Photorealism is shit. If I wanted to look at realistic trees I would go for a walk in the woods

Text adventures are the highest form of video games.

This is very true, especially when you watch tose "skyrim ultra realism 4k modded"-videos. Sure, everything looks graphically nice but most of the time they make the game look very soulless.

The guys was talking about painting and movies, in that artforms it's absolutely true. In video games i don't think that is necessary true, but i prefer fantastic, impossible shit, over boring and realistic games any day.

The day text adventures fell out of fashion the industry lost it's soul.

Cant go stylized for everything.

Yeah, man, if I wanted to see realistic rainforests, I'd book a flight to Amazon no wait I fucking wouldn't because traveling sucks and South America is a total shithole

The point of photorealism in videogames is to allow you to do things in photorealistic environments that you could not do (without consequences) in the real world. You can go outside and take a walk in the forest, but you can't set that forest on fire while killing zombies there.

plus there are those fish that swim up your urethra if you try to piss in the river

This is basically Plato's philosophy regarding all imitative arts. Whereas a carpenter draws from the world of ideas to create a bed, an artist draws from the work of the carpenter to create a bed. He's twice removed from the purity and perfection of the original idea of a bed.

Realism is an art genre you ignorant slut.
