Facial animation is ridiculously hard apparently. Vampire the Masquerade was like a decade old game that somehow did it great and all the advancements in tech and AAA games couldn't match it until they said fuck it we'll just facial capture real faces and slap that in there. Which then requires getting actors that can actually act and not just speak into a mic which then leads to a demand for actors. And that's how we got on this path.
So what are some good Cyberpunk games to help me with the wait until 2020?
You can do a knock off version of it with a smart phone and some simple software, so yea its definitely cheaper than having an artist zbrush up a realistic face.
This, I really ended up enjoying Dex.
Take the recent Mass Effect Andromeda facial animation fiasco as a example of how hard programming in facial animation is.

Watchdogs 2
try the snes Shadowrun
It's so that silverhand can have the same impact on the player as he has on the setting. The player wouldn't feel the same if it was just another game character design
this
actors go gimmicky as fuck making themselves look completely different for roles
then kiojima and cdpr and ubisoft fucking idiots just take actors and put them in games.
