the forums.

I have a Ryzen 2600 and RX 580 and Win 7 works fine, one of the updates fucked up Halo Custom Edition but with the 19.6.2 driver everything works fine
My Freesync monitor works fine on 7, Nvidia's Freesync support only works on GTX 10xx series and newer on Win 10 and Linux.
I have Witcher 1 on GOG so I might be able to test that when I get home, last resort use WSUS Offile update, install security only updates and reboot a lot since it'll install a lot of non-botnet updates and VC Redist files and run sfc /scannow on cmd.

I'm planning on building a new PC soon with the new ryzen 3600 or 3700x and a nvidia gpu. Unless there's something new to prevent, I will install win 7.

>wait wtf, Witcher 1 doesn't have SSAA, wtf you talking about?!!
yes, it does. It is its only form of AA.
If you want less fps-raping AA, inject post-processing magic. Or force MSAA.

literally kill yourself, Todd.
I'm never touching your POS Wontworks 10.

tried it, still fucked, pic related, a vega 64

>I have Witcher 1 on GOG so I might be able to test that when I get home,
Please do, this information would greatly help me.
> last resort use WSUS Offile update, install security only updates and reboot a lot since it'll install a lot of non-botnet updates and VC Redist files and run sfc /scannow on cmd.
I have no idea what you are talking about

>If you want less fps-raping AA, inject post-processing magic. Or force MSAA.
Man please read the thread. It's not an issue of AA raping the performance, it's some kind of driver bug from AMD where the GPU isn't even utilized by 50% while delivering absolute SHIT performance, pic related is waht you get on vega 64 P.S I did try to turn off the AA, no difference.

>GPU isn't even utilized by 50%
are you one of those dummies who thinks that higher GPU utilization %% equals "better"?

Yes, if the fps is bellow your desired cap (144fps)
and the gpu utilization hovers sub 40% while delivering an absolute MESS of a framepacing, fps, constant dips and not being able to handle 60fps?!
Then yes, GPU under utilization IS a problem.

Every. Fucking. Time.

>the shill crusade continues

Notice how this phenomena happens roughly every 10 years.

>I have Witcher 1 on GOG so I might be able to test that when I get home,
forgot to ask, when is that?

>believing in microsoft lies

kek

Attached: windows 10 update.jpg (460x306, 18K)

notice how microsoft didn't have to force update, make it free, shill it endlessly, make exclusives and do all of this and more, for people to switch form one OS to the other. Yet for windows 10, it's maximum shill mode.

If this thread dies before you can post the results. Please post them on /g/ since its slower there, in either stupid questions general, or PC build general.
Just have the word "witcher" somewhere there, so I can search for your post.

See you in 2020, user.

download.wsusoffline.net/
Get latest 11.7.2 version, pic related for settings and run the update installer in the directory you specify or wherever your wsus offline folder is.
For the cmd thing, run cmd.exe as admin, and type "sfc /scannow" without quotes.

Attached: wsus_win7.png (722x442, 71K)

Installing now user, I'll give a bump with results, you just need framerate and GPU utilization for the game?

2080 runs fine.

I don't know, but stay strong win 7 bro.
