I dont get how people are okay with this lazy assest reuse. Its basically the Zelda version of MGSV chapter 3

>inb4 majora's mask
The difference here is i feel they cannot walk back from BOTW now and all we will ever get is yearly updates on this same game.

It's just a pre-rendered trailer, we don't know how derivative it actually is. I'm withholding judgement until actual gameplay.

Three of the best Zelda games, are asset reuses.
Who gives a shit.

>one sequel means this is all they'll ever do now

You want them to create new models for everything for a direct sequel on the same console? Or you just want a completely unrelated Zelda game? Or you're just unhappy?

Well? How do you walk backwards from an openworld meme?

>Or you just want a completely unrelated Zelda game?

Correct.

Windwaker isn't

The same way they did back in 1986

Maybe because it's going to be an actual sequel, so reusing assets makes sense, saves time, money, and adds a sense of continuity.

Not that guy, but Windwaker is one of the worst Zelda games.
Also I'm not OK with the sequel idea, asset reuse is perfectly fine but why a sequel? I wanted to explore a new map, not the same fucking layout.

Were you born yesterday or what. Nintendo has been able to keep their franchises consistently good and rellevant for 30 years and now you're worried they're going to burn Zelda into clone sequels just because BotW worked so well they might aswell give it another go within the same framework. For all we know, the follow up for this game could have nothing to do with this sequel both tonally and gameplay wise.

I mean, it's a sequel set in the same island immediately after the first game ended, so it's an even more egregious asset flip than MM.
I just hope they change the map enough to make it fresh.
But the original map was already bombed the fuck out of and void of all personality, so I struggle to imagine how the hell they're going to make it different aside form the floating castle.
They can't re-use the temples anymore either, since you already solved them in the first game. Unless they fuck us and they reset with new-ish puzzles which would be a dick slap in the face.

I'm not sure this was the right direction.

Hey stupid.

BotW2 would be the first direct Zelda sequel to reuse the actual in-game map.

The fuck you mean yearly? This somehow gonna release back in March of 2018?

If it does. We don't know that it will.

Asset recycling should unironically be done far more often in the industry.

They showed the castle rising up. Unless Link and Zelda saw that and NOPE'd out of the entire continent to have an adventure somewhere else, the game is going to take place in the exact same place.
Maybe with a time skip, because otherwise, the map would be exactly the same minus maybe a few more houses in the cities and fallen rocks in temples.

>just play this budget title bro

I'd like to believe that they'll make enough changes to Hyrule that it will feel different, but I'm worried.
Even Asscreed doesn't rehash to that degree.

>to reuse the actual in-game map
We don't even know if it will actually do this. At the absolute worst I am expecting ALttP -> ALBW changes to the map, and those changes were still pretty substantial.
Or we're getting an entirely new map somehow anyway.

Works for Yakuza.

If the game was just straight reusing the same map we would have seen gameplay and a full title reveal and it would have a 2020 release date

I don't give a fuck as long as it's a good game that improves over the first.

>budget title
Who cares? It's still one of the best Zelda games

>the game is going to take place in the exact same place
Majora's Mask started with some Alice in Wonderland thing and took place in an entirely new world.
A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, and A Link Between Worlds had link fall into a parallel realm.

The Ganon / Sheikah magic is going to isekai Link and Zelda.

lol no
Even if they used the same exact map without changes, they'd still only release the game in 2022

And how is that indicative that we will explore the same area? How do you know something else will not change the landscape?

i-it's just like majora's mask, the greatest game ever made!!!!

>Its basically the Zelda version of MGSV chapter 3.

What does this mean? I don't play hack games

You make a different open world in a different engine with different gameplay, setting, characters and story
you know, like every other zelda game

i would be expecting a new map

>the difference here is my feelings
ok, no

Why is Nintendo allowed to use the exact same map for two different games?

Because they created the best open world map in any game ever. Give them a break ffs. I’d be ok with them reusing the botw map for the next 20 games it’s that good

Again, we don't know if it's the exact same.
It COULD be, but all we have is a pre-rendered trailer and some ambiguous statements from Aonuma.

>What is Yakuza

>short haired Zelda
my fucking HEART

>OP is fully aware of this being common in the Zelda games.
>BUT THIS TIME IT'S DIFFERENT
Don't do pessimism. It causes brain damage.

Could be worse. They could go back to the god-awful OoT formula again.

HEY GUYS LET'S MAKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MAP OF HYRULE FOR NO FUCKING REASON

What I don't get is why people has the urge to make such categorical judgements either for BLUNDER OF THE CENTURY or GOTYAY for a game we know so little about.

We don't know if it's literally the same map. If it is, we don't know what their plans are to make it interesting again. The game could all take place underground for all we know. There's literally nothing to get upset or way too excited about yet.

I'm very optimistic taking in mind I liked BotW like I haven't liked a Zelda game since WW but it's too soon to make assumptions about this sequel's scope.

If they do reuse the same map I'll be upset, yes. But I don't think they will.

Or if they do there will also be a new map and the old one will be an "extra". at least I hope so

They focused so much on exploaraion in BotW, I doubt they'd just stick a few things on it in the sequel and call it a day. My guess is they at least build some new towns and make it more lively.
We've seen from the trailer that towers and shrines seem to be gone and without them I'm not quite sure what is ther eto push you to fxplore the same areas yet again without some changes.
I'm also hopeful because Monolit has been hiring staff with a massive triforce logo on their recruitment page, so I'm thinking they're back helping with the world. It would suck if all they added was a cave system which would most likey function as dungeons.

I wonder what WILL they do to incite the players to explore and I wonder what will the guardian type enemies be replaced with.

they made a colossal fucking map and I'm okay with not having to learn A WHOLE NEW WORLD this one time
youtube.com/watch?v=sVxUUotm1P4
they should focus on putting A LOT more things on the map, korok hunting did not satisfy me desu

Someone being rational on Yea Forums, this is indeed a rare sight.
I agree with you, user. The game has potential to be one of the best games of all time if they fix BotW's faults and manage to make it a fresh experience or it could be boring reused shit with couple new dungeon and a new story or it can be in between and just be mediocre.
I'm also optimistic beause they taked before how they want to give even more freedom and options to players in the next game and how they have ideas how to improve on BotW. If you ask me, 2nd DLC was aalready an improvement to puzzles and challenges.Shrines seemed harder to me (not much but still), finding them on map from those photos on pillars was cool and the dungeon and its boss were great, imo.
I wonder if they initially planned to do BotW2's story as DLC but quicly figured out it's too big for DLC and left it for the sequel, which is why they apparently started working the new game immediately after DLC was fully shipped.

they are reusing so much shit so why is there no release date?

We don't even fucking know if it's the same map or if they just meant the setting, calm your farm. Wait until we know just how derivative it actually is first.

Because Zelda fans are a cult

>i feel

And why should we care about what you feel?

We barely know anything about the game, but appsrently it will have a darker tone and the inspiration on RDR 2, so at least it looks promising and definitely better than the first game.

Fuck off with what you “feel” faggot.

GAMES ARE ITERATIVE PRODUCTS THERE IS NO POINT WASTING DEV TIME ON RECREATING MANY OF THE SAME ASSETS. ASSET REUSE SAVES TIME AND ALLOWS DEVS TO PUT MORE TIME INTO MORE IMPORTANT AREAS LIKE GAMEPLAY. LEARN HOW GAMES ARE MADE.

TALKING IN ALL CAPS AND MAKING SWEEPING GENERALIZATIONS DOES NOT MAKE YOU INTELLIGENT.

Fornite reuses the same assets. Same map for 8 seasons.

Y’all niggers keep playing that shit.

Nintendo is being smart here

this. god you people are fucking outrageously stupid sometimes

>i'll be upset
where do you live in time and space
