Why do people say ff7 had good graphics for the time when tomb raider 1 came out a year before it and looks way better?

Did anyone really say that
You can even compare it to FF8 and 9 and it looks like a joke

people don't praise FFVII's aesthetics for the character models, especially not the ones outside of battle, you goofus.

nobody says that

>that one dude who keeps telling me that ff7 had top tier graphics

Tomb raider is a sequence of corridors and arenas and VII is huge.
Also, it was the CG cutscenes that made people lose their shit.

The concept of a pretty cutscene playing and impressing people is lost to zoomers since everything is either in game or barely better looking than actual gameplay

When you emulate things you don't get what the game looked back then. Using a non native resolution is akin to cheating since you're using something the original hardware couldn't render.

I was really impressed by FMVs when I was 7. Tomb Raider had them too, but FF7 could do more with them given the setting.

The fmvs were good and the battle animations were good

Back then, FMVs were way more impressive, especially with how FFVII seamlessly integrated them without loading screens. That intro with the city zooming in on the train and immediately switching to gameplay was mindblowing at the time.
