What went wrong?
What went wrong?
you didn't buy a switch
nothing
I heard it's way too easy and too many moons. But haven't played the game so what do I know.
SMO represents the pinnacle of what a 3D platformer may aspire to be
No DLC worlds
Feels too refined and polished. I want a platformer to feel really incongruous and rough where you find unexpected, unintended ways around levels
Nothing at all
I assume since they are making a breath of the wild 2 because of how many ideas they had for DLC we will get a similar situation with Odyssey 2
soulless
It's easy if you follow the itended route, but you can use all the movement techs to skip many parts of the game.
I like this game, but I was disappointed by the low amount of worlds the game has.
The Ruined Kingdom wasn't a full kingdom. Seriously what the fuck were they thinking, I was so fucking hyped for some spoopy world as I made my way to the towers in the distance, only to get teleported to a round arena and a shitty bossfight. I expected to explore the towers as full fledged levels with rooms filled with boos, armors coming to life, scuttlebug jamborees, and maybe the piano from SM64 making a comeback. But none of that actually happened and I nearly dropped the game right there.
Other than that the game was literally perfect, I haven't had this amount of fun with a game since 1996 when I first got the N64.
too many objectives feel like filler
>I want a platformer to feel really incongruous and rough where you find unexpected, unintended ways around levels
How much did you really play the game, user?
Have you seem some of the insane tricks that speedrunners are finding?
>no hub world
>too many Moons spread across too few levels
>somehow no playable Luigi
>a number of staple enemies missing or relegated to only be NPCs
>no Delfino to be found (I wouldn't be so pissed if wasn't shown on the globe/planet in prerelease material and still found on material maps for the globe)
Fix this stuff for an SMO2 and I'm golden.
No hub world
90% of the content feels like filler.
Almost no challenging content.
Pretty enjoyable if playing for any%, boring and tedious if going for 100%, could be a lot better. Hopeful about the sequel.
Feel like I'm describing BOTW desu
800 Moons just because you sat on a bench.
>>no Delfino
Why would you want that? There's already an entire game in that island. Let the next game have entire new kingdoms.
>INB4 Throwback galaxy
A new galaxy would have been better.
The game has like 10 mini open worlds. What more could you want?
>one cryptic moon
You would have never guessed how to obtain it without a guide, or actually, on your case, watching someone else do it.
Will you tell me that revisiting an old place like the Mushroom Kingdom at the end was better than discovering an entire new world without any connection to the previous ones?
Nothing? It was a good game.
Not really the same, speed runners find tricks in everything.
>at the end
You could get to Yoshi's House early in game.
Well, you know what I mean.
The absurd mobility of the bread and butter hat jump doesn't match up to the challenge or design of the levels. Occasionally you get rewarded with coins for reaching certain out of the way places, but I want an obstacle course that fully uses Mario's expanded moveset.
it's basically botw's korok seeds as a game. I honestly can't fathom how this game got such great reviews.
I'm not a speedrunner and I found many skips and ways to defeat the bosses in under 30 seconds.
The world quality is stupidly inconsistent. You have great levels like the Wooded Kingdom and Sand Kingdom, mediocre ones like the Snow Kingdom, and then tiny rushed areas that barely even qualify as worlds like the Ruined Kingdom and the Cloud Kingdom.
Not exactly an obstacle course, but some of the races definitely expect you to pull off some advanced tech.
Nothing is really wrong with it.
If anything is bad about it it's that there are too many copy and pasted moons like chucking your hat for the dog or planting seeds.
I have re-completed Odyssey since it came out but I don't know if I'll have the desire to revisit it in years to come like I did with 64 and the galaxy games.
Not enough challenging content, they went and made a fancy new moveset and barely even used it.
Its waaay too easy
absolutely this
They should have just made those bosses part of a world like the others. WHAT were they THINKING!?
What went wrong?

No playable Luigi. Galaxy 1 and 2 spoiled me, I unironically don't want to play as Mario in Mario games anymore.
Mario's still a furry.
Yeah, no spooky world was a missed opportunity. Bowser's weeb castle was a nice compromise though
Second world (I think?) the desert one just made me give up. The level before it was fun and exploration was neat. But the second world was just boring with how open it was and lacking content
