Super obscure answer, but it's arguably the racing simulation crowd. I'm not talking about the GranTurismo/Forza bros. That's more car collecting for normies under the guise of a simulation. I'm talking about the racing game equivalent of the flight sim community. This is where stuff like iRacing, Assetto Corsa, rFactor 2, maybe Project CARS comes into play.

The majority of the userbase has never driven a car before, let alone raced. It is 100% an extension of their boyhood fantasy of driving a race car. This turns off the critical thinking part of their brains because they see it as an "escape" rather than a $60 game that can be either good or bad.

So a dev will release a game, or a new car DLC, and the community will just eat it the fuck up and suck off the devs in the forums no matter how broken or unfinished it is. There have been multiple games in the genre that have had Arkham Knight-tier releases, but basically didn't get the coverage from major sites because the scene is so small and irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, and the fanboys bent over backwards to defend the devs.

What's hilarious is that over time, you'll see the occasional amateur or semi-professional race car driver pop in on the forums. A lot of times they will write massively detailed feedback explaining why game X or Y isn't realistic. 55-year old boomers will then jump in and tell actual professional drivers that they're wrong and just have a "vendetta" against the developers.

iRacing is arguably the worst for this. It is shilled to hell and back by NASCAR and the spergs on youtube all repeat the marketing babble and claim real drivers practice on it, but most of them hardly play it and some outright refuse to because it'll mess up their driving.

The boomers also spend fucktons on overpriced wheel and pedals for "immersion" but in a lot of cases the fancy wheel/pedal combos output stronger forces than you'd ever feel in a real car..

I could go on. It's hilarious.
