Unfortunately they forgot the fun

Fuck you!

trash tier class. Only;y redeemable if required to become an assassin. Par that they are meatshield splatter.

always shoehorned into an assassin for combat

Thief with a tool belt of situational spells

sorry buddy but the game is balanced around warriors
always will be

being a thief is simply capital

Press Steal
Couldn't steal anything x 5

Thief has negative connotation. And why bring a thief into an abandoned dungeon? Who the fuck is he going to steal from? Rogue is a better description.

You never need more than one thief but you can never have too many warriors and wizards

rogues are just fighters with less armor

Thief? What thief?

>Thief's entire class revolves around setting things up
>RPGs ignore this feature entirely

Yep. You have the CHADs that swing swords and make a living of it.

Then you have the drooling theives that become combat adept and roam the battlefield "cloaked" and take pot shots, somehow keeping up with someone that makes martial battle their lifeswork.

Then you have the caved head magic users that just sling spells like some glorified artillery piece while they lounge around in the back picking their nose, instead of exploring the mystery of magic.

>too much of a scrawny bitch to fight well in melee
>Too much of a brainlet to use spells
You're not a cleric or a paladin, I can give you that, and your sense of fashion is pretty good.

That honor goes to Ranger, but you just keep being an uncouth pillock.

>thief
>specialist in robbing homes
>can break locks &detect traps
hes crucial in a decent dungeon

>thief class trades armor for evasion
>evasion sucks dick

Thief's defense sucks, enjoy fucking up once and then getting punished for it with death

Relies on small dick dagger to cowardly backstab opponents - what the fuck are you going to do to an armored opponent?

Thief is only good for being a support class in a raid/dungeon (because he can lockpick) or a quick money-maker (because stealing)

Sincerely,
Paladin

in the rpg's that do thieves right they're super-fun to play, but most of them just turn them into dex warriors.

But I can't thief/rogue is actually the best class.

Found the skybaby

>stealin
>lootin
>trespassing
>back stabs
Literally a nigger

I feel like doing a LCK run in Dark Souls 3. what are good Bleed and Hollow weapons?

Archer/ranger is the best class, close second comes Wizards/mages

Go to the wiki stupid.

I really hate this. Why is it never possible to play a utility thief/rogue? They're always made into big DPS characters which is the exact opposite of what a theif should be. I should struggle in combat but in return get a bunch of utility stuff I can do

>he didn't pick Archer master race

Attached: 1495895762224.jpg (500x382, 40K)

The answer is always wizard

Attached: greg-rutkowski-dragon-cave-1920.jpg (1920x928, 442K)

Huh, that's some neat makeup

Attached: warrior.png (296x420, 63K)

Why wouldn't a wizard just hire someone to do the dirty work?

>gravitate towards thief or rogue
>one day realize I'm doing it because I'm edgy faggot
>slide some knights/paladins/pure archers/sorcs in
>whoa this is way more fun!

>tfw evasion is either complete shit or completely broken and never in between

A thief stole his money.

>class where you sit back and spam projectiles

Fuck that I'd rather play battlemage

You sound like a fun GM, user.

Attached: 1299628524401.jpg (500x426, 66K)

Evasion should always be worse than armour, otherwise nobody would wear armour. It seems ridiculous that an unarmoured thief should be better at avoiding damage than a heavily armoured knight. Evasion should just have some niche utility like being able to dodge magic that ignores armour

Alchemists cand do anything any other class can.
>make an intelligence potion
Youre a wizard Harry
>make a strength potion
Youre a warrior Harry
>make a dexterity potion
Youre a rogue Harry

Alchemists reign supreme.

Except the intelligence doesn't mean shit if you haven't spent time mastering magic. Strength doesn't mean shit if you haven't spent time mastering martial arts. Dexterity doesn't mean shit if you haven't spent time mastering rogue skills

>enemy dispels temporary effects
now you're worse than every class

>skill check on not getting your potions stolen
>fail miserably
>barbarian swoops in behind and brains you in one shot

can you get arrested for wearing that kind of makeup and scaring people

>he thinks that's what an Archer does
It's about hitting precisely and taking out key targets.

soups on, baby

>class where you sit back and fire individual projectiles
user that isn't much of an improvement

>styles on every other class
>does less damage than every other class

Attached: 49f08efa6819c19c7871d2a206f5930f.jpg (770x1310, 202K)

not really. there are situations where evasion should always better. what good is armor when you're fighting a 20 ft. tall cyclops, or a fire-breathing dragon?

The problem in a lot of rpgs is that whatever utility a thief/rogue would provide can be handled with magic just as well if not better. It's especially bad in tabletop games where the rogue's only saving Grace is trapfinding.

Armor
+ easy to use if you have the proficiency to wear it
+ allows you to soak damage from very large area attacks that can't realisticly be avoided
- strong attacks will still get damage through
- weighs more or takes up more inventory space

Dodge
+ avoids all damage
+ doesn't require any special equipment weighing you down (generally)
+ may be a very effective positional tool
- requires active skill on the player
- eat full damage if you fail
- usually has a lower ceiling for improvement compared to armor (you either dodge or you don't, while armor can be improved to block more and more damage)

>Not be a Nightblade, the based hybird class of rogue and mage

Whenever I think about an alchemist, all I can picture is some madman throwing molotovs.

Dragon fire fills up the entire room.
>armor
You beat a hasty retreat and quickly doff your superheated armor, being only minorly singed through your under-jerkin
>dickstab thief
You get roasted to a crisp before you can make it out the doorm

>not having a brace of flintlocks
This is why you fail.

There's literally 0 reason not to be a mage in an universe where magic exist.

Bring a fucking wizarding book with you then. Just drink the potion and skim through spell list learning everything in 2 minutes.

Or buy a sword, drink a potion, and slaughter everything in the dungeon at warp speed.

if a universe has magic there is literally 0 reason for all martial classes to not utilize it as well.

counterpoint: there's literally 0 reason to be a specialized "magic user" in a universe where you can hold a sword and use spells at the same time

>barbarian fails a constitution check
>the potion is too strong for him
GG no refunds

That depends on the universe and what you wanna do. Sometimes magic can cripple a character from doing anything else. At least In D&D

>killing an alchemist is the same as drinking one of his potions

Attached: 1517661638271.png (200x200, 38K)

wtf why does the barbarian suck my dick

>not Necromancer
Too bad few games ever got them right.

Whats the point of the sword when youve mastered spells to the pont where youre untouchable?

I don't know about you, but i'd bet on the guy that runs the hell away and hides rather that the meathead undressing while under dragon fire.

anti-magic fighters rendering all of your untouchability useless

>You beat a hasty retreat
>undressing while under dragon fire
based illiterate

>start every rpg with a balanced team, warrior, rogue, cleric, mage
>realize that most of these chucklefucks just slow down combat
>just go with 3 warriors and a cleric

worked for Gandalf. if there's magic like that, then you'll be fighting people just as untouchable.

Attached: Rings-gandalf.jpg (512x428, 39K)

>spawn so many minions it lags everyone out

Diablo 2 was fun.

Then use magic as a secondary effect, like telekineses to throw a boulder from outside the range of his anti magic field or whatever the fuck hes using.

>trip hundreds of traps and gets the team killed
>never have a magic user to deal with special situations

how do you take out your pants while running?

if you're silenced directly, you can't use telekinesis at all

Be a Nightblade user, it's easier to steal something with illusion magic

Attached: Class_creation_nightblade.png (322x481, 113K)

You keep your armor on until youve made it to safety then hopefully you get it off before the residual heat burns you. I'm assuming you're being willfully dense.

Y'all niggers need respect the Divine, or it's to the wall with you.
Is the wall of faithless still a thing?

Attached: cleric.jpg (550x825, 51K)

Traps are literally never an issue when you have a billion hp, or it's a game that gives you resists or immunities.
Magic only matters in something like Baldur's Gate 2, even the the mage is a haste dispenser 99% of the time.

I agree. but only if it becomes Assassin.
i hate the thief in skyrim because it is horrible in combat

how do you prevent your armor from melting into your skin?

Hell yeah. The original Guild Wars had a good necro class too.

I've always wanted some kind of singleplayer game where you played as a necromancer, raising an undead army, conquering kingdoms, etc. The closest thing I've ever found was a flash game.

Attached: death knight.jpg (519x650, 81K)

The heat has to get through your undergarments too.

Not every warrior is like Maximo whos just runs around in boxers underneath his plate.

diablo 2 has a nice necromancer

If the class is so based, why is he dead?

Attached: assassin style.jpg (960x810, 116K)

use magic to give incredible hihg speed to cut others mages

I assume your lungs are already incinerated before your armor melts, then?

Assassins are more fun anyways

wouldn't fabric also fuse into your skin? before the armor starts melting, even?

Not true, it could be a game designed around minmaxing as much as possible and punishing the player when they don't.

keep projecting fatso

ragnarok online the alchemist class is op against bosses

because there is no monk class in that image
otherwise that would be my default choice

Conan was a thief.

>being someone's ass
sounds gay

mabinogi has a full fledged alchemy skill tree involving summoning barricades, golems, and exploding stuff out of a combat cylinder

It was never poisoned, he has to make an escape, so he let them steal his shit as he turned tail.

>Thief
>Chaotic neutral
That's literally the definition of based, they do what the fuck they want whenever the fuck they feel like doing it

I agree.

>FTL
>Darkest Dungeon
being the two of those list I played, the warriors (in FTL's case, boarders I guess) are easily competitive with the magic users/equivalent
no idea for the others

>they do what the fuck they want whenever the fuck they feel like doing it
Isn't that what Evil is though?

>trying to decide whether to be a magic user or an archer
>become Arcane Archer
>arrows can banish enemies
>homing arrows
>arcane shot

Those are prayers you dork.

No I mean my point is they're games made around min-maxing and not around anything considered a fair difficulty curve so cheesing is the way to go.

>Thief specializes in poison
>Poison is fucking shit
Every time.

I always like the healers.

>Thinks that magic isn't magic if it "comes from god/gods"

I'm just sticking to the idea of magic vs martial, but in that case you're right
gonna check out some of those other games meanwhile

Cope harder necrofag

Wizardry is a good series but I'm pretty sure you'll hate yourself by the end because of what you have to do in order to beat them. Especially IV.

Choose your class.

>Being a heretic

Thieves aren't stealing "for the evuls" they steal to live for the most part, that's neutral. It's against the law so it's chaotic, but not evil

Bulwark and Berserker

temporal warden and paradox mage are the most based classes out of all rpg's.

>false-flagging this hard

Adventurer adventurer

Chronomancer so I can ZA WARUDO and IT JUST WORKS any enemies

Adventurer

Necromancer. I just want to have a skeleton army.

Attached: 1511284230101.jpg (750x960, 99K)

my nigga

Necromancer.

Paradox Mage sounds sick too, I love the concept of Time Magic but it is pretty limited for an entire Class desu.

Adventurer

When has anyone, ever, done something "for the evuls"? Everyone thinks they are doing what is right

Paradox Mages have Killer Queen, not King Crimson.

Mind Slayer

Attached: HonoredMatre-Dune.jpg (727x900, 179K)

Rogue has a negative connotation too and it also doesn't tell you shit about what the guy actually does. A thief carefully sneaks around, steals treasure, picks locks, pockets... A rogue: wanders around, mugs people and gets blackout drunk every night?

>counterstrike appears over boss
>assault

>enemy is exactly one tile away from me and running away
>endless fearless cleave loop

Attached: 1524298797864.jpg (600x523, 186K)

Temporal Warden was fun.
Was even more fun when you made a custom class with adventurer or cheated and used both TW and Paradox Mage abilities on the same character.

Sun Paladin.

>Implying that a priest/paladin/cleric is somehow representing the "true god"
>Implying the dark forces behind black magic couldn't actually be the "true god"
The gods they worship and receive their power from are far more limited in power and range of abilities, the chaotic forces behind black magic are clearly superior in ability and adaptability. You're the heretic here m80

>tfw wizard is by far the most based class in RPG history
>but only in concept
why does every wizard boil down to offensive fire ball spells? theirs so much creative stuff you could do with magic but it all ends up being MUH MAGIC MISSILE bullshite

Pathfinder Kingmaker.

Cultist of Entropy sounds like some kind of cool special snowflakey caster class, so that one

>Killer Queen
You mean BITE ZA DUSTO. Besides, Chronomancer is the broad/general class for time-fuckery class.

I don't know what game this is but Corruptor sounds fun.

>Thief

Is that the one with Possessor? I could never get into that game it's too much like an MMO for me not a roguelike.

I just want to be a witch/warlock but no games let me.
except wow

It's from ToME (Tales of Maj'Eyal), a turn based roguelike that's surprisingly both fairly newbie friendly and serious and complex too. Instead of just bumping into enemies to damage them each class gets a wide array of special abilities and a lot of class specific combat mechanics.

Since it's a single player turn based game there are a lot of wacky mechanics like time traveling spells that lets you travel back to several turns before, while the enemy that you killed staying dead.

Paladin = Priest > Barbarian = Knight > Wizard > Thief > Warlock > Monk

Necromancers ranking depends completely on the quantity of skeletons you can make. The more skeletons the better.

yeah

The central ability of the class is just a big nuke they drop after charging up for a few turns.

Attached: Dave.jpg (1440x1079, 159K)

I should really get into this but I'm so used to roguelikes being being these lightweight small windows with no sound that I can just have open while I multitask/listen to stuff but then ToME wants to be played fullscreen with music and graphics and shit. And the mechanics seemed kind of confusing compared to the typical "bump into stuff, use items" gameplay that most roguelikes have

>causing self-damage in order to hugely augment your attacks
I always liked RPG classes with this gimmick
high risk high reward
